This is one of the most versatile bands and underrated bands. They're way more than just a country band. They've done covers of Bohemian Rhapsody, Devil Went Down To Georgia, Enter Sandman. Plus Zac is one of the most consistent songwriters in a long time. Amazing band overall.

Zac barely participated in the writing of this song. The guys who wrote almost all of it say it's about just how difficult it is to maintain a relationship while being on the road. The drug addiction thing is an urban myth.
This one gives me chills. I love the group harmony reminiscent of the Eagles. You should listen to Highway 20 Ride from Zac Brown Band. It's one of my favorites and will tug at the heartstrings.

Clemjohn, I think you nailed it. As a combat vet, I tend to see things through the filter of PTSD, which can encompass all three of those factors ... "stuck in colder weather" to me was a metaphor for "I'm not in a place where you can be with me right now and hopefully tomorrow I will be in a better place emotionally. IMHO.

Quick note Zac is a great songwriter, but he only had a tiny part in writing this. Wyatt Durrette and Levi Lowrey wrote it and brought it to the band where Zac and other band members pitched in.

Another metal fan here - like George and Ryan, it's my first time I've ever heard of this band - I appreciate them going in blind on this one, I love it when LiV take a chance on something like they did here. Zac Brown Band is a full band. They have many good songs. I think Chicken Fried was their first. Its great. A really fun one is the one they did with Jimmy Buffet - Knee Deep.But I think my favorite Zac Brown Band did is "Free". But you have to find the extended and complete version. The instrumentals are awesome. Especially the Violin at the intro. Somewhere in the song, there is a complete change where it merges into another song, then back. It is too awesome. Their talent is showcased for sure in "Free" I think it may be found under Free - Into the Mystic version. Just checked. I cannot find the recorded version on you tube. But the Austin City Limits live show recording is on you tube and it is the closest to the recorded version. Some of the live versions get lost in the noise of the crowd and just does not give the performance justice. Austin City Limits live show is a good one.
I can't stand Sweet Annie. It's the same song as Colder Weather and I hate lazy writing. They're very talented people and I'm sure the similarity is an artistic choice, like maybe 'Colder Weather Part 2: Happy Ending'? I just can't get past it though.

I couldn't click fast enough when I saw this video in my sub box. ZBB is literally my favorite. I've seen them 5 times in concert. Colder Weather is one of, if not their best song ever. Other great ZBB songs: Highway 20 Ride, Free, Dress Blues, Jolene, Martin, Day for the Dead. Just to name a few, but there's so many great songs these guys have. EDIT: Also, that's them harmonizing in the song. They harmonize alot.

wow i was at work today and i heard a zac brown song on the radio, and i thought it would be cool to hear lost in vegas react to to a zac brown. My thoughts just became reality lol. Zac Brown Band is one of the most skilled bands ever. They actually do Metallica covers live and they are great.
I always felt like "colder weather" was about his depression. He didn't want to commit, because he doesn't want to bring her down with him. So he left, and hopes to feel better later on.
His mom touched on this in her interview with Dave Grohl's mom for her book. Virginia Grohl, From Cradle to Stage: Stories from mother's who rocked and raised rock stars. It's a good book, covers every genre, tells some embarrassing stories and prints some embarrassing pictures. The Geddy Lee chapter is even more amazing!
He is singing about having to leave the girl he was dating because of the startup from his music career (Zac) and how she really wanted him to slow down. He was going to go see her because of a cancellation of a radio talk show, but it was pouring down snow and he couldn't make it. Thats when he wrote the first verse, Hence Colder Weather. The band took to it because they could relate to missing their own families.

I couldn't click fast enough when I saw this video in my sub box. ZBB is literally my favorite. I've seen them 5 times in concert. Colder Weather is one of, if not their best song ever. Other great ZBB songs: Highway 20 Ride, Free, Dress Blues, Jolene, Martin, Day for the Dead. Just to name a few, but there's so many great songs these guys have.
EDIT: Also, that's them harmonizing in the song. They harmonize alot.

I’m a huge country fan. And even though this band isn’t strictly country, this is my all time favorite country song. So much emotion in the song.
There’s so much depth to country music lyrics. I don’t listen to it much, but always marvel at the beautiful story telling. I wish other genre’s could succeed with that style of lyric writing.

He is singing about having to leave the girl he was dating because of the startup from his music career (Zac) and how she really wanted him to slow down. He was going to go see her because of a cancellation of a radio talk show, but it was pouring down snow and he couldn't make it. Thats when he wrote the first verse, Hence Colder Weather. The band took to it because they could relate to missing their own families.
