One of the best roles Robert De’Niro ever did, such a break from the tough wise guy rolls to a working father role
and so damn good.
Notice how he has no fear talking to the tough guys when it's over his son.
and DeNiro directed it too! Amazing film
This is one of my favs of all time. You guys have to watch City Of God, it will easily become one of your top five of all time.
This is one of those movies you stop and watch while clicking through your channels. Seen this movie a million times over and its just amazing. A true classic.
Yep! Classic movie that you can't help but watch over and over.
@@CoolEnginesChristytrekkie facts
Any fkn time i see even the smallest clip from the film anywhere on the internet its either "Well shit, now i got to watch the movie" or if im short on time its, "Well shit, now i got to watch someone watch the movie" which is where im at right now :)
I saw Chazz Palminteri's one-man show on Broadway of A Bronx Tale, which is his own life's story. Freaking phenomenal! What a performance.
I saw it too. He's an amazing actor with a remarkable story.
I saw it as well was awesome!
I've wanted to see it for a long time.
I wish I could have seen it
Enjoy your reactions & banter. You guys would be fun to hang out with & watch movies, or have some beers & play some pool. Keep doing your thing, you guys are killin it.
Please react to The Equalizer & The Equalizer 2. Thanks.
Lilo Brancato, who played the teenage C actually got involved in crime in real life and was charged with murder after a burglary he was involved in ended with his accomplice killing an off-duty cop who interrupted them. Brancato was found not guilty but served 4 years of a 10 year sentence for the burglary, and actually got back into acting after he got out on parole.
The kid wasted his talent he learned nothing from this movie
UP IN DA CLUB!
@@jackh.4544 I actually read somewhere that he’s trying to redeem himself for his past actions. So maybe he remembered the moral of this movie.
If that’s true then good on him. I think it’s cool that he’s trying to improve.
@@somerandofromoregon I hope he does everyone should get a 2nd chance
@@jackh.4544 Indeed
"Now youse can't leave." Best line of the film!
Ahhh you beat me by 4min. Great line 👍
The first line that springs to mind whenever I hear anyone talk about this movie and I think I've watched the scene on RUclips 3 or 4 times at least
Ikr!! Love it!
Put em in da baretroom.
My favorite is: look at me! I did this to you! Remember me!
I love how Sonny saved C’s life 👏🏿👏🏿 So sad that he didn’t get to thank him 😭
Me too. It was karma. You reap what you sow Sonny prevented Cs 💀.
Yep Slick was a piece of 💩 he almost cost Cs life he was a instigator with racial motivations God was 👀 Slick Mario Aldo Ralphie and spared C talk about a plan back 🔥 ing Hate got them killed
Hands down Underrated Mob movie. After all these years I learned that the Mario Test is overrated and the Door test works.
This movie is definitely underrated nobody ever talks about it
I wouldn't even call it a mob movie, it's a movie that has a mob guy in it. The movie is more about a kid growing up than about the mob
"PIZZA!" AT THE SAME TIME. U GUYS are hilarious 😂
Twin magic!😅
Sunny is one of them guys who has been through so much and done so much and truly learned from his past, but its to late. Hes stuck in the game. So the best thing he could do was at least teach C how to be a better person than he was and thats what he was trying to do the entire movie until he was killed!
Big facts. Sonny is a legend.
That's why I think I he couldn't stay away from C. Smart kids like C didn't come around all the time. They were mostly goofballs like his little buddies. For real, C learned a huge amount from Sonny
At the beginning of the movie when the guys were jumping on each other's back let me explain I'm 51yrs. And we used to battle other neighborhoods or other streets, you make a team of 6 to 8 people. In the movie they were playing with the 1st guy in line holding up the building and his boys on the team hold each other's hips in a line. The other team one by one runs from a certain start point and jump on the opposing teams back and try to make the line of people collapse,we used to get the heaviest kids on the block to help us out. But we used to play by having the 1st person in line holding a tree or telephone pole and we used to call it Buck-Buck!!!
Very interesting I never heard of this game thanks
The only time I’ve actually heard of this was in fat Albert and I loved it lol
I thought they made that up for the Fat Albert Movie didnt know they did it in real life, that's interesting!
I can't believe some people don't know about the Buck Buck. Maybe it's not that popular in America?
I first heard of buck-buck while watching Fat Albert decades ago. I really thought that it was made up.
That "$20.00 Lesson" shit was the truest thing ever put to film. That helped me out a lot in various ways over the years. Oh yeah, how about watching/reacting to The Last Dragon & Black Dynamite? *I also found it very funny that DeNiro is on film talking about don't date black women, lol*
And he married two black women. But it would not surprise me if when he was growing up he heard the same thing from his family.
He played his role well
What's the 20 dollar lesson if you don't mind me asking, never seen the movie.
@@schicoj0179 go watch the movie what's wrong with you?
I've used it several times.
You guys' simultaneous reaction to the pizza was epic.
And the car door
"Now yous can't leave." The line is delivered flat. Passionless. Calculating, but most of all 'matter of fact'. The undertones of consequences so subtle, yet hang so ominously. Not only a classic movie line, but one of the best deliveries of a line on film in my humble opinion. I like to imagine some sort of alternate history where Cornwallis, upon realizing his forces are trapped at Yorktown in 1781 by the French Fleet by sea, and the combined forces of the French troops and Continental soldiers by land, his heart sinks and his face drops as Washington intones that same phrase: "Now yous can't leave."
Hahaha. Oh, wow, that's awesome
A lot of people from the neighborhood (Bronx) are in this. They had small parts in it like the bikers and the extras. I grew up always hearing people who have been in it or who knows people that were in it. Grown up C even lived around here before he got in big trouble 😳. This is my childhood! So happy you guys watched this!
yeah, it's a shame he messed up his career, he really could've been a bigger star, especially after this movie and the Sopranos appearences.
@@justinhearst I agree I heard that Chazz always tried to look out for him and keep him straight but once the drugs come into play you make bad decisions to keep your fix coming 😢
“Why Do Fools Fall in Love” is great too
O they ain't ready for that heat
Yes!
Yessss!!!
I always knew colangelo was chazz's real name & this movie is his life story & he wrote this. However when Robert de niro directed this movie I always thought the part about him dating a sister was his idea since those are the only women he dates & marry. However chazz said I really did date a black woman. Impressive
Impressive how? There was always a lot of that going on. Always has, always will. haha. Humans are horny af. They hop on whatever looks good and smiles back. haha
@@LA_HA impressive that it wasn't made up & that de niro took on the project cause he saw himself in Chazz
@@rxtsec1 Oh, okay. My mistake. It wasn't clear, but still, my error. I apologize for my misunderstanding

This movie is a total masterpiece and not enough reaction channels have given it a watch. So glad you did. It’s impossible to watch this film without having it trigger some reflection and insight. Flawed characters who are so relatable.
I'm a black female and this is one of my favorite movies. It shows how hard it is to cross worlds like that with preconceived notions. But it's getting better in a way. The newer generation come together like the song
The ting I loved most about this movie was the fact that the father and sonny developed a mutual respect for each other, and the fact that his father was not afraid to speak his mind to sonny. Loved the fact that both men taught him about life, and to be a good person. One of my favorites. Great reaction. Miracles and blessings to you and yours ✌💜.
Sony giving C advice while driving in reverse is one of the greatest scenes in Cinema history.
Most people watching say why is he driving backwards I’ll tell you why cuz he can it’s his neighborhood he can do whatever he wants like driving in reverse
Chazz Palminteri's story about getting this one-man play he wrote and still does, then and now, made into a movie is truly inspiring too. He came here to LA with barely anything and long, long story short wound up in a room with the then head of Paramount to sell the rights for a million dollar check in the 80s. Then 2 million, as he politely declined, when he didn't have a car that wouldn't start. They literally sent a car last minute to pick him up for this meeting. He still walked from the meeting when they wouldn't let him play Sonny and as he was leaving, the head of Paramount told him he'd get $2 million for a script that had a 50/50 chance to even get made, and asked him what makes him believe this is a better deal.
He replied: "Because I know it's that good". Then walked out of a meeting with the head of Paramount.
As he was doing another run of the stage version of A Bronx Tale, De Niro randomly met him in his dressing room and made this happen. This movie is inspiring in different dimensions.
One of my all time favorite films. It is loosely based on Chaz Palminteri's life and he really did witness a murder when he was a kid. This was also DeNiro's directorial debut. Everything about this film is near perfect.
FOUR BROTHERS PLEASE!🙏🏽
Heck yeah❤️
Pretty please
that came to my mind too
That one always gets me in my feels
This is a LEGENDARY pick, thank you!!!
They taped this in my neighborhood. Little Italy has changed a lot. A lot of people moved out, but they still have a couple pork stores, my friend's ravioli shop, 2 fish spots, produce and canned, coffee soda, etc. from parts of Italy. You can still get fresh homemade mozzarella, olive oil, they made sausage special for my daughter and pastas, pies, you name it. You should come visit. If you're ever in NYC, i'll bring you up to the Bronx, after showing you what's left of Little Italy in Manhattan. If it's a Catholic feast day like St. Anthonys, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, they have huge festivals, lots for the kids as well.
some non blacks have a real dissonance when it comes to black people, like how he could be in love or lust with jane but in the same breath call her brother a n!gger. another reason why it's so nonsensical when people present their black partners as a shield to racism claims, like you can't be racist and engage with a black person sexually. it's sick.
That last part is more true than many people will understand. And absolutely loving someone of a different race or ethnicity does not shield you from prejudice, it just means you're able to treat that person as an individual instead of a stereotype. Sadly we all make assumptions about people based on things that don't matter at times. All we can do is try to treat people with kindness and respect, be mindful of our own thoughts and actions, and make amends when we fail; which we're all liable to do from time to time.
There's a big denial that many people also have when it comes to human nature. It's more than just calling someone else a racial slur. It's all about how people say things they don't mean out of anger, pain, and resentment, and say and do whatever they think will most hurt the other person. It's basically emotional payback.
That's why name-calling happens during fights; and people in swirling relationships are always told by their respective groups, "The second you guys argue, It (their racism) will come out." Because they know how emotions can be a horrible thing to deal with and count on it to try to discourage something that makes the naysayers nervous and mad.
This is all grade school mentality. The reason people call other people color, economic, height, weight, sex, looks, etc-specific names is because it's clear that it's what hurts the other person the most.
If you call a girl names based on her weight, it's the worst thing you can do because it hits a deep part of her that says she's different, doesn't belong, won't ever be popular with boys, and a whole slew of things that goes along with being bigger than other girls her age. Same if you call a boy poor, short, stupid, or ugly. Those things tap into something deep that makes them feel the absolute worst.
Everyone knows that most minorities feel extreme angst, sadness, hurt, and self doubt when called certain names; just like their are names for women, men, rich, poor, the unattractive, and others.
C didn't have anything against the Black kids riding through the neighborhood. But, even now (as I've been told), you can't go into certain neighborhoods because their are ethnic groups that claim it as theirs and don't like others going through.
This also happened to C when he went into Jane's neighborhood. So, we see very clearly that this wasn't all one sided with the Italians acting one way and the Black guys being welcoming and friendly. It's a historical fact by now that ethnic neighborhoods in places like New York were very much no-go zones for outsiders
He absorbed it from his environment. He was trying to be better but he couldn't completely get it out of his system in the moment.
@@LA_HA OR as the OP said, you can racist white person who's relationship w/ a black person or having sex w/ a black person. Stop sugarcoating it. We've seen it thousands of times before for hundreds of years, w/ whites who _only_ manage to be decent human beings to the black ppl they love by treating them like exceptions to the entire "bad black race" or w/ whites who sexually fetishize black people they've been in usually in sexually coercive situations that may _seem_ consensual, but really can't be when one person is considered human & the other is considered their moveable property.
@@veronicajade20 [Edited] Or not. Stop simplifying relationships down to your own internalized racism against others, limited experiences/knowledge, or anger towards what you believe people are like due to a short couple hundred years of American history against the Entirety of Human history. We've seen actual love between black people and non-Black people (Including White people of every Nation) that existed more than millions of times before, for hundreds of thousands of years throughout the ages; all who manage to be decent human beings, period. Including during historical periods when it was difficult to love someone of different colors, cultures, religions, etc. without considering them their movable property.
Your experiences and ideologies are just that - yours. Not everyone is poisoned by the same bitterness and self-set limitations all their lives. Just ask The Lovings, an appropriate name for a couple that changed American History in 1967.
As for fetishizing, name-calling, and all the rest, that doesn't work just one way, from White to Black. It works just as well in the opposite direction. A miserable person with ulterior motives and narrow mindsets comes in All colors, religions, creeds, ages, and sexes. Bad is bad wherever it dwells.
Be well
A Bronx Tale is a great story, I saw the Broadway musical too (in the musical they show one of Sonny’s “great ones” was C’s mother; think it adds a layer to whose side you’re on if you choose) - as for the movie the thing is it shows his father and Sonny were good men but neither was perfect. His father was slightly prejudiced but hardworking, Sonny didn’t have problems with different groups of people as long as they respected him, that comes from fear to him but it comes from love with Lorenzo. Still one of my favorites despite some of its flaws, I grew up on the Tremont side of the Bronx (where this is partially set - Webster) and I moved to another part of the city (Astoria) where a lot of the Italians went when they left the Bronx - that’s where this movie was actually filmed right on 30th Avenue in Astoria. My friends father was actually one of the bikers in the bar scene.
That said I’ve dated my fair share of Italians and I’ll say half were actually prejudiced individuals who I had to break up with because one dropped the N word very casually and two others shared some ridiculous racist notions they believed so I never found Calogero’s outburst too unbelievable, Jane’s better than me because that would’ve been my end point but we know through the viewers eyes he’s not a bad kid or prejudiced he’d been around his toxic friends too long, that’s another moral of the story be careful who you surround yourself with and how you align with them.
Watched this with my Grandma when I was like 9 good movie RIP Nana ❤️🔥🔥
I’ve been waiting for someone to react to this! A true classic. Doesn’t get as much love as Goodfellas and some others. But it’s a great film with some familiar faces. C is a great protagonist. Love the time period too.

This has always been one of my favorites! Sonny had many good life lessons to share.
You must include "Carlito's Way" and "Gotti" to the list!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blood in blood out is a must
Agree on Carlito’s Way.
Not sure which Gotti you mean - hopefully it’s the 1996 version + not the Travolta one. lol
Definitely the original Gotti I agree with Armand Assante, it's ridiculously underrated, one of the greats, and true story wise I'd also go for Hoffa with Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Armand Assante, ridiculously underrated (Although I always find it hard to find Hoffa online whereas the Gotti full movie is actually on here).

"Put him in the fucking bathroom!" 🤣 I like how either Sonny or his dad gave better advice than the other depending on the situation.

YES!!! The ending broke me (especially when you sit down and really THINK about the implications. )
Sicilians have that saying that life can be so rough you'd need two fathers (hence "The Godfather") basically, C had two fathers and learned as much from his Dad than Sonny... I think 1993 was a great year for what I would call anti-gangster films, movies that used the usual street mob tropes to better subvert them... and films with the heart at the right place. The other film like this one is "Carlito's Way" I highly recommend it to you bit maybe you should watch "Scarface" before. Anyway, great video.
PS the fear/hate quote comes directly from Macchiavelli's "Prince" a great read full of valuable lessons.

Great film.

Aside from the advice Sonny gave him about following your heart in regards to love, my second favorite advice was about getting the guy out of his life for $20. That is so profound and reinforces the fact that what matters in life is not what happens to you, but how you respond to it. You could choose to remember to be angry about everything (which is exhausting), but you could also choose to change the way you think of the situation. Which one is healthier for you? Which one helps you to move forward in life? Great lesson. Always one of my fave movies.
Put judgement night in a poll please
I know, right...
For the record $600 in 1960 equals about $5,750 today. A 10 year old with nearly $6,000!
