    Amazing work! You are one of the few graduates out there who were able to structure it and break down that elephant of thoughts. Can’t thank you enough!

      Thank you! Hahaha it's ironic right? That MBA's supposed to teach you structure, yet when it comes down to it, everyone's just hustling. Things don't really change from undergrad ;)

    Hey man thanks for this video. I found it incredibly useful. The finding a missus made me chuckle. I’ve been considering the pros and cons of the MBA in the US from London. Mostly the opposite of what you did coming to London.

      Absolutely! I'm glad it helped. Just a lot of observations and lessons on this massive decision. Best of luck my friend!

    Hello Sheng, thank you for the video - I really gained a breadth of insight that closes some dilemmas I had.
    Would you mind sharing more information about the bootcamps you spoke on? Examples would be worthwhile. Thanks again.

    I’m so confused. From research I’ve gathered an MBA only helps if one has prior work experience. I’m yet to find a channel that discusses my unique case.
    I have a BA in English and Literary Studies, straight out of school, I started a business. I never got to work in an office setting. I ran that business for 3 years with no prior knowledge or mentorship. In the 3rd year, I decided to switch paths using all the knowledge I had gained from the business to start up another business which currently exists.
    The business is at a place where it can run itself with little input from me. I want to open myself to more opportunities on a personal level and get to learn from others. Be part of an organization that I didn’t put together. I was hoping after the MBA, I’ll go job hunting but I’ve heard the MBA won’t make a difference, experience would. I believe there are so many things I don’t know because I was never under a corporate organization. I’m so confused

      Honestly Uyiose, I think you should look at the MBA as a personal equation rather than just a professional one. This is because you belong to the very small % of students who come from a purely entrepreneurial background. You already have what it takes to succeed, which means you don't actually need business school for learning because you already know "business" through living. This is by far the most important and practical way of learning. However, by entering bschool, you will be giving yourself the space and time to consider new options as well as answer some deep seated personal questions. The confusion you *feel* is a symptom of those questions. It is actually something that is very difficult to find purely rational reasons to justify. I would recommend you checking out these two videos because this is less about going to MBA, and more about discovering who you want to be and where you want to take your life.

      @@ShengHuang Hi Sheng, from your observation, do someone with the background like that of Uyiose will be given an interview shot to tech pm role, consulting or finance in the top mba programs, or what corporate career tracks would they more likely have a chance to pivot to if they decide to not go back to their own business but to corporate instead?

    Hi Sheng, thanks a lot for many informative videos! I’ve been admitted to Haas MBA and LBS MBA and now having really hard time making a decision. I have background of finance, but I haven’t decided whether I will continue working in finance and where to work… Which school would you recommend?

    • @ShengHuang
      @ShengHuang  2 года назад +2

      Hey Karim, congrats - these are both great schools. Funny enough I went to undergrad Haas and MBA LBS. They are very different. If you're considering a career switch to tech, I'd say go with Haas because of its proximity to the Valley. If you want broader international exposure then LBS. This is overly simplified but it captures the essence of the schools.

      Haha, thanks for the compliment! It really does feel like a lifetime ago, doesn't it? Being the president of the e-club at LBS and having the opportunity to support entrepreneurs was an incredible experience, one that I look back on with a lot of fondness.
      I hope you're doing well and continuing to thrive in your startups!

      I think given your finance background, going for the MBA will expose you to more diverse mindsets and possibilities. Given how unpredictable and fast changing the world is, this diversity will help a lot. However, I also understand the cost so be sure to explore other options to gain that breadth.

      Not worth it tbh unless for the network. The world's changing too fast for class lessons (except those about org behavior and strategy).
