In 2015, the mighty V10-powered McLaren MP4-20 will be a 10 year old car. It is still among the fastest, most powerful, and best looking F1 cars of all time. Adrian Newey's [underappreciated] masterpiece is perfectly proportioned; it looked fast even when at a standstill. We can only hope that McLaren would fire up this monster and celebrate the V10 era the same way they always demo the MP4-4 and MP4-23.
@@deliriumbee4678 they're on par I'd say, not much in it bhp wise. I reckon these hybrid turbo units would edge it. I believe the high end V10s were producing around 900 to 1000bhp. The hybrid turbo units (ferrari and mercedes) would probably be chucking out over 1000bhp on full qualifying mode easy I reckon. But the torque would be a massive advantage in these new turbo engines. The V10 cars were far lighter and sound way better though, more spectacular.
I rate this car up there with his championship winning Red Bull cars.. of the cars not to win a championship I say this one is definitely Newey’s finest design alongside the 2009 Red Bull car and 2000 McLaren MP4-15

This cars unique engine sound can be explained if you slow the audio down. With each revolution the engine can be heard screaming “I’m gonna blow!” Followed shortly by a large plume of smoke and the shattered dreams of Kimi 😂

Only with Kimi it looks impressive to watch frankly. In fact Kimi's 2003 and 2004 onboards are just as exciting. Kimi was the best driver. These McLarens were not easy to drive as his teammates all said, and Kimi flattered them.

I'm a McLaren fan and will always be one. 2004 Ferrari or Renault sound better though. their engine noise at high revs is just creamier and more pleasant to the ear. McLaren is rougher and less harmonious.

@@richboy900 actually our current engines are much lighter iirc, but sound doesnt matter in terms of engines, like you said: torque and power.

No it is not. Montoya finished in 4th in the WDC. Lmao. Pedro and JPM both said this car was hard to drive on the Michelins. Kimi made it work.
