Blue belt is definitely a GRIND. I think I spent about 3-4 years as one but let me tell you in my opinion it is the most important belt. You learn so much defense, and start to develop your style at blue. If you make it through blue chances are you’ll be in it for the long haul. Congrats on getting yours!
Leandro is amazing to watch (RIP) It’s funny you say that because I first found him at blue belt too. Tried to imitate his game every chance I got haha
@@ursinhobjj mt coach sent me his toreando breakdown video and I've been passing every guard blue belt and below since and I'm getting better at purple and up. It's a damn shame he was taken too early. 😥
@@ursinhobjj That guy is an excellent guard player as you mentioned. Since he was playing that guard really hard, I would have let him sweep me and then see how he does it on top position with you trying to reverse it or sweep him. Very entertaining roll.
@@GMunoz-oj5zb that’s something I didn’t consider. I never like to concede the sweep if I can help it but next roll maybe I try and and see what happens 😂
Really like your channel. Wondering if you could explain more about when you did the stand and open, you checked for what foot was on top. Wondering why? Thank you
Yeah for sure! Sometimes I check really quickly what foot is on top because one of the ways I like to open the guard is by wedging my hand in between the bottom and top foot pushing the bottom down and away to open the closed guard lock. There are some people who play closed guard left foot over right foot so I like to check the orientation so I know what hand to use to wedge in between the feet.
Man, if he had switched to a cross sleeve grip @ 1:39 into a flower sweep, you woulda been toast. I gotta rewatch this to see if i can work this sequence into my game
I’d say he’s closer to purple than he is to blue. I wrestled and I have a Judo background and purple belts still give me a very hard time. That dude is good, you handled your business tho 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Yeah dude is a 4 stripe blue but 100% should be purple for sure. He has been training since he was 5-6 and his dad owns and runs the logic gym in la Verne. Dude is only 22 or 23 he is a beast.
@@ursinhobjj hard to smash or toreando, I just look for double leg underhooks and try to elevate. Super hard :) but you’re right that’s the best way to improve
What a wild blue belt. Just got mine recently and I see with the striped blues that I got a LONG way to go.

Awesome roll 👌
Thank you!
Man his legs are super long and he’s so flexible. His guard looks so hard to pass. Great roll to watch!
I haven’t had a chance to roll with him since I left California but when I go back to visit I’ll have to make sure we get after it sgain
Great roll. I like his guard-style!
He is my go to training partner when I want to test out my guard passing.
Wow! That guard-style!
Great breakdown bro!
Yeah David has one of those really flexible hard to pass guard. Going to try my leg staple passing on him next time we roll.
Stapling is a staple😂 of my passing game. Being 195 and 33 I encounter those types of guards all the time. Frustrating and intriguing.
Great breakdown and I appreciate the summary at the end of the video! Very helpful for this white belt lol
Glad you enjoy the takeaways! Always want to make sure I leave off with some valuable information!
Great contest! Really enjoyed watching that roll 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
He’s a purple belt now and I’m a brown so I need to go back to Cali and get that rematch going!
@@ursinhobjj that’s a match to look forward to seeing!
Really fun to watch. I'm a 2 stripe blue belt. I've been watching a ton of leandro lo lately. I love watching different guard games.

Yeah David is a fantastic blue belt!
Great video and breakdown.
Thanks for the support!
That was a fun roll to watch! Good stuff as usual. See you on the mats soon👊🏼
Thanks for the support! Can’t wait to be back. Got more guard passing things to try from a few Lucas lepri instructionals I’ve been watching.

Thats a very good blue belt
Yeah he really is and his flexibility is insane.
Solid breakdown good sir thank you
Glad you liked it!
Great sparring :) GG to both of you
Thanks! I’m looking forward to recording another roll between us now that I’m a brown belt and he is a purple
Nice round 🤙🏻
Appreciate it man!
amazing job by both of you
Thank you! David is now a purple belt so I need to bring him back to the channel
Those triangles look dangerous, great job evading those attacks!
Yeah he actually took gold at jitsu-con submitting pretty much everyone with the triangle
@@ursinhobjj Wow, good thing you were wise to it!
Great roll! Do you like to play side smash positions? Hard to tell if it was possible since we couldn't see the other leg.
I do! David kept me in a floating half guard I wasn’t able to apply pressure from the side smash position.
This was awesome! Subscribed!
Thanks for the support!
Amazing commentary man - really helpful
Glad you like the content man!
great video!
Thank you! I need to bring David back to the channel!

Yeah that would’ve been the solution instead of same side. Lucky for me that didn’t happen 😂. He is slick with the triangle set ups.
If he would cross grip you would of passed because that right hand grip on your left leg prevented you from passing.
Great video bro. Are you on Instagram?
I sure am find me @ursinho_bjj
bro got his purple belt in a cereal box. wtf
From a professor actually
In a tournament, he would beat you on points from the submission attempts (advantage points)
Good thing they separate masters and adults 😂
