It's insane how powerful the final flash was in retrospective. Cell was multiple times stronger and he had to dodge it in order to survive. It makes me really feel like if Goku, Gohan, Trunks and Vegeta all attacked Cell at the same time, they'd surely win.
@@grandbean9031 that was mainly because cell didn’t know how durable or how powerful he really is… he didn’t even tried to dodge it at first but in retrospect a single ssj can destroy a planet alone… Regardless goku technically provided a heavier threat than Vegeta but still in reality cell has a higher speed, power and durability level than all of them combined before gohan reached ssj2 and even then cell had to be whittled down before they could defeat him. Goku reached ssj2 right after gohan but couldn’t hold the form for a long enough time to fight properly. Goku was trying his hardest to prepare gohan because gohan was supposed to take over the series after the cell saga but it wasn’t hitting it right after the first 10-20 episodes so they brought goku back…

Gohan while inexperienced, was just as strong as him. And you have to remember that Cell took the instant kamehameha point blank and while it did a lot of damage, it didn't pierce cell, it exploded on impact. Meanwhile the Final flash completely went through cell and evaporated all the areas that it touched. If Cell hasn't dodged it and it hit him point blank, it's very possible it would have killed Cell. Whether or not a single cell of him would survive is up to plot armour cause if literal self destruction can leave a cell alive then it's not really about logic but the plot needing Cell alive. Vegeta could have charged up a final flash while trunks charges his own full blast and Gohan his own kamehameha point at the same place and Goku could have instant transmissioned either Cell right in front of the blasts or do the same to the guys towards Cell. And that's all if we forget that Gohan when going mad, could take on Freeza's third form temporarily who was literally hundreds if not thousands of times stronger than Gohan. Cell was at most about 3 times as strong as Gohan/Goku considering Gohan going ssj2 which is a 2 times multiplier brought him into a power level significantly higher than Cell's.
Actually, I can't remember what video it was from TFS, maybe one of the gaming ones, but they did say the "aw how cute he named it-Oh shit" *is* actually a reference from something, possibly something else DBZ related, I just can't quite remember. I'm sure we'll find out once they get around to it on the new commentary

yeah cell is a monster. but final flash probably would have killed him if it was dead on. Vegeta's power level was quite insane after all that charging.
Cell makes three different callbacks in this episode. First is the “you’re either perfect, or you’re not me” line. Second is commenting about touching a nerve. And third is pressing the Goku button. I love how confidently he makes each callback, knowing there is nothing Vegeta can do to shut him up.

Cell thought the name "Final Flash" was cute, and probably wanted to make a joke about how it would be Vegeta's *final* words. Imperfect Cell was kind of a pervert, in a really creepy way, as well as a creepy stalker. Semi-Perfect Cell was an overtly jealous stalker (and let's be real, he was acting like someone who prefers women he's "after" to never be given the option to consent) who ignores restraining orders. Perfect Cell is that smug, arrogant SOB (son of a female 🐩) that cracks perverted jokes regardless of being asked, or told, to stop. Oh, and Krillin *finally* lands a Kienzan (Destructo Disk) on his intended target! A neck shot, too! If that had been Frieza, he might have done something! It may have even done something to Imperfect Cell, possibly even Semi-Perfect. But, Perfect Cell is just way too strong for anyone to even hurt at that point, save for Vegeta. Even then, it might take Goku, Gohan, and Trunks at maxed out power, and possibly even 16 and Piccolo to manage keeping him still or putting him in line with the attack.
Fun fact: Cell's "Oh shit!" line is a reference to the German dub of this scene where he actually says "Oh shit!" in English. (look up German Final Flash)

I’ve always loved the little detail that this attack left a unique form of damage on Cell. It’s cauterized and carbonized. The fact it’s only on the one side definitively shows that if Vegeta had hit him full on: Cell would be dead. Cell dodged at the last second.
Every time I hear Vegeta say “in mere moments the only thing you’ll feel is oblivion” always gets me to feel some type of way 💪🏽 also for someone as proud as Vegeta is, he somehow always ends up being the one that gets fucked the hardest in this series. no matter how strong he gets, he has about two minutes of brilliance and then it immediately falls down on him. Look at the fight between him Frieza cell and buu and he always gets humiliated more than anyone else in the show, makes me feel bad for him

This episode had THE COOLEST sequence ever in my opinion. Final Flash is so iconic, that when that Bruce Faulconer theme starts playing, I start playing it in my head for DAYS. I love it. So. Good.
I watched a compilation of all Vegeta's final flashes, and almost all of them follow this formula: Vegeta "you think you're so much stronger than me? Surely, you can survive this attack" Enemy "yeah. You're tot's weak. I'm not even gonna dodge" *Charges for a couple minutes* *Fires* Enemy "you're kinda tough" *Fight continues*
Everytime I see people react to cells arm being taken off by the final flash, everyone always hates that they don't immediately kill him afterwards. It should be noted that they have no idea that cell can regenerate himself at this point (Other than 16 I guess). The only people who saw him regenerate his tail were the androids because piccolo was already defeated, so I think it's pretty fair for them to assume that they have it in the bag after that
It's funny cell knows exactly what to say because he is them and all their quirks and flaws with their strength so he know how to get under their skin.
I love how Cell says only one thing and it tears down Vegeta's ENTIRE character arc..."Why don't you remember your place like the rest of them....and wait for Goku?" Utterly destroyed by one line....perfect.
The saddest thing is....Krillin tried and failed twice in the last episode to save Android 18. And when he, mind you, used his destructo disc and it finally hit something, it did absolutely NOTHING! Only resulting in him being kicked through a mountain, his butt being handed to him by Cell for a third time.
Btw, if I recall... the kick that you questioned if that was actually that hard... Vegeta actually mentions how he put everything he had behind that kick in one of the dubs. I recall that being the case anyway
# 001 Cell actually says "OH SHIT!!" in the dub. I was floored when I heard that for the first as a child. Good thing my mom wasn't around to see this. And I sure as hell didn't tell her until I got older too!
Fun Fact: Cell asking Vegeta if that had ever worked, is a reference to the fact that Ki-blast barrage attacks NEVER accomplish anything. (In the show anyway) The ONLY thing is occasionally wounding but have never Scored a victory. Oh, and That hair catching on fire ACTUALLY happened.
The only time it worked is when the androids did it to kill Future Gohan, but that fight was offscreened in the manga so ig it never worked in canon lol
For practicality and effectiveness against him, it's basically useless. Well unless Vegeta had God Ki during this time then maybe it would work but doubt it.
honestly, Vegeta didn't get humbled enough, literally EVERYONE told him it was a bad idea, but rather than listen, he lets the bug monster absorb the android and become stronger than him by a good chunk. I think I have that German thing where you take pleasure in someone else's misery specifically with stubborn, over proud, dumb asses. I think they call it schadenfreude or something.
IDK Cell humbled him pretty hard here. "Why don't you remember your place like the rest of them and WAIT FOR GOKU" (kicks him into the sky, breaks his back, and send him crashing back down to earth so hard he's out cold). In fact, you could say he was humbled so completely that his whole disposition changed. Sure, he didn't stop being a cranky jerk, but that being said, he low key became "one of the good guys," for real. He became a lot like Piccolo, an "ex-villain." He even took Cell's advice. He certainly stopped talking shit about Goku. He wants to surpass Goku, but his priorities shifted. He wants nothing more than for Cell to die, if that's by Goku's hands, so be it.
@@marvelsandals4228 to be fair, he only changed priorities to that extent after his kid was killed in front of him by cell. Until then, he was more or less along for the ride. In addition, the sheer arrogance and misplaced priorities warrant a good 15 minutes of one-sided, humiliating, beating. It was maybe 4 minutes, with at least a minute of that being other characters talking while he gets himself back up.
Nobody really mentions it but when Vegeta starts fighting Cell, he hits a Shoryuken and enters a C-C-Combo. When Cell beats Vegeta, he does the KO-You Win sequence. The fight between Vegeta and Cell begins *and* ends with a Street Fighter reference
Cell pushed the Goku button, and got away with it. The song you're thinking of at the end is called "Dragon Soul". Apparently the closest analogue to human flesh in terms of taste is pork. That's why Goku asked who's cooking pork.

Yeah, Cell was being overconfident and didn't even try to rise his guard, if the attack had hit head on that could be it (not sure about his main core tho). He gave Vegeta the time to accumulate energy and if you pay attention we can see that he's super buff after the Final Flash, just like Trunks will be next episode.

I watched a compilation of all Vegeta's final flashes, and almost all of them follow this formula:
Vegeta "you think you're so much stronger than me? Surely, you can survive this attack"
Enemy "yeah. You're tot's weak. I'm not even gonna dodge"
*Charges for a couple minutes*
*Fires*
Enemy "you're kinda tough"
*Fight continues*
"You're gonna get everything that's coming to you"

The end of that Cell vs Vegeta fight had context taken out from a Street Fighter 2 fight. Always enjoyed that!

Everytime I see people react to cells arm being taken off by the final flash, everyone always hates that they don't immediately kill him afterwards. It should be noted that they have no idea that cell can regenerate himself at this point (Other than 16 I guess). The only people who saw him regenerate his tail were the androids because piccolo was already defeated, so I think it's pretty fair for them to assume that they have it in the bag after that
The fact that you have some background knowledge/ actual interest of dbz & kai makes this a great reaction series! Keep it up!

It's funny cell knows exactly what to say because he is them and all their quirks and flaws with their strength so he know how to get under their skin.
I love how Cell says only one thing and it tears down Vegeta's ENTIRE character arc..."Why don't you remember your place like the rest of them....and wait for Goku?" Utterly destroyed by one line....perfect.

The saddest thing is....Krillin tried and failed twice in the last episode to save Android 18. And when he, mind you, used his destructo disc and it finally hit something, it did absolutely NOTHING! Only resulting in him being kicked through a mountain, his butt being handed to him by Cell for a third time.
Btw, if I recall... the kick that you questioned if that was actually that hard... Vegeta actually mentions how he put everything he had behind that kick in one of the dubs.

# 001 Cell actually says "OH SHIT!!" in the dub. I was floored when I heard that for the first as a child. Good thing my mom wasn't around to see this. And I sure as hell didn't tell her until I got older too!

Fun Fact: Cell asking Vegeta if that had ever worked, is a reference to the fact that Ki-blast barrage attacks NEVER accomplish anything. (In the show anyway) The ONLY thing is occasionally wounding but have never Scored a victory.
Oh, and That hair catching on fire ACTUALLY happened.
That or clearing out the smaller guys. Namely Frieza’s goons.
The only time it worked is when the androids did it to kill Future Gohan, but that fight was offscreened in the manga so ig it never worked in canon lol
For practicality and effectiveness against him, it's basically useless. Well unless Vegeta had God Ki during this time then maybe it would work but doubt it.
honestly, Vegeta didn't get humbled enough, literally EVERYONE told him it was a bad idea, but rather than listen, he lets the bug monster absorb the android and become stronger than him by a good chunk. I think I have that German thing where you take pleasure in someone else's misery specifically with stubborn, over proud, dumb asses. I think they call it schadenfreude or something.
IDK Cell humbled him pretty hard here. "Why don't you remember your place like the rest of them and WAIT FOR GOKU" (kicks him into the sky, breaks his back, and send him crashing back down to earth so hard he's out cold).
In fact, you could say he was humbled so completely that his whole disposition changed. Sure, he didn't stop being a cranky jerk, but that being said, he low key became "one of the good guys," for real. He became a lot like Piccolo, an "ex-villain." He even took Cell's advice. He certainly stopped talking shit about Goku. He wants to surpass Goku, but his priorities shifted. He wants nothing more than for Cell to die, if that's by Goku's hands, so be it.
@@marvelsandals4228 to be fair, he only changed priorities to that extent after his kid was killed in front of him by cell. Until then, he was more or less along for the ride.
In addition, the sheer arrogance and misplaced priorities warrant a good 15 minutes of one-sided, humiliating, beating. It was maybe 4 minutes, with at least a minute of that being other characters talking while he gets himself back up.

So, the funny part about Goku asking who's cooking Pork, well, it is agreed upon by food historians and food chemists that Pork was the substitute meat for a TON (or rather all) ritualistic foods for the Aztecs that included Human meat for the reason Pork meat is the closest to Human meat in terms of taste and texture (to an extent because lard is the best)

The buildup to the final flash and Nick's commitment to those lines... Chills every time. Also, bit of a Trivia fact: the Bruce Faulconer music was completely remade to fit only this scene and was put nowhere else in dbza.
Even if Vegeta ended up getting rekt, Final Flash was still one of the best attacks

This episode was a really sick one for me. That scene with Vegeta using the original Faulconer soundtrack gave me goosebumps. Also, next episode is my favorite. You probably won't see this comment before I've watched that episode and commented why, but if you do, free cookie if you can guess why.

Yeah, Cell was being overconfident and didn't even try to rise his guard, if the attack had hit head on that could be it (not sure about his main core tho). He gave Vegeta the time to accumulate energy and if you pay attention we can see that he's super buff after the Final Flash, just like Trunks will be next episode.
not really, that's what was imply at that moment, but that's before we learn about Cell true regenarative power, the one that brough him back stronger after his self-destruct, It's not impossible that this final flash could have destroy every last cell of cell, but it's very unlikely. actually worst case scenario would have been if vegeta did massive damage and cell came back more powerfull than never, and then even Gohan wouldn't stand a chance
