No one ever adds in the other Ash Ketchum vs Cell but I guess it's funnier if you watch that abridged series first.

Cell stepping on Piccolos head is actually smart because he can regenerate as long as his head isn’t damaged and even though this was just a dream Cell would’ve been smart enough to think of that for real. Also making Nappa Mr Satans manager was a BRILLIANT choice. Oh and one more thing if you look REALLY closely you can see the green tile among the others when Cell is making the ring.

Meanwhile cell can regenerate even when his head is destroyed “because of piccolos cells”.
@@lord_haven1114 probably a mixture between Piccolos and Friezas, since while Frieza can’t regenerate, he CAN live without parts of his body, and most of his head (evidence is Frieza still being alive after being sliced in half by Goku and not bleeding to death, and after being revived in DBS resurrection F, he returns alive only being a few chunks of his head)

@@KamuiCage no he’s right. Because I’m the movie it’s not written on the walls, it’s just written on paper. In the Simpsons Tree House of Horror V it’s written on all over the wall. So this is referencing that specifically

I love how Vegeta is somewhat respectful to Bulma's parents.
Yeah, he seems to actually like them. Goku and Bulma really mellowed the guy out over the years.

The video playing in Android 16's brain is a callback to what Android 17 said to Piccolo - "try living a few years in stasis with your creator repeating the words "Kill Goku" over and over in your subconscious". And they were HUMAN originally. It's a good addition that make Giro even more of a villain and their actions after getting revived more understandable.
# 001 And the cherry on top was when Piccolo said "Wow....Just Nostalgia" referencing Piccolo's own callback of King PIccolo doing a similar thing to him before he spat out his egg. Making Piccolo more relatable to 17 than he realizes.
16 was not human. Him and 19 are purely robotic, making them androids. 17, 18 and 20 were human before being augmented, making them cyborgs.
@@AGhastlyGengar Sorry, I meant 17 and 18 were human, so Giro torturing them with the same programming we see here is pretty damn evil. And it didn't even work that well.
Honestly some of the changes TFS made really helped flesh out Giro and the androids.
One of the best things DBZ Abridged did was fleshing out the motivations for Gero and the Androids. Legit improvement over the source material, in my opinion.
@@TheLanceUppercut 100%. And credit to Giro, the brainwashing kinda worked. Even though they maintain enough free will to kill their creator, 17 practically admits they're going along with 16's "Kill Goku" plan because Giro implanted the desire into them.

Dont know why, but I loved Vegetas "Your Culture is so confusing" Its kinda putting a spotlight of him beeing genuinly not a glorified Human whit a Alien Backstory but someone foreign to Earth.
And Cells Arena is just a alltime Classic.
Remember that when Nappa was revived, he called Vegeta to tell him he was now in Hollywood and made it big. He's a movie producer and was making a self-biographical movie about how he was killed by Vegeta called Citizen Nappa. Not gonna lie, I'd watch that. He'd also got an actor called Mark for the role, who he was gonna convince to take the stage name Hercule. So here, Nappa was calling Mr. Satan to tell him to get ready for the cell games and he'd take care of all the promotion. I think this also implies Nappa will be the one behind descrediting the Z-fighters after the timeskip due to media magic.
I love how fiddling with the arena isn't just because Perfect Cell has a week free with nothing better to do, but because he's a PERFECTIONIST.
And I can't believe this is the first comment to point that out!

"All training and no play makes Gohan a dull boy ..." Is a reference to Steven King's The Shining where Jack Nicholson's character begins to lose his mind and start rhythmically typing a similar phrase over and over on the typewriter he's been working with.
The arena being a circle is a call back to mr.popo saying all these squares make a circle.
So like I said before it's the best time to do the Cell versus videos before the Cell games begin.
Oh and btw , Nappa is talking to Mr.Satan .

3:16 that's a reference to a horror movie called "The Shining". You may know it from a picture of two twin child girls standing at the end of a hallway, holding hands and looking creepy. There was a scene where the character found a bunch of papers written with a typewriter saying one sentence "all work and no play make Jack a dull boy" which sets the mood of how this Jack person defended to insanity.
I think it’s Gohan’s repressed anger towards his dad surfaced in that nightmare. It’s not like a couple years in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber would fix that.

And for those precious few moments, Chi-Chi temporarily became my favorite character.

Did you notice that it's Cell's Theme from the old dubs? It's a new orchestration of it done by TFS themselves, but the melody is definitely the Faulconer Perfect Cell theme.
It starts playing when he says "I am Cell" during the announcement, and continues until he leaves. (Though it gets interrupted for comedy)
I've heard that the dream sequence was in the original series but was cut in the American release.

By the way, the Cell Games hashtag actually started trending after this episode was released. Heck, even official brand pages like Sonic and (I think) Arby's got involved.
The writing on the wall is a reference to Stephen King’s “The Shining” directed by Stanley Kubrick. Even if you don’t like horror movies, it’s worth a watch. There are A LOT of references in pop culture you’ve missed by not watching that movie: that’s how often it’s mined.

God I remember I started following TFS around the beginning of this season and the wait between episodes was insane. That being said I'm still proud we made #cellgames trend less than 2 hours after this episode premiered.
That first scene was in the sub only I believe. It doesn’t make sense bc Gohan wouldn’t know what Cell looks like yet

BTW now is safe to watch Broly and the TFS Cell Vs shorts( only the team four star ones not the devil Artemis ones ). The cell vs are like short vids 1-3 minutes there’s 10 of them can probably do one video

In defence of Yamca, i want everyoen to know....Yamca went from being killed a by Saibaman to defeating the Ginyu Force (with the help of Tien, Chaotzu and Piccolo) in a couple of months
Now that you made it this far, this would be the perfect opportunity for you to watch the "Cell vs" videos that TFS made.
It takes place during the 10 days Cell was waiting for the Games to start. It basically has him going up against different characters spanning a bunch of animes like Yu Yu Hakoshou, One Punch Man, etc.
It was a fantastic idea making Mr. Popo the root cause of all the bizarre things going on like with Cell's creation of his Arena, it wasn't explained in main series I don't think and just him being weird & mysterious in the series works and we wouldn't have thought twice Mr Popo is a Eldrich God.
