Absolutely right, if this passenger says is not purchased a ticket, then he has to pay penalty fare if no ticket, then no travel. I been taught strict policy on site when I was with TfL, and zero tolerance if you don't follow the rules

The reality of this situation is clear. The Passenger hadn't purchased a Ticket before boarding the Train, and therefore, had no intention of doing so. It's a classic move to hide in the Toilets. The aggression comes from being confronted, knowing he's done wrong. The Railway isn't a free Service. The Guard was right to insist that he purchases a new Ticket. I've known and seen Guards to remove Passengers who have not got a Ticket, and the next (upcoming) Station. The assault will have been reported to BT Police or the Police themselves. Keeping calm is key to defusing a situation like this.
Looks like the same conductor that tried to remove myself and my brother off the train at a station with no facilities just because our tickets were for a previous train that had been cancelled...not our fault and didn't care about the fact I was a disabled person...This was in 2014

If he has a Platinum American Express card, then he can easily afford another ticket. Though it was rather careless of him to lose it, and he especially shouldn’t take it out on the train guard. If I was in that situation, then I’d just shrug it off and say that it was foolish of me, and proceed to get another ticket. But I’m usually good with not losing my ticket, so it’s never happened to me.
