Does anyone know anything about the Quexs/Crispes of Thanet?? The Crispes were my ancestors and it said they lived in one of the castles at one point but I can’t figure out which.
Two errors in this report. 1. Kent is not a small county. We are ranked 10th below Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Devon. There are 30 counties smaller. 2. Rochester is not a city.

The first Royal Charter to recognize Rochester's city status was granted during the reign of King Henry III in 1227. In 1974 the City of Rochester became part of a new Borough of Medway, which also included the former Borough of Chatham and part of the former Rural District of Strood. Rochester is a town and former city in Kent, England. It is located at the lowest bridging point of the River Medway about 30 miles (48 km) from London. As for the use of the word "small", size is relative and I was using it to make reference to the Channel and distance between Kent and Nord Pas de Calais. I lived in Kent for many years but throughout all my work on Britain I have found it challenging to be accurate as there is so much history that kept changing all the relevant data within the feature I was presenting. It's very hard to give a complete history of any one area in short bite-sized features. I recall standing on a corner at an intersection in Bath and being spoiled for choice. A move in any direction gave a different perspective on history. Thanks again for your comments and insight. Appreciated.

Well, I mean, Lincolnshire is the second largest after North Yorkshire...
Oscar, no insult intended but second biggest county on an island the size of many back yards isn't all that big.
