Your tip about using a longer bolt saved my day. Took me about an hour to put the trans and engine together, or else it would haven taken many more hours. Thanks for sharing these tips!
Couple suggestions for you it only takes an hour there's only four little bolts in a bunch of little plastic push pins to pull the front cowl off pull the front bar off the engine where the hood latches to it you can swing that out the side put it over on top of your spare tire and remove the radiator because you're putting a new motor and any rebuilt motor remanufacture requires you to have a brand new radiator with a new motor so you cannot take that out anyway so pull it out takes about an hour to get out of your way then when you pull your motor out that bars out of the way you don't have to fight the motor back in and remove the motor with transmission on a pallet taking part together but make sure you get those flywheel bolts out
hilarious at the end: "This looks good. If you don't see bubbles, that's good, if you see bubbles that's not good"... 2 seconds later: bubbles come up LOL. I assume it was just burping air trapped in there.
Brotha I need you here where I am in NY to get my wife X5 back together right lol for real dude... I'm learning. So I will have to put my stuff on to it then drop into vehicle
I have 07 civic doing engine swap on it. I installed the new engine but I’m afraid my torque converter might not be engaged how can I check it before I go further with my wiring harness
One more question please: when connecting the two cables to the 5 speed manual transmission, do i just connect them, which was easy for me to do, or is there a special procedure? Does the shift gear need to be in neutral, or does it not matter?
Just connect like the way you disconnect. You can just start it without remove the fuel pumps fuse or remove the fuse cold crank. For me I just start it without remove fuel pump fuse.
@@alltsab crank but no start. I still have the front on jack stands. Could that cause no start? Gas is a bit low, but has at least 3 gallons. Does check engine light stay on before car starts? I don't hear fuel prime sound. Please help.
I finish my engine installation using your video. I'm down to the radiator fluid but it's not filling up like how your shows in the video. What do think it could be? Air?
You can also bleed the air by loosening the coolant temperature sensor bolt.Fill Radiator and coolant reservoir and start up.look to the right of the valve cover at the top, typically a dark blue plastic plug, unplug, get deep socket to loosen bolt just a bit and let it run until coolant stops leaking out and screw back in, plug in
Really appreciate this video! Have you done a JDM r18 swap? It seems some components have to be switched from the stock motor. Was wondering after that if it would be a direct fit even with the stock transmission? Would love some advice. But regardless thank you for the video. Gives me confidence🙏
I’m looking at doing this as well. As far I know, you just have to use the US intake manifold from your existing motor (provided its in useable condition). They’re about $230 if you decided to replace it new and it’d be much easier to do it before the engine goes in. You’ll use you’re existing A/C compressor - don’t disconnect the refrigerant lines, just unbolt the compressor and swing it out of the way. Look into whether you can use the JDM alternator or need to use the US market unit. As far as I know, everything else is the same.
@@codycarlson9441 - Hey! How’d it go? I picked up the JDM r18 earlier this week and the car was towed here yesterday. I know you mentioned swapping over all the USDM and I have had a chance to look closely to compare to determine whether I can use the intake. Was your project an apples to apples swap in terms of the transmission or did you install a JDM from an auto trans (like in my case)? I’m curious to know whether you had to bring over any water connection covers or thermostat housing etc. because it’s been reported they can vary from each other. I’d be interested to hear your experiences in doing the swap since they’ll still be fresh in your mind. Did you choose to use the existing JDM injectors (for ease) or did you bring over and reseal your US items? Did you end up doing the timing chain kit by chance? I’m considering that too.
@@doomedronin1148 sorry for the late response. Didnt see the alert. I used my US auto trans. It can't be direct fit and modify to fit but tons of headaches you going to get. If you live in restricted emission states or country it can't pass smog
Would it be harder to pull out the engine and transmission together on this civic model? or is that a bad idea? I like to pull both of them out when I swap the engine on my 92-95 honda civics.

How much harder is it to do this on this civic model than the 92-95 model? I've swapped engines on those older civics 5x already and it's pretty easy for me, but this looks more complicated.
You need to rent the compression tool from auto part first the take out all your spark plug out put the compression gauge in your sparkplug hole crank it until maximum compression rate to see how much compression you have.
@@sapounngin2237 I don't have exactly prices depends on who do it but it will be expensive because motor and tranny may be 2k plus already. Cheaper is just buy the SI model so you don't have to go with all the headache you have to deal.
Sorry, one more: at first engine start, do you crank without fuel to build up oil pressure first? If so, how do you disconnect the fuel? That's what i do with the older d15 engine swaps.
