Read my last comment plesse yes it is sad , he mis represents on purpose like he's the only real martial artist. This isn't good for tai chi I'm here for the good of tai chi .

You know what I'd like to see since there's still disagreements and unclear positions, if both parties feel they have clear points to make a structured Live stream in a debate format would be super fun, I don't see many formal debates on martial arts stuff mostly because people just spar or fight to solve it, but it's not always the way to go, particularly when it's stuff like this, very specific things discussed. Idk maybe it's not necessary but at least an idea for down the line

Yes. You should host it to make sure the footage goes out unedited

@@MartialArtUK let’s do the debate then. I can bring up more of your hypocrisy, like admitting you’re trolling, then trying to act like you weren’t before going back in that here. I look forward to you making yourself look like a fool again 🙏🏻

@MartialArtUK none of that makes sense. You are right, you aren’t very good at words.

@@indefenceofthetraditionalma This could be interesting but there would need to be a real will to listen to the opposite arguments... I found you very provocative and not very open to having a reasonable conversation here, you used a lot of rethorical questions destined to set him off... listening to this interview was kinda painful (from both sides) tbh.

Hiya can you link me the orginal video of the old tai chi guy so i can confirm who it is plesse ? And heres the google searches i refered to for you ie google search
" can a punch be caught in a real fight"
You can catch a punch, even a proper jab, only not as though you are catching a baseball. And you are not catching it on the strike but on the return.
" is catching a way of stopping punches"
There are 3 basic ways to defend yourself from a punch coming your way - blocking, catching, or evading. Evasive movements can take a lot of energy, so sometimes a better option is to block or catch the punches coming your way.
Yes, you can “catch” a punch. But you can't hold it.
Same examples can be found for differnt ma styles standing or grappling
Diffrent words for catch , sieze , grab , snatch, grip , control , redirect, intercept etc . Punches kicks and all types of limb or clothes grab. Tai chi is not often literal or identical in terminology.
I just watched your dan d homeage . Unfortunate mot to be an indoor student i am in chen but great you got in what you could at with seminars. What is the orgin story of tai chi , wu style that you believe is true ? Are you still pushing hands ? I do yang and chen preferring chen for more martial arts and push hands than the other styles . Do you still do a tai chi form ?
Do people insult bruce lee to get at kung fu people?

Okay. I went watching the video it was all about.
In Taichi culture there are a lot of demonstrations like this, and yes it is bad technique.
Also I know masters who performed the same way to impress and sell their school but also are legit and experienced fighters.
Taichi is in this weird place between martial art, health practice, folklore and spirituality.
I can appreciate all these aspects, just like I can appreciate the movie Ong Bak, a demo, a Muay boran form and a real Muay Thai fight... you just have to be educated enough to understand what is effective and what is not, and where effectiveness is not the point... which is not the case of most people on internet.

Or, sadly enough, in the tai chi community. The video of that old guy was being used in the fajin project as an example of how effective those throws are.
What prompted me to make that video was people’s refusal to accept the dangers of over compliance

That's good reviewing and feed back I agree the thing here is profound though it's about the ability to taijitu or in other words listen. I tried to be sensible but its this argument, if a tree falls in a forest and nobody heard it, did it happen . Its hard for alot of people to accept it is yes and the change needed is internal as in mind and philosophy only the self can change that. This is, if yang style works in a real fight but cant find it on RUclips, no . So it didn't happen . There is no debate here no friendly exchange no acceptance of the natural way over the technology. its been fun like a game but not everyone can play nice or want too . Happy to dicuss , chat make friends, I like fighting but I'm over proving myself, in tai ji proving yourself isn't the only goal . Happy training have a nice day

@@indefenceofthetraditionalma It's the old ways of marketing taijiquan. And it seems to still work today due to the nature of social media...props to Mizner and his friends for figuring it out early.
But is it really that dangerous though ?
Except if you get caught in their cultic pyramidal system, but I think that means you are actually more interested by easy money than effective fighting skills, you should eventually get out there and expose yourself to real fight training...
To me it was obvious that if I wanted to learn to fight I had to learn from people who actually do it for a living.
