Dad started teaching me to work on our old stuff when I was about the size of your little one, I was about four. I especially remember the Chevy Apache with a canister oil filter. The tune up: points, plugs, condenser. Cleaning and greasing wheel bearings. I wasn't the best option for him but the only option. I had a nickname then too: Tornado. If you can get the junior online, he can do the easy stuff, like bump the starter until the points are on the cam, clean the bearings and dust cap with a coffee can of regular gas and a toothbrush (yeah, the orange stuff we used to wash our hands in after working in the garage). Pour the old oil along the fence line to keep the weeds down. Hold the trouble light so dad couldn't see what he was doing. "Get that ------ light out of my eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hold it HERE!" Thanks for the memories Wes....

The molten bead will melt through the surface rust and bond the pipes. The arc never starts well on rust. Just my $.02

Thanks for the closure, I was having trouble sleeping this last week thinking about that truck! My exhaust project on my truck ended up pretty much the same. I tried to get the nuts off the studs and almost every one of them broke off. I drove the old studs out and just nut and bolted it back together. My old 96 F250 used to have a bell ringing sound in the front suspension, drove me crazy. Could not find what the heck was causing it, it was a 2wd truck with the I-beam suspension and it turned out it was a cone shaped washer that held down the spring to the axle.

The best thing to do is chain the rad cap to your engine hoist lift up push the truck out and drive a better truck under the cap and lower it . The reality up here in Canada right now is that's a 15K truck in somebody's mind as is. I'm looking for an extra truck and that's what guys think most of the bent rusty junk you seem to fix is worth with high KM's and no safety, Its kinda interesting though lots of it don't sell. I've watched some for 2 months and if I make realistic offers based on the truck condition and the work to make it legal they get offended L.O.L. Take care.
