Ken, Thank you so much for this information! I'm in the process of starting an aerial business, and this is some information I needed to get! Keep it up!
Dude, I’ve been telling Dad jokes since I was 7 years old and grew into it so you’re my kind of funny. Your humor and delivery is f’ing hilarious! I’ve been following your videos for a bit and your info is spot on and appreciated. And for both my wife and my drone, I’m a pincher not a thumber.

Hi Ken, to start, " I'm a pitcher and not a thumber". I have been following your RUclips videos for some time and you provide very good content. I have been flying UAS and Drones for over 40-years and now have moved my hobby to commercial. I am a Part 107 commercial pilot and look forwarding in learning from the master, you.
Thanks for convincing me to sign up for Dronepilot101. I thought I could do it on my own and I may be able to, however, I'll stack the deck in my favor. I only want to take it once. Oh, and I'm a pincher not a thumber!....from day one, thanks to you. Have a great New Year.
Interesting analogy with the steering wheel vs pinching. Weren't we taught to drive with our hands at 10:00 and 2:00? And yet, the steering wheel heater barely reaches those points. Maybe they want you to pinch the wheel instead of "hand" it? The wheel on my GMC heats all the leather spots.
Since losing my thumb I'm only half as good at pinching (I only go out for half a day on St. Patrick's Day). When I fly I use the Pinch & Stump Method.
Great stuff Ken, been watching you for many months, finally subscribed. Started flying R/C back in 1986, same now as I was then: I'M A PINCHER NOT A THUMBER!
hey i got a cdl yeah the fines are steep . maybe ill get that drone licence . never thought about it. thats awsome man u get fly drones and make money at the same time . cant beet that.
I'm a pincher, not a thumber. Found myself doing it with my Phantom 2 because my thumbs would shake. I was also hearing the motors quiver because I couldn't keep the sticks steady with my thumbs.
I'm a thumber NOT a pincher hehe. I come from gaming PS4 to be exact, between thumb & pinching really depends on the person, coz the gimbal & stick ends plus calibration can make a thumber just as precise as a pincher. I changed from X9D plus to X-Lite Pro. The drones you mentioned for me are commercial/business drones using monitors but what about fpv drones with goggles? I started testing with the DJI Tello drone over a controller & mobile phone, I thought I was still too young for this, (I'm 41) I needed Top Gun maneuverability & action. That I can even start a FPV drone wargame but that's later. How I got into drone flying was through a report about the US military drones with percision missles, well the report said the missles weren't so percise. But still flying jet drones! I do perfer to use the drones to help ppl, location, a different perspective in the direction of art. Coz every FPV pilot is also an artist or any pilot. Interesting review, take care (fast foward DEC/2019_2020)
If I said " I'm a pincher not a thumber" I'd be dishonest with you. Many times I tried to get the hang of it. Now that have a Zino, (only had 4 flights cause of crapy weather here in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada) because it hovers so well that I tried again and are just so nervous cause it's my first "non toy drone" but what you said with the pen and paper makes so much sense. The end of your video was written by the pen taped to your thumb I'm guessing. Good job and Happy New Year.
Nice info. I wouldn't want to possibly hurt someone flying in the city areas and it falling out the sky like that but beautiful shots. Hope no one got hurt.
Hi Ken. I work for EMS in my area. Last summer we had a woman go missing at night. We live in a rural area where there are no police helicopters. A man had a drone that was FLIR equipped. Unfortunately the woman had been washed away trying to cross a road that was flooded. So he was unable to find her. His drone had a FLIR equipped camera. The FLIR attachment you showed at the end of your video would not replace a FLIR camera on a drone even if you were running the video through your phone would it? Great video. Thanks for the info.
Love content Ken! I am in process of getting 107 endorsement. Joined local CBO. Having problems with airspace waiver for Karma and Phantom Pro. The rub is, the flying club's airstrip that is maintained by the city of Nashville is just inside of the 5 NM radius from BNA tower. Now, RC aircraft, that weigh the same or more than my drones and drones that weigh less than 0.55 LBS can fly as SW aircraft approach. The GPS in both of my drones, won't let me take off. Needing to request waivers at least 90 days in advance of flying date is rather challenging. Well, take care.
Awesome information as always. Next month I'll have had my phantom a year and I've been taking practice tests and studying so I'm hoping next month or by March I'll be ready to take the Part 107, the airplane/airport codes are killing me but I want to have my license. I've had several friends ask me to do some aerial work for them and I feel bad telling them I can't (I also know I'm missing out on some really great opportunities) Anyways, thanks again for such a great video, I always look forward to your videos and I have learned so much from them (and been entertained by them too) Happy New Year Ken!

Thanks for convincing me to sign up for Dronepilot101. I thought I could do it on my own and I may be able to, however, I'll stack the deck in my favor. I only want to take it once. Oh, and I'm a pincher not a thumber!....from day one, thanks to you. Have a great New Year.
This is great stuff Ken, I hope you hit 100K subs before March. The new drone flyers are coming your way. Yeah!
Thanks Jack!
I'm hoping for 100K. Fingers crossed!!
i used your discount code and it was $149 now $104 , thanks ken
That's great!
Good luck on the test.
I'm a pincher not a thumber, but I learned flying RC airplanes and helicopters. The pinch really helped with the rc helis
I'm a pincher not a thumber!
I started thumbs and realized the difference pretty quick and switched.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Ken for the pinching tip...gonna go out tomorrow and fly with ALL of the important fingers...not just my dumb thumb.
That's great!
Take it slow until you get used to it. 🤓👍
@@KenHeron Took out the drone, pinched it and it was sooo much better.
The flying was good too.
Great stuff Ken, been watching you for many months, finally subscribed. Started flying R/C back in 1986, same now as I was then: I'M A PINCHER NOT A THUMBER!
Welcome!
Thank you very much for subscribing. I really appreciate it!
Ken I wanted a Heated steering wheel. Thnx I do have a drone. By the way they (DJI) fixed it well after I got in September camera out of Focus
Glad to hear it Nik!
Well truth be told. I'm a thumber not a pincher. Love your videos!
hey i got a cdl yeah the fines are steep . maybe ill get that drone licence . never thought about it. thats awsome man u get fly drones and make money at the same time . cant beet that.
Ken, I'm a beginning pincher not a thumber thanks to you and your edutainer videos!! Thanks so much for inspiring me !😁
You bet, Bobby!
I'm a pincher not a thumber. I'm also new to drones so I don't have any bad habits to break. Thanks for the advise.
I'm a pincher, not a thumber. Found myself doing it with my Phantom 2 because my thumbs would shake. I was also hearing the motors quiver because I couldn't keep the sticks steady with my thumbs.
I'm a pincher, not a thumber, new to drones and really glad I didn't develop bad habits too early.
Glad you enjoyed it!👍
You do what you're comfortable with.
Glad to see your getting around much better ! Happy 😃New Year KEN .
Thanks for this, Ken! Great video! Happy New Year
Nice info. I wouldn't want to possibly hurt someone flying in the city areas and it falling out the sky like that but beautiful shots. Hope no one got hurt.
Glad you found it helpful.
Nobody was hurt. 👍
Thanks for your service to your community, Chuck!
No, the FLIR attachment was just for the phone.
I was already a pincher and not a thumber. That's what kept me in the principle's office most of my childhood.
Haaaaa!!
You can apply for a 'token' to release the GPS in Class D airspace through the Go App.
I'll be making a video about it soon.
@@KenHeron Kool! For specifics, the Music City Aviators fly in Peelers Park.
Thanks!
Awesome information as always. Next month I'll have had my phantom a year and I've been taking practice tests and studying so I'm hoping next month or by March I'll be ready to take the Part 107, the airplane/airport codes are killing me but I want to have my license. I've had several friends ask me to do some aerial work for them and I feel bad telling them I can't (I also know I'm missing out on some really great opportunities)
Anyways, thanks again for such a great video, I always look forward to your videos and I have learned so much from them (and been entertained by them too) Happy New Year Ken!
