Great Video... I’m in Spain and this would be an impossible flight. Spain has no mobile apps to get quick permission although if you stood in your flight zone you would need the Internet, a printer, a computer and about a 2 week wait to hear from AESA...after sending in a flight plan .......at the end of which they would say a big fat NO.... by this time you may have got arrested for hanging around at the building as a possible robber trying to break in 😂

There is a park here in Charlotte right in the middle of the city and I flew my drone there yesterday with the LANCC app. It works great you just have to follow the rules.
Smart getting dude there to watch the drone. You know what your doing, Took notes. Avid flyer. Full up legit. Got Armap a few weeks ago. Didn't think about the insurance. Thanks!
nice video!! just a suggestion, lay your antennas flat and turn the range extenders around facing up instead of facing the sidewalk. It seems to work better on my P4 that way when i'm flying directly above me.
Hi Ken, You have similar rules in the US as we do in Canada. It is good to know, so If I travel down there and want to fly, then I will know what to expect. You guys make a great team, and your flying skills are top notch! You had some smooth captures of the building! Happy Droning!
Great video have to check those apps. I didn’t set RTH height high enough a couple of times and it automatically landed on top of tall building -happened couple of times - can’t believe I got it back. You would think as big city like Memphis would refurbish such a landmark.
Fun video Ken. Exploring and shooting video is what I hope to make time for with my drones. Still working on my flying skills. You do give me encouragement to try!
I fly downtown Denver all the time, less than a mile from the stadiums, even during games. i dont fly high, less than 30 feet, lower than tree line, and never had one issue in 2 years. Its an industrial area, so no ones ever around to complain.
If you are in controlled airspace the grid (LAANC authorization) sets your max altitude. The 400’ over if you are within 400’ does NOT apply in controlled airspace...
Epic episode! A beautiful day for a flawless flight. Thanks for showing us how it's done. Never been to Memphis until today and I got a kick out of the pyramid.
Wow quite a sight, and great information... wild that the tallest building around is abandoned, condemned but for good reason. Thanks for Sharing this.
Ken, the Drone U guys say that the people behind AirMap are trying to gain the power and influence to be able to charge people for time in the air, therefore they use the "UA Sidekick" app. I switched and I use that now instead of AirMap.
People climb in, on and around that building nightly. There are some awesome photos out there from some brave explorers. Little known fact about 100 Main-there was a Japanese rock garden on the roof in the early 1970's.
I love your videos ken! We need more fpv/ GPS drone meet-up in Tennesse !! I'm here in the Knoxville Area I've commented on Josh Bardwell videos and said we need a knoxville meetup
I think we could use some of you action types to the greater St Louis area. There are very few places you can fly around here, downtown is basically a no fly zone due to Arch grounds, stadiums and the government. Going across the Missouri River I contacted the St Charles county parks system but of the thousands of acres of parks spread all over the county they limit drones to a few hundred square foot area of one park located at the westernmost boarder, and have rules that don’t match the FAA’s but won’t admit that. I’m not sure what to do but private property is about our only option around here.
That's a shame. When I heard the FAA was about to make the arch a no-fly zone, I drove up there and filmed it ONE day before it was off limits. Such a beautiful city!
So real question. I thought there was a solid cap on the 400ft? Does this not apply if the target is taller than 400ft under the updated rules? Great video! I always look to this channel for drone education.
I just completed my first LAANC flight in restricted airspace, approved for 200'. Now is that a hard 200', or is that 200' above a structure that I'm within 400'/200' of?
So much good info in one video, thank you for sharing all of the app names etc. that you use. Incredibly helpful, I am just getting started in all this, I do not want to be "that" guy that screws it for all of us. Knowing the rules and grey areas is a good thing ... nice vid what a beautiful day for film.
It used to be easy to access. Then some squatters started a fire in the building a few years ago and now they have a wall around it. People still get in there but I know for a fact that the owner is willing to prosecute.
I like your videos! Your funny with a sense of humor. Great educational video. I had those apps on my phone but deleted them after I needed memory space to edit more drone vids. Lol I cant imagine paying that much each time I flew. But i guess that's in major city areas where the risk are high. Keep up the good work👌

Ken, the Drone U guys say that the people behind AirMap are trying to gain the power and influence to be able to charge people for time in the air, therefore they use the "UA Sidekick" app. I switched and I use that now instead of AirMap.
How awesome are you!!!! Not only do you fly and make great videos....but you drive an RX8 my all time favorite vehicle other than a drone
Hey, thanks Jason! 🤓👍
What a great, unexpected beginning to the video! Too funny!
Really good video. I find it instructional on how to drone the right legal way. Thanks
Just found you and your videos. Very helpful for a beginner. Thanks
Glad to help!

Excellent content, good to see USA Police is nice and friendly, thanks from London - YASAJ TV
put excitement aside it is also very educational about rules and laws, thank you for the vid
Glad to help, Berk. 👍
Way cool! Thanks for this one, I work in downtown Sarasota, FL. I use my drone for my building surveys, 12 floors.
Great interaction with Ryan the cop! 😂. So cool!!
Another COOL and educational video Ken! Ryan was a pretty cool contact! Great video, thanks!
Amazing video! Really liked the way the cop reacted
Thanks! Yeah he was really cool.
Driving a Mazda RX-8 here too, so definitely enjoyed your lil intro there :D
driving an Rx8 gives you infinite points of COOL.
Thanks!
ZOOM-ZOOM.
Ken I read faa pop-up about flying over people or cars Vantage Robotics Snap drone is faa certified to do that so that rule has a loop hole
Great flight!! You have steady hands 🙌… great music choice , great content and was surprised when the cop knew you 😂
I think we could use some of you action types to the greater St Louis area.
Great video Ken, helped me understand how to fly in a city around tall structures.
Glad to help!
There are some cool cops indeed. Found a couple downtown Manhattan they were amazed of the shots.
So real question. I thought there was a solid cap on the 400ft? Does this not apply if the target is taller than 400ft under the updated rules?
Great video! I always look to this channel for drone education.
Hello!
Maybe this will help:

I just completed my first LAANC flight in restricted airspace, approved for 200'. Now is that a hard 200', or is that 200' above a structure that I'm within 400'/200' of?
So much good info in one video, thank you for sharing all of the app names etc. that you use. Incredibly helpful, I am just getting started in all this, I do not want to be "that" guy that screws it for all of us. Knowing the rules and grey areas is a good thing ... nice vid what a beautiful day for film.
I love how you put a lot of effort and love into your videos blessings from CA
Thanks so much!
Now Ken is toying with us. We do expect an exploration of that building sometime.
I wish. It's locked up tight.
Big time trespassing.
Maybe I could reach out to someone in the city though...
Stay tuned. 🤓
It used to be easy to access. Then some squatters started a fire in the building a few years ago and now they have a wall around it. People still get in there but I know for a fact that the owner is willing to prosecute.
Awesome video brother great job flying safely in a busy downtown area ✌🏼
Thanks Ken Great flight like always love your work. Have a great Sunday
I like your videos! Your funny with a sense of humor. Great educational video. I had those apps on my phone but deleted them after I needed memory space to edit more drone vids. Lol I cant imagine paying that much each time I flew. But i guess that's in major city areas where the risk are high. Keep up the good work👌
Thanks bud!
I'm guessing from your username that you have a rotary? BRAAP!
@@KenHeron no i wish! maybe one of these days. my name comes from the riding of dirtbikes and such on my channel and filming them with the drones. although lately ive taken a break from the braap side of it and just been flying in general. my banshee is getting work done so when its up and going ill be posting more of what i like to do...
