Is it possible that a lightsider, who may deem him or herself to be a the epitome of virtuosity --- the pinnacle of righteousness, can be so jaded due their extreme piety that the may view themselves as above and beyond the average non-force sensitive person to the point of believing that it is their sworn duty to think for and govern ordinary citizens because they feel that they may be too ignorant or worlds to govern themselves?.. Think of the mad Jedi Jorrus C'baoth.. An astute and respected Master by profession who was assertive -- even aggressive at times, when he dealt with ordinary citizens of the Galaxy.. At times, he forcibly imposed his own judgements in rulings in matters of negotiation concerning regular people and was so arrogant and self righteous that he would force nudge people in his way as he walked. And, in MY opinion, Kylo Ren was one of the interesting new figures in sequels, but even this is not enough to just say "Sequel trilogy is good tho lmao". As the one who stated before, from visual standpoint sequels are really good: the first film combines animatronics and graphics, like the original trilogy does, and originality is objectively bad. Personal opinion: I feel like 200 years seems a bit too brief if they want to do a story like this. I remember in episode 1 the Jedi specifically said that they haven't encountered any Sith for thousands of years. The pirate and planet villain seems more appropriate for a one of story, not a full blown origin franchise. If Lucasfilm wants to be liberal in terms of creating new lore, why not travel back for ten of thousands of years ago just when the Jedi/Jeddaii order was first formed and the Galaxy was still stuck with steam punk 17th century like vehicles and weapons like the Dawn of the Jedi book
I sort of see the Old Republic as the Middle Ages. It expands over a great period of time with constant wars and changes in power. The Mandalorian War is also very similar to the expansion of the Mongol Empire and the Great Viking Army. Similarly, the High Republic can be compared to the Renaissance. They both follow events and reforms that led to a more relatively peaceful and culture-focused era.
I'm probably going to be a little contrarian when I say I actually kinda like The High republic (So far at least) And while we aren't exactly getting the Old Republic I do hope that when they do get to that period of time we will get the stories we all know and love. Reven, Treya, Exile, Ectc.
Despite not being sure about this, I would love to see them incorporate Darth Zannah and Darth Cognus in this. Bane's apprentice and her apprentice were two very different Sith. Zannah was a beautiful, yet terribly powerful Sith Sorceress, and Cognus a scarred former assassin who could see the future. It would be interesting to see how they started to shape the Sith grand plan.
It's interesting. Disney seems to promote High Republic as 'less dogmatic' and possibly more flexible period. But according to all the logic: it should be least flexible, most dogmatic and by large a margin least 'progressive' period of time in Jedi history. But I think the reason why they do it is that no one in Disney seems to agree with notion that overly 'plentiful' and easy times give birth to actual dogmatic, inflexible and at times oppressive ideology while the times of strife Old Republic represented had to be flexible to balance things out and assure Jedi survival during those times. But hey: one of their main points was to bring dinosaurs... so... yeah: I'm not having high hopes for that Star Wars story.
This is quality content: informative, neutral, and detailed yet still personal. I’ll watch more of your SW vids for sure. Also - why did they put the “High Republic” only 200 years before the OT? I think it’s a cool concept to show the post-KOTOR golden age of the Jedi but like they have thousands of years to work with. Why keep the timeline so short?
I hate to say it but your info about the Ruusan Reformation in relation to canon is incorrect. In Legends the Galactic Republic was founded ca. 25 000 years BBY. After the end of the wars with Sith ca. 1000 BBY the Ruusan Reformation was implemented and the Galactic Republic continued on until Palpatine's Empire. In Canon the government before 1000 BBY was called just Republic or later Old Republic. The Galactic Republic was founded ca. 1000 BBY and just like in Legends in lasted until Palpatine's Empire.
What about the Mandalorian Wars? Didn’t they take place before the formation of the Old Republic? I’m legitimately asking. I don’t remember it’s been so long since I’ve read up or done any research on the topic.
Andrew Boccasino if I remember correctly, I believe the Mandalorian Wars happened during the Old Republic era. I’m only basing that off of what I remember from the first KOTOR game because that happens directly after the Mandalorian Wars and during the Old Republic Period. I think that’s correct anyway.
Yeah, I just finished my first play through of KOTOR, where Revan defeated the Mandalorians and is/was now leading the Sith in conquering the galaxy. I think it said 2 1/2 years after the Mandalorian wars in the loading screens.
judging from obi wan kenobi's word a "hundred years treaty between the republic" it could be a possibility that the mandalorian wars started 500 years ago
On one hand the high rebellion bloc has almost no large scale interesting events and has not been fleshed out in legends so that’s good we will get more stuff for it, and it doesn’t contradict current legends most likely, however the reason there is nothing there for legends is because it’s an era with nothing really happening aka boring and also it’s Disney.

There is nothing really that isnt politically correct about what we want. Who says it has to have so many women. It is all just story writing and what fans want. Disney doesn't understand good writing. They can try to make what they have like other Disney shows politically correct. But they cant with star wars because it isnt truly theirs. Am I seriously the only one willing to give High Republic a chance? I love the Old Republic, but that story has already been explored a lot in Legends. High Republic takes place in a period that not even Legends explored much of. It's something different, something new. And I am really excited for it. It's not Old Republic, but it's not supposed to be. I'm personally really excited to see the new characters and conflicts that the High Republic could have to offer, as well as if there are any Sith working behind the scenes. I'm optimistic about it because a lot of the new canon is good. The comics, the novels, The Mandalorian, Rogue One, Rebels, etc. If you want Old Republic, you still have Old Republic. If you want new stories set in an unexplored era, you have High Republic.
Legends always went into the Sith vs Jedi, which becomes redundant after Revan and Bane since they became extinct (to the Jedi at least). Personally, I kinda like the idea of exploring what the Golden Age of the Jedi was. Seeing them at their height so we can compare and contrast them in the Clone Wars.
Look at the whiteboard Lucasfilm had made and tell me that it is distinct. It’s the exact same thing with these characters nobody is going to care about.
The saddest part is all of the new fans who don’t know or never will know about the Old Republic. And then the “fans” who will try and claim the High Republic is better than the old republic even though they never read or played anything related to the Old Republic.
I'm already running into that. Hell, I'm even starting to run into people who claim to be Star Wars fans but have never seen the prequels, let alone the OT.

@@Spartan-vo5vg because it was created in 2003 that wasn’t why it had a retro artistic that’s just how Star Wars has always looked all Kotor did was create its own artistic in a new Era yet still continues to look like Star Wars. Unfortunately the Old Republic in a lot of elements followed this but it also has a lot of elements which just don’t look like they belong in Star Wars to overall armour design which look too much like modern technology or Sith armour which makes them look like an 80s hair Metal band to the ingame World of Warcraft artistic which does a lot of harm to the overall look (my biggest problem) Some elements I love and others I just don’t like. On the topic of Story I honestly enjoyed it but it’s no Kotor and many agree it completely butchered Darth Reven.

The sith were in hiding in the prequels as well yet they were dope
@@apomtaylor8054 Yes but here's the thing. In the prequels, the sith actually did something. They duelled Jedi and commanded the separatists (through Dooku). The sith went into hiding 1000 years before episode 1, and the Jedi thought they were extinct during that time. So sith shouldn't be making an appearance.

In my heart Legends is my canon (with some non contradicting “canon” stuff) (no sequel trilogy)
sequel trilogy is good tho lmao
@@themikeyrussell69 nice troll but people don't fall for that nowadays.
@@darthgiorgi4990 😂😂😂
@@themikeyrussell69 That's a matter of opinion. From a visual standpoint the sequels are beautiful and stunning. Originality? I'll let Palpatine speak for himself once he rises from the dead again. The plot? Snoke shouldn't have been defeated in The Last Jedi, he should've been defeated in Rise of Skywalker. Rey being a nobody with nobody parents is much better than her being a Palpatine, or any other relation to any character besides Ki Adi Mundi since he was actually allowed to marry and have children.
@@themikeyrussell69 Im gonna dissapoint you, but sequel trilogy is really bad at some places (especially 2 last films, the first one atleast TRIES to be interesting and new, but Mary Sue Rey and other things ruin it). Although i must admit, the OST in the sequels were good. John Williams never dissapoints with OST. Same with plot. But again, its only mine opinion
And yes, i love to speak in essay
That's actually a really cool way of looking at it! I love it!
Someone with a thought process ? Interesting 🧐
And the clone wars being World War Two and the galactic civil war being like that Cold War
The difference is of quality.
Ball Gang HOLY SHIT CAN YOU SEE THE FUTURE. Cause if you can’t I can’t imagine how you know the quality of a project before reading it

Actually it is not. The difference is that fanboys are nowadays way more dumb.

The Antichrisp what are you taking about dude Charles Soule at least has been absolutely killing it lately and he’s leading the project.
Right,
Star Wars fans: WE WANT OLD REPUBLIC
Disney: high republic got that’s the same thing right I mean no darth revan but still the same right 😅
I hate to say it but your info about the Ruusan Reformation in relation to canon is incorrect.
I think he just misspoke
So if I'm correct, the Old Republic takes place before the High Republic? And the High Republic takes place before Episode I, right?
The Mandalorian wars are 3976 bby. This is around 400 bby to 200 bby.
judging from obi wan kenobi's word a "hundred years treaty between the republic" it could be a possibility that the mandalorian wars started 500 years ago
Even if it did contradict it doesnt matter because its legends and legends doesnt really matter

Here are the three biggest differences between the old republic and the high republic:
- Old republic - worked hard at explaining and detailing key features that we see in canon today (sith, mandalor, etc)
- Old Republic - is mentioned by name in canon on a number of occasions, most famous being Obi Wan in A New Hope
- Old republic - was cooler than the high republic.

Star Wars fans: Stop ruining star wars with this politically-correct garbage, listen, we wan...
Disney: What you said, a family friendly era? Here it is!
@Adrock 99 I don’t think that any of us wanted that shitt of a sequel trilogy that we got
@Gaius Wyrden that’s exactly the shitt that Disney has been throwing at us! We’re trying to make a point here.
Basically people try to give Disney constructive criticism because their movies suck booty cheeks and then they just say that “we hate women” or that we’re “racists” then they try to force in social politics and more “diversity” instead of focusing on good writing
Also who in the hell were you talking to when you said “so you really are anti feminist sexist” nobody in this comment section has mentioned anything regarding that in any way at all. You saying this is just implying that you think that we are “anti feminist sexists” by not liking the sequel trilogy.
You are truly a woke.
@Gaius Wyrden yea I noticed it was ironic which is why I got so pissed off originally
There is nothing really that isnt politically correct about what we want. Who says it has to have so many women. It is all just story writing and what fans want. Disney doesn't understand good writing. They can try to make what they have like other Disney shows politically correct. But they cant with star wars because it isnt truly theirs. You could literally tell a star wars fan to write the script and oversee the filming and it would be a huge success
I’m black
Was that funny enough?
I wish Disney would listen to the fans and give us Old Republic instead of constantly holding up the middle finger to fans.
but then they would give us old republic
and more fans would complain about them copying the eu
there is no way lucasfilms are able to give us something without being hated on for dumb reasons
@@revanchist2256 There's a misconception that Starwars fans are difficult to please. That's not true in the slightlest. Look at the mandalorian a small scale story that includes an original character that united the fan base. Same with the clone wars series. We're not unreasonable. Give us something good and we'll like it even if its somthing small like the mandalorian. I think everyone would love an Old republic film. This idea that starwars fans are difficult to please and all want different things is peddled by disney apologists who are pissed that fans hate the sequels.
Bro... It's fucking Star Wars fandom... they are dumb and can't read books.
I think they’re going to slowly slide into the Old Republic I mean think about it did we ever actually learn about the Galactic Republic in the EU.
You do know most SW fans only know the Old Republic from the fucking CGI trailers they put out for the game right? I can count on one hand the number of people who I've met who have actively played the MMO
And you haven't read a single High Republic book, so pot meet kettle. News flash: you're allowed to enjoy both.
