    According to my experiences as blending technique more easily for your oil pastels application is to put some gesso as primer + a layer of acrylic paint to cover up your canvas, before applying your oil pastels of any brands! So will have a kind of smoother and pastelmat Claire Fontaine feeling texture for your application with yours oil pastels!

    I haven't made any art since high-school but my favorite medium was always oil pastels. I plan on doing a cardinal on canvas. Doing some more research I found this video. What a coincidence that you demonstrated oil on canvas with this bird. I love the way you made the feather look. I'm so excited to start on my new project and would like to show you when it's finished.

    Wow! That Robin came out great on canvas. I love your sgraffito technique to bring out the feather detail. I personally would not trace directly onto my PC monitor-it cost too much! I usually just print the image out, then trace over that.

    JE trouve de l’endos des canvas se travaille merveilleusement bien plutôt que l’endroit manufacturé et peinturé en blanc! Le résultat est particulièrement surprenant même avec les Pentel cheap, essaies-le si tu en as envie et tu m’en donneras des nouvelles! On peut peut même utiliser la technique du sfumato de Vinci! 😊

    I think also if you gesso the canvas it will be way easier to fill in the white gaps but only thing is it will have to be very dry and most likely with the higher quality creamy pastels so as not to scrape off the layer

    • @SyndiaArt
      @SyndiaArt  6 лет назад

      I did Gesso the canvas but like you said, it works best with the creamy professional oil pastels and not as well with the student grade...

      Oil pastel on canvas is a little more tricky than on paper. If you have a bit of linseed oil or even baby oil, it helps blend everything a lot easier.

    Nice vid!!! I know Ive recommended stuff to you before, Im not trying to tell you how to work or anything, but Ive been an Oil Pastelist for quite a while now, and I really hope you try those daler and rowneys! you will be happy I know it! Also I dont know if you have tried the caran d'ache neo pastels, but they are absolutely amazing, and the soft OP I go to for my top layers and final detail! They are just as good (better IMO) than the Senneliers, just IMO though! ; ) Thay are also way cheaper, but still pretty pricey, but worth it IMO! also wondering if you have tried the faber castell creative studios, Ive heard they are a decent hard OP that I like to use for sketching, underpainting layers, etc...Im thinking of trying some, but mainly I use .....hard OP: sakura carypas expressionists, medium OP: Daler & Rowney, and soft OP: Neo Pastel!!! ANyways thanks for dedicating the time for these videos..I appreciate anyone who works in OP because it is such a under-rated, criticized/hated-on medium, I love OP!! HAve a good day ; )

    • @SyndiaArt
      @SyndiaArt  6 лет назад +1

      My next OP purchase will be daler and rowneys and caran d'ache for sure :) I wish I had more time in a day... I'd love to make 5 videos a week!! But It's so time consuming. I have lots of video subject ideas. Don't know when I'll get to reviewing those OP sets but I will for sure! Thanks for your recommendations, they are super helpful. Have a nice end of the week :)

    It's beautiful, do you treat your canvas with some kind of medium before you start, I am very new at this I want to try a canvas one my oil pastels are cheap, I have not tried the walnut oil or the linseed oil yet, I was wondering if you could do a video of the supplies you use for your arts, I purchased the Derwent inktence blocks and pencils I like to use them on fabric and then some how make it into a quilt art to hang on the walls one thing about the water pencils is what kind of medium to get to stop the bleeding over into where I do not want my colour to be if you have a video that explains what products do that would be a great help...Thank You, Syndia … Love your new home and your dog is so sweet, I have a little yorky she wants to be with me all the time to...God Bless you and yours...Brenda

    • @SyndiaArt
      @SyndiaArt  6 лет назад +2

      Dogs are the best! You don't need to prep the canvas for oil pastels. I should really do an updated oil pastel 1st kit video... Also I'm really not familiar at all with watercolor and water pencils. I've explored acrylic paints mostly...

    Your my oil pastels guru ...... I have 4 different brands of pastels ....sennelier ,gallery artist , daiso japan and portfolio's ... I was wondering something . I watch tutorials all the time and everytime I watch them , there using pentel ... Which I don't have.... Am I missing out on something ? Whatcha think ? ...

    • @SyndiaArt
      @SyndiaArt  6 лет назад +1

      I'll be doing a full Pentel review soon. The thing is that you can get a 50 piece set for 6$ u.s. and they have pretty good pigment. For the price, emphasis on "for the price", they are really good! In my opinion they are the best of the cheap oil pastels. But if you love oil pastels and don't mind paying a little more (20$) The Gallery Artists' are my fave and a lot better than Pentel. (Not counting the King Sennelier of course, because $$$). Hope this helps.

    • @SyndiaArt
      @SyndiaArt  2 года назад

      Oil pastels take a couple weeks to harden. They don't dry but they somewhat harden. Sennelier makes an Oil Pastel varnish to protect them. Hope this helps.
