Even if nobody else ever saw a single one of your videos, I want you to know that it has been worth every second of effort you've put into them to me. I have been totally blessed by them in 2023 and can't wait to see what's in store for next year! Thanks a million just for being you!!!😊
Oh Michele you are absolutely brilliant! You are such an amazing teacher!! I am a 71 year old beginner to everything really and have only been around for about 2 years but for all of those 2 years I have been been looking at several wonderful teachers for information on pastels. Dry / oil / pan. How to use, when to use, etc. I have never once heard all of the amazing information you have provided here - thank you so so so much. With your explanations I have also learned why things didn't work that I may have tried in the past. Pastels are something that have drawn me since I was a little girl, but nothing I have watched has ever made sense or worked, so I actually just have them all packed away. Until now! I honestly can't thank you enough. In all the mediums you are an absolutely amazing teacher and I just want to thank you for being here. I hope that you have a wonderful holiday season!
I paint with acrylics, so I use water-soluble pastels to introduce transparent color onto a light opaque base. It’s great for portrait shadows and highlights. But I will try your oil pastel tips on my landscapes, especially where I want to make tall grasses and sparkling water. Thanks.
Yes Please!!! Would love a full tutorial on that tracing of the lotus flower on paper, that was fascinating!! I recently just got into oil pastels maybe 2 months ago, so this video was great timing! Love the boldness of the colors, i couldn't ignore the fluorescent colours when I saw them at the art store even though I had no idea how to use them? The colours are just so vibrant and add a lot when i put them on flowers, meadows, grasses, and skies of my watercolour paintings. But, since I am new to pastels, still trying to figure out the best techniques. Love your videos ❤ you have helped me a lot this last year on my journey of discovering watercolour.
Love this... new sub and new at using this medium; I inherited several from my baby brother who passed over in 2021 from " Turbo" cancer at the young age of 56. So, I really want to learn to use them! Anyway, I'll keep watching😊
Thank you so much for the tutorial, it's very comprehensive and beginner friendly. I've been using acrylic paints for years and wanted to try something new today ❤
I really love oil pastels. Than you for showing your favorite tips. I would love to see more on this medium. I have a beautiful set of Senellier oil pastels and want to use them more! Thank you again, Michele!
Oh! Yes, if you haven't already done it; I would love more on your watercolor and oil pastel techniques; it was beautiful to see the rainbow succulent plant in this video with the oil pastel outline and coloring in with the watercolor. Amazing!
I enjoyed this video very much. I work with pastels (dry type) and have been curious about the oil type. I love how you show so many different techniques . I look forward to watching more of your videos. Great job explaining and thank you!
Thank you so much Michelle I really really enjoyed watching you take us all through the oil Pastels blending, I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up too
I am a mostly watercolour hobby artist (not successful with social media, so it stayed a hobby) but I got some jaxon oil pastels for free with a order and would like to actually use them so yes I am interested in a video with watercolour and oil pastels togheter if you don't have them yet. never used oil pastels so I need some tutorial till I get how they work. 😊
Yes please, would love to have more videos on oil pastels and watercolour! I have heard about water soluble oil pastels - do you have a tutorial for this medium?
I really appreciate your wonderful extensive tips on using oil pastels Michele! I didn’t realize just how versatile a medium it was or that it could be used on the variety of surfaces. Thanks for sharing this valuable information with us. I might have to give it a better chance on its own now that I know a bit more about it! Thanks 😊 again. Merry Christmas 🎄 & have a Happy Prosperous 2024 New Year!
Great video Michele, I'm a real beginner when it comes to certain techniques. I think you've encouraged me to just get 2 or 3 oil pastels and see how it goes! PS I love your nails!!!
LOVE this, I just started using Oil Pastels a few weeks ago and got my first semi-professional set today! :) The Paul Reubens set is really nice to work with, in my opinion!
Thank you for the tip to not use my best brushes to watercolor over the oil pastel. I wouldn't have known that, and I would have messed up a good brush.
Thank you for the great video on oil pastels. One of my favorite surfaces to use with this medium is sanded pastel paper like Pastelmat or UArt 800 grade sanded pastel paper (400 grade works well too). The extra tooth allows for many layers that can produce beautiful effects. Thanks again for all of your videos and spending the time to create such wonderful content.
I think I'm hooked, Michele. What a great video, I'd love to see more tutorials using oil pastels. Thank you for all your teaching throughout the year and have a brilliant Christmas.😊
But you didn't show how some of these techniques come together in an art work. It would have been more helpful to the student to show a work in progress.
I'm learning so much from this video. Very new at this. I found acrylic paint harmful to my lungs and made my throat raw, so am trying my hand at oil pastels. Thanks for all of these tips!
Just started using oil pastels again after finding some old stuff i did in high school! This is incredibly helpful, as i never learned any techniques or anything, i just messed around with them in high school!
Thank you so much for your videos. They give me lots of ideas and inspiration. I have never used oil pastels as they always seemed like children's crayons, very messy and unwieldy. You have given me the details and information I needed to use the set my grandchildren bought me for Christmas. Thank you.
Wow! Thank you for such a great informative video about oil pastels… I’ve never used them before. I could feel my creativity starting to bloom while watching! These look like FUN!
I decided to try mixing oil pastel with watercolour so was on your site to learn how to use them. As usual, I enjoyed listening to and learning from you. Thanks Michele.
Thanks so much. Yes, a succulent oil pastel & watercolour video could be useful. Now to watch your next video. Tried these tips & particularly found pleasure in the oil pastels on paper & pushing a pattern through flimsy paper then covering with aquarell! New to me such fun. Thanks.
Now that my holiday cards are done, I've been chomping at the bit wanting to get back to oil pastels. Voila! Your vid appears!😊 Preservation and sealing are of interest, tho so many say "they never dry". (Mostly due to the high wax content). Using fairly soft oil pastels-and finishing with the ever so pricey sennelier, is my favored style. I dislike the drier ones as i fight to spead and blend them. I Like your tips, all genres, thank you!!
This video is amazing, thank you so much! I just ordered oil pastels and I'm so excited to try them out. I'm always a bit overwhelmed when I try out a new medium in art, but your video definitely helped me to get more familiar with the diversity of oil pastels. Thank you for boosting my motivation! I'll definitely refer to your channel for more art tutorials in the future
Great video! Showed me all the things I needed. I’m going to try some today. Thanks so much. I will be visiting your site for more ideas. This is really a great medium
Thanks, Michele. I was curious about how to use these, and what substrate was suitable. This answered all of my questions. I'll get a few to experiment with the next time I buy supplies. :)
Thanks for another great video! So excited to see that you enjoy oil pastels, would love more on the subject please. Merry Christmas Michele🎄and thanks again for such great content. ❤

As an oil painter and oil pastel artist, this video made me very happy.
Ah, thanks for watching :-)
I want to provide a free class for kids this summer and I really like the simplicity of the mono-printing. So yes, a full tutorial would be great.
I paint with acrylics, so I use water-soluble pastels to introduce transparent color onto a light opaque base. It’s great for portrait shadows and highlights. But I will try your oil pastel tips on my landscapes, especially where I want to make tall grasses and sparkling water. Thanks.
No problem!
I really needed this, thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Great informative vid; thank you for posting!🎉❤
Thanks for watching!
I DO want a video on tracing an image/photo with oil pastels underneath and watercolor on top! 🎉😅😊
Very interesting video. Would love one on using oil pastels with watercolour.

Hi, I did one recently, in my Masterclass playlist (pale pink hollyhocks), it's featured in other videos too, on hair, fur or petals.
