    Thank you for this video! I am an art professor set to do a pastel demo in my Drawing II class tomorrow, but with this massive winter storm coming I was looking for a video as a back up in case campus ends up being closed. I am so impressed with the range of techniques you covered and explanation of papers and pastel qualities. Even if campus is open I am glad to be able to share this with those who can't make it in. Thank you so much!

    I loved every second of it and being something which everyone would need,I don't have to express my gratitude to u, I'll just say u r the best elder sis I've got even though we've a large age difference but who cares about it, I think the bond is more important❤️❤️

      @@monetcafe I've been able to draw well all my life and have painted in watercolor and a little in acrylic with my first oil finished last month. I've sold a few which makes me think I should have applied myself:). I'm 71 and am so far behind on learning techniques (no classes really) that I'm way behind. So I will be trying to use many of your techniques. Were you accomplished from the start or was your ability learned? I won't keep bothering you, promise. Its our 51st Anniversary today and Debbie thinks I need to get busy with this:)

    Thank you for the wonderful instructions given here! I just love that you demonstrated some of the techniques at the end. I took my extra soft pastels to class the other day and my art teacher said I’m not going to like them and I told him to go sit down!😂 we have that kind of relationship LOL I don’t mind the mess! I do love to blend A LOT so I’m trying to become more loose. I also love the fixative. Is it bad to use it at the end? I don’t want to have to add parchment paper to each page of my sketchbook. Thanks again for sharing ❤

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  Год назад

      Hi @ilovetocrop, I never spray a fixative on a soft pastel painting since it always darkens the final image.
      To protect my final painting for shipping or storing, I place them in a clear plastic bag I get from www.clearbags.com/bags/flat/flap-tape/crystal-clear. I buy the bags a bit larger than standard sizes so I will have room for the painting and a piece of foamcore board cut to the size of the painting. Here is a video of my process:ruclips.net/video/4XD4SezFyBg/видео.html&t=209s

    Love this. I have had some health issues the past few years and haven’t done any artwork. I just decided to get back to my studio and my pastels.
    I bought some inexpensive pastel paper to start with & after reorganizing my pastels and adding a bunch of new colors ( because I just can’t resist them) I will use this to get my artwork rolling again. I also subscribed to your channel.
    Thank you. I can’t wait to get into it….. again. It’s been far too long.

      You are so welcome Lisa, and I think it’s a great idea to just gather up your supplies and have some fun doing little exercises like this. It’s often good to get back into things by just doing small studies and having fun.

    One of the first videos I've seen. Super newbie here. I think I've hit the jackpot here with Susan Jenkins. I'm really looking forward to watching some more basics and techniques videos before looking into her Patreon site.... I'm scared of being so new and not being able to keep up, I do find u very fast, but I suppose with a full-length video, it won't be so fast... I hope¡!! So, a big thank you was what that ramble was about.
