#1 tip nobody is talking about to solve the Formula Vee is using left foot brake, right foot gas. The reason the FV has such heavy oversteer is a combination of things (rear engine, light car, wheelbase, easy transfer of weight, no downforce on the rear, etc.), and to overcome this is to maintain traction in the rear. You've already heard the basics, brake before turning, stay in 3rd, take it easy before tires warm up, etc. But these are all rules that have to be broken eventually and are meant to help new racers just get around the track once without spinning out. What nobody is talking about is the use of the gas peddle WHILE braking. That's why you need to use two feet to drive. Try pumping the gas about 25-50% as you start to turn (not needed as much during straight-line braking) and you'll almost eliminate spinouts. It plants the rear end while braking.

This helped me alot. From spinning out twice per track or being 5 seconds off the pace of my low rated rivals to solidly lapping and qualifying 3rd.

Ahhh... this was really nice for a noob like me. I was always going into 2nd and there for I had to slow way to much down not to kick our the rear and spin. Thanks man.

i am struggling trail braking with it, but it is essential to make competitive lap times. It always goes to uncontrollable spin instead

As you lift the brake try to use also throttle. This worked for me.

Hey mate, what Irating are you at? I disagree with the stick to 3/4 gear, when I got into iracing and the vee about a month ago I initially came to the same conclusion but after watching some track guides I realised that in a lot of corners where you have an entry speed of around 100-85kph shifting down to second a little bit after doing a late apex actually gives you about 15-20 degrees of rotation in exchange for about 10kph which can boil down to up half a second of gained time depending on the track and corner, I would also appreciate if you would share your experience in regards to shifting assists in the vee?

i used to try downshifting to 2 in slow turns like the hairpin at tsukuba but it unsettled the car so much it didn't seem worth it

The video is for beginners trying to get around the track without spinning out. Shaving half a second off a lap should not be the focus at this point.
