What I'd like to see you do which nobody else seems to have done. Make a video on the force feedback feeling and what the target is. Explain the feeling of wheel slip (understeer) vs grip and the difference in the tire sounds.

This video just shaved 2 seconds off my pace. Last night I was practicing GT3 at Virginia for the first time this week and was able to manage a 1:48.8 after about an hour and half. I watched this video and just jump into a practice session for the first time since last night and by lap 16 I managed a 1:46.7. I’m blown away cause I always knew trail braking was my weakest skill but really didn’t believe it would be that big of a difference maker. I have to replicate this tomorrow to be sure but Suellio, you seriously just put a confidence in me I haven’t had my whole sim racing career. Thank you 🙏🏾

Ok so, on Iracing Mugello track my best laptime 1:49.800 got it once with lot of focus and effort. My average lap time is 1:53.ish, I am very inconsistent. I watched this video and after 10 min of driving, I am not getting more than 1:51.00! I watched a lot of videos on trail braking, and never got it, simply because no one explains the why! This man here and Driver 61 are the only I am watching from now on. They care about the community and helping races to get better and freaking deliver in 5 min FREE video unlike lot of others who cares only to show us how good they are and get viewers! I dont care from where I need to go to hit the apex, I want to know how I can hit it. This guy nailed it! Sub sub! 2 years on sim racing, you just unlocked me whole different world!

@SuellioAlmeida This is crazy. I was training at Zandvoort with the Ferrari 296 GT3 in IRacing. I tried an online race and was 12th at qualify. Then I tried this trail braking technic to turn initially with the pedals and not with the steering wheel for about 2 days. I'm really far to master it all, but I could qualify first being about 2 sec faster. That's crazy. I thought I was trail braking already, I understood that the objective is to keep the weight on the front tires to have more grip. That's so described everywhere in books and on Internet. But if we don't apply what you explain, it cannot be effective. Why are there so many driving tuto's, but nobody explains so precisely like you what we have to do? Thank you so much!!

    • @SuellioAlmeida
      @SuellioAlmeida  Год назад +12

Coaching is difficult. People think driving fast is enough for you to coach others, but that is so far from the truth. I'm able to explain things this way because I coached 2k+ people and I was always taking notes and analyzing what worked and what didn't, what steps were necessary, etc etc etc etc!

I’ve just started IRacing because of your videos. I had no issue getting top laptimes on acc with my potentiometer pedals but on IRacing as trail breaking is a lot more important I’ve definitely noticed that it’s nearly impossible to get consistent… so yep.. load cell and cockpit are on the way 😂
This video is obviously going to help massively too. Thanks Suellio!

    If I may add:
This whole thing with turning in earlier gently and giving the car time to load up the outside wheels can be practiced IRL very well in road cars that roll quite a bit.
It just gives you a very pronounced understanding of the difference between introducing the car into the corner gently vs chucking it in and unsettling it.
If you're in the sim in a agile, stiffly sprung race car the difference can be to subtle to really appreciate.

Nice and concise video, thank you !
One question about grip though, i believe self aligning torque maxes before the grip.
My interpretation is that 'fishing the grip' relies on getting a precise feel of SAT just starting to drop without understeer.
These few degrees of steering that 'pin' the front enabling a small oversteer mid corner to exit earlier.
Some pilots have this spectacular 'fighting' style on the limit, 'dancing' with the pedals also to push the car on the limit.
It's not clean but it seems as efficient.
I'd really like to have your views on that.

Great explanation. Would be interested to hear your thoughts about gear selection and speed of downshifting into corners. I observe the faster Esport drivers use a gear higher than I do but when I try that, I struggle to get the car turned and rotated into the apex and tend to understeer a lot i.e. lower gears help me get the car rotated with the additional engine braking but then I find I lose a lot on exit (and my lowest corner speed is probably a lot lower). This is on F1 23.

I like to go around the track and not let the cars gear go above the lap number. This way I start slow and add a bit more speed each lap. Look for braking points and racing lines while going slow

One of the things I learnt from suelio in another video is let the limit of grip take you to the track limits don't just drive out to them artificially because you think it's faster. When I practice new tracks I just go around slowly and learn the braking zones I pickup pace every lap trying to push myself to the track limit on exit.
