For those confused how he could be increasing in rotation into the corner whilst his steering wheel was straight, it's because when a car is rotating right, the linear momentum vector of the car is to the left and so from the perspective of the front tyres, the front tyres are actually turned to the right a bit of the linear momentum vector and so they have a slip angle that generates a cornering force into the corner. Normally though, the rear tyres cornering force counters the fronts and stops the rotational acceleration but since he's braking, the extra load on the front taken from the rear, means the front cornering force is bigger than the rear tyres cornering force and so the car accelerates in rotation. That's why trail braking is so beneficial too. It allows less steering input for the same yaw rotation acceleration effect.
I do love a physics explanation for a concept that is 2nd nature at this point. Asphalt oval is a good place to demonstrate the effect of trail braking on rotation. There are tracks in the ARCA car where a driver will use 5-10% steering to set the nose, then the wheel comes back to center and the rest of the rotation is coming from the brakes. "It's amazing how many drivers, even at the Formula 1 level, think that the brakes are for slowing the car down" - Mario Andretti
Love your videos, i just started sim racing 2 days ago and I am already winning rookie races thanks to your tips. The biggest problem I currently have is eye/foot/hand coordination while driving. I miss braking points or steering angles because i cant switch fast enough
I actually felt this on a race I had this week, there was this guy that was around 1,5 seconds faster than everyone else on the front of the field, when I looked that the replay to analise what he was doing I saw we were braking basically at the same point, but the rotation the guy managed to get was surreal.
Great lesson, I'm about a midfield driver trying to get to the next step. I've read that whoever who turns the steering wheel less wins the race. I'm like your student driver trying to turn the wheel all the way over for rotation. And I can see the faster drivers peeling away. This makes a lot of sense. Excellent work.
Loving the advanced technique videos! The best content on RUclips right now for sure! I always get super excited when I see you posted. Thank you, Suellio!
9:10 Obviously he will describe it far better than I could… but for my own inner dialogue, I feel like this could be described as “ideal balance of drift and grip” or maybe just “slip angle”… the dumb thing is that Su is teaching it and I’m starting to crack the concept after hearing a variety of descriptions and explanations over the last few years! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Thank you Suellio for this!
You make the best simracing training content on RUclips. Most others allways came with the same simple tips that allready everyone knows except beginners…
I already used it for myself to steer very lightly because I have a T150 thrustmaster with very little ffb. only now I noticed the difference that I only apply this in the entry phase of the corner. Now practicing to do it through the entire corner. really saves me tenths. I think if I trade in my T150 for a direct drive it will be even better.
Kudos for learning well on your old seat! I see you took the wheels off, but those seats will still flex under you (maybe more I as I'm a bigger than average guy). I don't know if you've dug into having a rigid seat with some students, but in my opinion (especially transferring to loadcell) that's the biggest and best change to make before getting new electronics. That and marking the floor where a movable seat should be returned to
Idk if you or anyone else is gonna notice this to either try it or elaborate on it, but I went back to Gt7 from ACC to try karting, and I kid you not, spending a week racing karts was the best «coaching» i ever got, as the pedal input/rotation correlation is so saturated, you can almost steer withouttouching your wheel. Especially for me at least, as I really like the «hyper sensitive» setups, where inputs are cruicial. Idk if its a gimmic, but would love some insight on it.
Sometimes i like to think driving/racing is like cooking. It’s nice knowing the recipe (or theory) but use your ‘feeling’ to cook some good shit! Same with driving, u know the basic concepts but feel what the car/kart is saying to you. The thing about the trail braking early in the video is a good example of that
Loving your videos. Question, the brake and throttle trace overlays, is this something that is available live in game (i typically play ams2)? If it's part of some additional telemetry software can you advise which one? Most software I've found, I can view retrospectively but not live. Or is this something you're editing into the video for demonstration purposes?
I’ve bought Moza R5 bundle with performance kit and it’s really impossible to push brake on 1% during race. I can do it in the menu, but it doesn’t feel like 1% of force. It’s about 5% probably. This is a problem of non load cell pedals
Hey Suellio! I know FFB settings are mostly personal preference, but I'm curious what your thoughts are on strength. I know some people prefer a specific output (Wheelbase max torque output/iRacing Max Force slider setting) of 0.6:1 because it feels pretty close to the real car. I like the detail that you get but I often find it too heavy especially mid corner.
Since I started watching your vids im much faster driver tbh, I was able to set some records in AMS2, and cars are much more easier to learn for me now like new Hypercars in AMS2, even if im now on g29 :D
Hi Su, your RUclips videos are awesome. Quick question do you thinking fitting multiple bass shakers on a sim rig will help with getting a feel for vehicle rotation during braking etc.
@@SuellioAlmeida oh ok thank you. I was thinking the big thing about real driving our Bum or back side is a sensor for vehicle rotation we can’t use that sensor feedback in a sim. If the car is going to oversteer was thinking the bass shaker may give some indication (but not the best solution). I know the wheel gives feedback but not to the BUM.
@@savroothe only really useful way to simulation feeling oversteer is through very advanced yaw rotation, which to do properly will be a crazy amount of money
Great video but very annoying and distracting subtitles. Hard to concentrate on the visuals when words are being splattered on the screen as they are spoken. Please use captions so at least we can turn them off.
Hi< I like your videos a looot. I tried using the link for your website and its not working for me. Also how can we chat. I wanna talk about private lessons. :)

This concept, he teaches me in a coaching session, changed 100% my driving. Totally!
You have a bright future my friend. I hope someone notices you or your results on track are representative of your understanding of car handling.

I know that this is technical but this is what simracers need. Data "driven" content is very fruitful.

Excellent video, very well explained. Thank you.
It almost looks like you're keeping the car at a tangent to the corner. I gave it a try and it works.
Just brilliant!
Thank you so much. Sharing these important techniques with us is very generous.🙏

I believe he's using iOverlay which is iRacing specific. I'm pretty sure Simhub can overlay similar traces in AMS2.
@@bigredracingteam9642 Thanks, I've since determined the same regarding simhub. :)
You mentioned that you added a couple of mods to your G29 to make it easier to control your braking precision. What mod did you make?
Hi Suellio, love your vids. Is your Coaching only for iRacing? I‘m driving Raceroom and need your Coaching 🚀
No, it's for all sims! We can schedule sessions as soon as you finish the online course, The motor Racing Checklist!
Where is iRacing and what platform is it? PS? PC? X-Box?
Amazing thanks for the advanced techniques
Awesome video. The goat
Damn I just realised that this is the exact reason when I try both lines, they feel equally fast.

At 8:10 mark, so you're drifting eh? Turning left to go right :D
Sadly playing Acc on console .... i get no telemetry to work from ecxept my inputs on the hud 😢 i wish they could add a udp out somehow
Su the braking to rotate the car does that also apply to a car like the LMP2 or GTP?
Yes but it's more tricky since they're very sensitive to the pressure. It's very easy to do it too much

I always look for settings that get very close to peak torques around ~11Nm for all cars! It keeps it consistent for sim racing
It'd be nice if you could create a video with ffb setting on iRcaing. The Logitech dd feels so loose on this game but great on gt7 and acc :/

Hi Su, your RUclips videos are awesome. Quick question do you thinking fitting multiple bass shakers on a sim rig will help with getting a feel for vehicle rotation during braking etc.
Not really! You'll see that most esport drivers don't have any motion or shaking
