  • 12 weeks, 12 different cars, that's the premise of Dave Cam's Done & Dusted Series this season. He's already run the GT3, FF1600, FIA F4 and last week, the new LMP3. This week, Dave is taking on another open-wheeler that he's not confident in, but at a track he is, that being Okayama International Circuit.
Through the first third of the season, Dave has been able to gain 203 iRating points, mostly racing in cars that he's familiar with or at least comfortable with enough to succeed. As we move later into the season, however, with all the good picks "done and dusted", maintaining that positive gain will be the challenge in store.
iRacing's Formula Vee SIMAGIC Series is on the menu today, a 12 lap race around Okayama against a host of talented racers, such as Dave's competitor from the Porsche TAG Heuer All-Stars series, Xabier "Heikki360" Sanchez. Dave is starting third on the grid behind Heikki360 and another competitor, Ricky Johnson.
The drive is still alive for five straight weeks of iRating gains. Where will Dave slot in this week, and will it result in adding to the already large number? My only other question is when does Dave have to resort to racing in NASCAR or a Pro 2 Lite truck?
Don't forget to head over to the Traxion.GG website and RUclips for even more Dave Cam videos, plus everything else we have regarding racing games, esports and sim racing equipment. As always, keep it pinned!

Love the Vee. Once you get the hang of it and get in a good split, it’s magic!

Driving without his usual tasteful livery suggests this car isn't the only thing that's a bit rusty!
Using a manual gearbox adds a nice bit of jeopardy, but it's another polished performance!

I owned one of the beetles the parts came from. The rear suspension has one pivot point on each side as the axles come out of the transaxle. When you lift or unload the rear the wheels go positive camber. When you load the rear their camber goes Negative. My trick is to throw it into understeer and back off on the throttle let the rear rise, and go positive camber, then when pointed at the exit, nail the throttle which makes the rear go negative camber and bite in. You steer the rear with the throttle.
I saw by your face you figured that out about halfway through. 2nd and 3rd are way too far apart to use, stick to 3-4.
It's fun, but I think you can learn bad habits for other cars.
My transaxle was a 1960, it had a chunk of graphite for a throwout bearing.

Go on Dave, that was brilliant, thank you. Would you mind doing a video on your main channel about heel toe and how to successfully and efficiently use an H-pattern in iRacing, and specifically cover heel-toe and how you do it? I think this car and the Mustang are the main ones that use H-pattern. Speaking of which, you haven't driven the Mustang yet. Will have to do some research to see when the high SOF Mustang races happen but it's (a version of) the car you drive in real life!

Great race! But why do you say you're not good with the car, but are able to comfortably sit at the front of top split? Are there cars you are genuinely off the pace with on tracks you know?

Dave is a great driver no doubt but in this car is very forgiving when running in a pack. You can be .5 seconds slower than the car in front of you on pace in clean air and still comfortably stay within the draft.
