I want to agree with you but you're talking about 40K for a gti and near 50k for a R. What has this world come to. Inflation is so crazy that at those prices its considered bang for your buck.
@@Anon_Fox Literally no one in their right mind is selling a GTI with a markup right now. The S trim starts UNDER $32k and you could probably get it for even less right now because GTIs are all being discounted currently.
Those plastic pieces on your wheel arch are for US regulations, where there has to be a part of the wheel arch which is a certain distance covering the wheel. They come off quite easy. The reflectors again are a US spec. I live in the UK with this motor and we luckily dont have either attached. You can also get a manual gear boxin the rest of Europe and I think Canada.

Audi has gray bolt covers that came factory on those wheels, 🤷🏼 might be something to look into if you’re keeping the wheels. They are one of my favorite wheels, they are just stupid heavy!
Reading the news from the big VAG tuning houses, they're only a few months to having the TCU cracked. Also, I love the Mk8, the 8.5 debuted and looks even better.
You should use 5W40 if you’re planning on tuning and modifying. 0W30 is piss water and does a lousy job protecting the engine. That thin oil is just used for emissions and fuel mileage

if you look on the driver side door and the bottom corner right, it'll tell you when the car was made, if it says 9/21 .. you'll be able to tune your transmission.
The key hole in the door has lube, so they for sure inserted it into the door when it was new. I know cuz I tested this when I first got my mk8, and I was confused at first why my key then had lube on it.
Hey Cam, this is nice. Im here in AZ too. I love the VW too. However mine kinda let me down and it buried me financially. Mine was a 2011 VW Jetta 2.5 sel. Started with the trans, replaced it, then overheating issues, then, recently $600 from the dealer to replace the cracked cooling flange. After a week from getting it back from the dealer, head gasket blew. She’s now sitting in my garage. My wife is yelling at me and wants to junk it but I refuse 😂. Don’t know what to do with it for now. Wish me luck. New sub here by the way. Love your vids.
That oil extraction pump is cool but wouldn’t you want to pull the oil plug once to check out the magnet? At least every few oil changes I would be curious.
Not a fan of reflectors on any car. Hate when they are inside the headlights as it requires baking them to take them out. In the bumper is significantly easier

The little plastic pieces above the wheels are there for regulation reasons. There are rules about how wide the wheels can extend pass the body of the car. Manufacturers do that to get away with being within the limits legally.
The black pieces on the fenders serve as an extension of the wheel well, legally, to satisfy requirements in certain states/countries regarding tire protrusion. They are literally just there to make the car "technically" a few mm wider.

Im looking at a set of 19x8.5 5x112 ET45 w/57.1 center bore for a winter set for the 2024' MK8 Golf R I just bought. That center bore is stock for GolfR and your vid says there was some play so Im wondering what else about the spec on those rims (if anything) may have been different from the spec I posted above.
Get different center caps (such as vw floating caps) other than the alzor ones and with a drop I think itll look a whole lot better. What makes the wheels look 'cheap' aside from being reps is the badge since its a different color than the outer lip (at least on camera).

It needs to pass emissions and there's also a 420 turbo wastegate actuator fault? Probably need a downpipe and o2 sensors for emissions. Wondering if you want to do a video on getting it read to do medical transport. It looks sick. Wanted to put wider, bigger rims from adv. They're expensive, but look sick especially when they're custom painted. Also it would be cool to go through the whole car and see what mods have already been done and parts have been added. Maybe do a custom tune and put in a back seat cover/partition. It's also going to be used to help homeless kids get back and forth to school, so it's a good cause. Homeless kids and kids in shelters, or in the foster system. It would be cool to have like a more eco mode tune, mid tune, and high performance tune if possible. I don't know. Cameron, please let us know what car you like better the B9 S4 compared to the MK8 Golf R... I have been on the fence on getting both of these cars and I can't decide which I want more. The S4 has the better interior but the R has great body styling and both are roughly the same price if you get a used S4!
All Black rims suck....wats the point if it looks like ur car has no rims (cant see em) and they are 20+inches and cost a whack.Grey and silver contrasts work like the rims you have here....Bright bling silver or copper is dope and a full rotor style rim that counter rotates when filming that's the schnit.
As a Manheim employee (different state) it's always so funny to see and hear peoples first reactions to the auction lol. You get so used to it being there every day you just think nothing of it and sometimes the questions people ask seem so simple or easy to you but then you remember that these people have no idea what's going on and it's a brand new experience. The trucks that they are just "storing" is probably accurate. There are some companies/dealers that will use the auction as storage or to have some simple reconditioning done and then they're taken out as needed. Also- repo cars smell HORRIBLE and it's almost like all of them have the same smell for some reason, it's not fun especially when you have to drive them around full of disgusting trash and other things in the car and the awful smells. All things considered your repo was not too bad lol. Just my 2 cents for you as someone that sees it every day!
As an owner of a mark 8 lapiz blue golf R, the OEM Estoril wheels look the nicest. Those wheels you have on cheapen and ruin a lovely car. However it’s your car, not mine! 🚙
That's probably not earwax, the key has some thick looking grease in the grooves from the factory. Unless my VW dealer also stuck it in his ear before I took possession.
The black pieces are fender flares as the tires stick out just a hair too much so I believe the gov requires it from factory…i\I found out three another car review. 🤷🏾♂️

The things on the wheel arch’s at 16:30 are there because of width regulations. Matt Watson from carwow explained it’s to do with tyres not exceeding the width of the car but for sportier cars to get better grip they have a greater track width and so instead of widening the whole body the manufacturer puts these small plastic bits on to make the car ever so slightly wider
Those plastics on the arches in the uk, have to be at the most extreme level with the outside diameter of the tyres allowing larger tires to be fitted if any new wheels/ tires are proud of the plastic then become illegal guess the same for usa

The wheels look great! The performance numbers that the 8R makes are crazy. 400+hp with just a tune on stock hardware. I know you work with 034 a lot, and I love their stuff (my b9s4 is on their stg 3 file) but maybe give EQT a try. They did a great job with my MK7 and I know they've made tons of power with the MK8 platform.

you only need to change the oil plug if you take it out from the bottom. if you do the extractor from the top you don't gotta worry about it.

The oil difference comes with different gas levels in the EU where these cars come from. E10 or E5 is normal in most EU countries

Liqui Moly 5w-40 (blue bottle). I personally don’t use the thin ass MPG cheating oil manufacturer recommends.

you could get the newer 2016 RS3 Rotor wheels. sharper design suit better the mk7s and 8s. These old style rotors go better on the mk5s and 6s

The wheels look great! The performance numbers that the 8R makes are crazy. 400+hp with just a tune on stock hardware. I know you work with 034 a lot, and I love their stuff (my b9s4 is on their stg 3 file) but maybe give EQT a try. They did a great job with my MK7 and I know they've made tons of power with the MK8 platform.
