Hey! I do not have a short travel trail bike test planned sadly. It is tough to do without support from the manufactures. The one I just did was awesome to be able to do but it was a lot of money of bikes that I had to have with only 2 of the 6 bikes being sent to me by a manufacture. I will reach out to brands again in the next few months to try to put something together but not many of these brands ever reply which is a bummer. I would like to do more of them though so definitely going to try to make it happen!
I ordered one! Santa Cruz was swapping shipping companies or something so it got delayed a little but it should be here in the next week. Only bummer for getting a video out right away is I leave for a trip at the end of next week. So we will see if I get it in time to ride it and get a video edited! I have a good feeling about that bike though.
@@dialedmtb Sweet! I'm anxious to see what you think of it. I didn't get a Tallboy, I found a deal I couldn't pass up on a 429 Enduro. It gets here Monday, hopefully I don't regret not getting the Tallboy!
Hey! I did ride the 140 but the video is not as great as I would have liked it to be. I will still probably post it up here pretty soon though just because so many are interested in it.
I was able to get the SB140 video posted up this morning! Didn't do a comparison to the shootout bikes.. but it would be Top 2 overall for sure IMO. ruclips.net/video/6H2dZusB_rU/видео.html
Heard that is a great bike! But I think it would feel a lot like this bike. I really enjoy the way Pivot's feel though, I almost got a 429 instead of my Element last Fall. It sound like Pivot will have a Demo here in about a month, so if I am in town I will definitely be trying one out then!
Would love to hear an overall comparison video between all the new Yetis. And if you can then compare them back to previous gen…not sure that is possible. Sounds like you own the 160 and previously the 115. This helps ppl like me that do not have demos available locally.
Yeah I owned a SB115, a few SB130's and I also had a SB150 for a short time. I do currently have a SB160, the only problem, I would honestly need more time on both the SB120 and SB140 to confidently tell people what I think about them. I got maybe 2 hours on the SB120 and only about 45-60 minutes on the SB140. Maybe if the channel gets a little bigger Yeti will have me review some bikes for them! I will say I am very impressed with all of Yeti's 2023 models. They are a lot more comfortable and across the board I think more people will enjoy riding the new bikes since they are not as aggressive feeling of a bike and they all seem to be a lot smoother and movable than the previous generation.
Yeah I have, I have multiple videos on the Spur on my page! Here are some links: ruclips.net/video/SR8fo03utN4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/WCQdZ_Ipu0E/видео.html ruclips.net/video/SQT1yvxO2S0/видео.html But I will say I would probably prefer the SB120 LR XO over the regular SB120 or Spur.
The Stealth Brakes feel the same as the old ones. I think even SRAM said they didn't change the performance at all. Stealth brakes were not on this bike though, I have used them on other bikes. I really like the new SRAM AXS Transmission, it is a little slower then the old AXS but its super smooth! I really, really enjoyed the 140 though, if I had to pick just one of those two bikes I would go with the 140.
The 120 does climb better, not a crazy amount better but a little bit better for sure. The SB140 does descend really really well though. I would go with the SB140 LR for my only bike for sure!!
The SB140 LR I think is a better all around bike honestly. It climbs just as good as the smuggler but then does everything else better in my opinion. It is a higher quality frame as well. I just posted the SB140 first ride this morning if you want to check it out. ruclips.net/video/6H2dZusB_rU/видео.html
They definitely have a different feel. The rocky feels long and pretty stiff feeling which makes it feel more like it wants to stay on the ground and has maybe just a little bit more stability but not as comfortable., Then the SB120 feels more nimble and flickable, and plush on the descents but while climbing it is super supportive, probably a better feeling climb and maybe even a little faster.
Yeah it’s definitely a trail bike, I would say it seems like Yeti might just be out of XC bike for now. Who knows they might come out with one sometime in the future but I wouldn’t think it would be anytime soon.
I think so too. That’s why the V4S are on closeout sales right now. I think the new one will have the same geo as the Ripley AF. So 1 degree slacker HT call it V5S and slap a $9k price tag on it.
I owned both a SB115 and multiple SB130's. This bike is for sure different then both of those bikes. I would say it is closer to the SB115 still though. Maybe 65% SB115 and 35% SB130. For me it was better than the SB115 in pretty much every way. Definitely does not go down hill as confidently as the SB130 but I 100% expected that.
The Geo of the 120 is still pretty steep, the reach is pretty long but that is about it. Fairly short wheelbasse, steeper HTA at 66.5, I like the steeper STA for this bike. But the SB130 is still 1 to 1.5* slacker than the SB120 and longer everywhere. The SB140 is not even slacker then what the SB130 is, but with that the SB140 feels a lot different then the 130 surprisingly.
@@dialedmtb yep, based on geo numbers alone the SB130 and new SB140 look pretty similar on paper. I ended up getting an SB130 (on sale, great bike) but wondering if I should have held out for the SB140 in sangria. 🔥
The SB130 is an awesome bike for sure and you will be stoked with it! The SB140 is definitely a different bike, even though the geo looks super close. With the price you got your SB130 for you probably made the right decision unless you have unlimited money haha
@@dialedmtb All...I notice it for all your trail bike shootout videos. Some clips are worst than others. Minimum needs to at least have the handlebar in picture frame. I would say best to have the upper part of the bike frame in picture frame, no more than 1/3 of screen should be sky. Top 1/3 sky. bottom 1/3 handlebar/stem/frame, middle third trail ahead. This gives a better perspective of what is going on.
It's a Pivot Trail 429 wannabe, lol. Do yourself a favor and just get the Pivot. It's lighter, it pedals as good as a Ripley, and is more capable than this without having to do a Lunch Ride edition.
Are you planning on a downcountry head to head competition in the future? YETI SB120, Tallboy, Spur, pivot trail 429, stumpjumper, ect....

Great review as usual what are the new sram axs like and the stealth brakes looking at buying a sb 140 or stumpjumper? 🤔

How does the Yeti SB120 compare to the Rocky Mountain Element?
They definitely have a different feel. I still wished they would update the SB100 and make it a lighter version of what it used to be. The 120 goes too far into trail bike range.

I am. Im pretty good friends with Dustin B Johnson who is also on here doing youtube vids. Happy biking, man!

SB 120 vs Ripley? Similarities and differences?
So I have actually never rode a Ripley. I would assume they have a new one coming soon though.
I think so too. That’s why the V4S are on closeout sales right now. I think the new one will have the same geo as the Ripley AF. So 1 degree slacker HT call it V5S and slap a $9k price tag on it.
Yeah I have a feeling the frame shape will be updated to look like the HD6 also, I will definitely be super interested in trying one of those!
Not interested in the Optic?
I had the optic in 2021! Great bike but would want something that climbs a little better than that.
Isn’t it more appropriate to compare this to the previous SB130. SB115 was just a jacked SB100, more XC/Trail.

Angle your camera down a few degrees. We don't need to see the sky.
Yeah noticed that when editing. Do you think it needs to go further down on all of the videos or just this one?
