Great video! Nice to see another Boise RUclipsr. Your video was recommended to me on the home page as well.
Thank you, I appreciate it! Cool to see you're in Boise also! Looks like you have created a super successful channel, that is awesome!!
I just rode my custom 140LR and found that it climbs much better than my custom Sb130LR.
Yeah, I could see that for sure! They both climb awesome!
What are your thoughts between this and the Switchblade?
I'm in CT so it's lots of rocks and roots, quick ups and downs.
Me personally, I would go with the SB140 for sure! I do expect a new Pivot Switchblade to come out in 2024 though.. but probably not for a good deal.
A S-Works Stumpy 2023, top notch mounted at 50% sale or a SB120? The stumpy would be the half price of the SB120!! I am coming from a 2017 INTENSE ACV so I think I will not be disappointed both ways..but I could be poorer 😂
Dang that is tough! The Sb120 will climb better than the Stumpy for sure. They have some crazy deals on SB120's right now also though, have you seen any of those? What build of SB120? The 2023 SWORKS comes with XX1 AXS correct? Not XX Transmission?
Overall the stumpy is more well rounded in case you need to ride a little bit of a tougher trail, it won't feel as overwhelmed. But the SB120 will climb faster and still be a blast to descend on!
@@dialedmtb Sworks with Fox 36 factory grip2, float X, Roval carbon wheels, Reverb AXS, X0 AXS at 5500€ (I think it’s a clour of 2022 actually, forgotten somewhere in Specialized workshop) Sb120 T3 8990€ in Italy. I prefer Yeti but I will sweat a little bit more on climbing but because of my heavy wallet on my back 😂
So, what's your preference pls between this and the Smuggler as a single bike, for mostly trails but the occasional big mountain day / week? Geo is very similar between the two... thanks.
For me personally I think this SB140 in either the LR or even the regular version is going to be better in probably every scenario. They climb very similar, but the 140 is better everywhere else. Especially with the 2023 models on 25% off for the old AXS versions!
If you have a choice between a Yeti and a Transition I would go Yeti these days. Just my hunch though.
Yeah for sure, the Yeti's are just a nicer frame with more attention to detail for sure.
@@dialedmtb Thanks again, and thanks also for a great review. OK, so next question pls! What about between this and the SB135? I ask as Bronson v3 rider, so happy with 27.5", even though I ride an XL frame as I'm 6'4". Ride mostly trails, nothing difficult, but just came back from a week in the Alps... :-)
So my personal opinion is the SB140 every time. If you are getting a new bike yearly and are okay with changing things up for a season the SB135 would be a cool option, but most people don't get a new bike every year and I wouldn't want to be stuck with the 135 when I could of had a 140 the whole time. The 140 will climb faster, descend faster more easily, give you more confidence and it is still actually pretty dang playful. The only real benefit I see in the 135 is if you are doing a lot of jumps and it will be probably a little more playful. That is just my personal opinion though.
Hey there. What are your thoughts comparing this with the We Are One Arrival?
Both are awesome bikes, if the Arrival could take a longer dropper post that would probably push it just ahead. If the SB140 was in my Trail Bike Shootout it would have been 1st or 2nd. You can't go wrong with either one.
Hi, how would you compare this with stumpjumper evo?
Quite a bit better of a climber, more playful and almost as plush. The evo would just be a little more plush and a little more traction in steeper and rougher parts but not by a ton more. I wouldn't be surprised if specialized comes out with some new stumpjumpers soon though.
@@dialedmtb nice man.. i'm currently loving my evo but have heard really good reviews of the yeti infinity switch. Still considering to switch frame though 😁
That's good to hear! But yeah Yeti's and the SI are awesome, Yeti just makes super nice products overall. The rumor is a lower shock for the new EVO coming out. Should be super cool!
Is there a huge difference in pedal efficiency between sb140 and sb120? i live in a flatter environment with a lot of punchy climbs and short descents, but also go to the Carolina mountains twice a year. Which would be the better bike? also I am 6'0 230lbs so need I need a stiff frame..thanks keep the good work with those vids!
There was actually a bigger difference in pedal efficiency between the 120 and 140 than what I thought there would be. You will for sure climb faster on the 120, but that is compared to the 140 LR, if you were looking at the standard 140 which is about a pound lighter, it could be a little closer. It's not night and day difference but it is noticeable enough. I am not familiar with that area but if the descents have some rocky or rooty sections and you like to go through those with some speed I personally think overall you will like the 140 better, it still climbs well but is just a lot more confidence inspiring through anything steep and/or rough. If your trials are mostly smooth with only an occasional rough section then the 120 could be the better option. I also think both bikes will feel just fine with your height and weight!
Does your local shop offer demo's? I would definitely demo both if you could then they should take the cost of the demo's off of the purchase of your bike.
No demos near by, that's why i rely on your videos😁. thanks for what you do@@dialedmtb
Haha well I am glad I can help! Which bike are you leaning towards right now?
How does it compare to the sb160?
It is a lot more nimble and poppy. Feels a lot lighter. The 160 is meant for going fast. Yes it is still fun and for its category (enduro) the 160 is still more lively I would say then most of it competitors but it is more of a bike that's purpose is for speed I would say.
