Always happy to hear a critical review on an action figure. I don't own these or think they're completely awful but comparing these to other collector market tmnt figures due to the drastic lack of knee bend and gummy weapons they definitley could be labeled as the worst for sure.
They're obviously not NECA's outstanding version of TMNT, but those are expensive as hell now and they're still one wrong move from breaking off. Because.....NECA. What did you really expect for an $18 price point? For that price, these are fine. It's not like you're gonna go outside on your porch or in the dirt and play with them. They're far better looking than the vintage figures. These look like the TMNT Arcade versions. Stand them on your shelf and these are more than acceptable if you don't wanna break out more than $100 for breakable faulty NECA figures.
5:14 The manhole cover isn't unique to this set, it comes with the Figuarts Leonardo. Granted, it's a slightly different & inferior sculpt, but they stole every single aspect from the Figuarts releases.
I actually got these on a lot cheap a few weeks ago, not realizing how bad they were. I have no idea what they were thinking with the articulated shell and replacing the heads is horrible. Though sadly, not the only Turtle line I have problems with.
So I'm a major TMNT fan/collector since I was 7 when the original cartoon came out. I've had multiple chances to pick a set up for about $5, and passed each time. Yeah, they're all not even worth five dollars. Even though I love getting every iteration of the Turtles, these aren't acceptable even if they were given away. They're an oddity, a sideshow curiosity. An abomination to show spectators on why you should steer clear of these "things."
After seeing aaaaaall the competition for tmnt figures right now, on top of the merciless fan feedback for any bad toy line right now, how were they ok with actually bringing these to market like this?
Completely ignore the price and scale, sure its the worst. Name a other collector series of generally poseable figures that fits with the original line for the price. Have fun with that $150+ turtles neca set and the $500 turtle van, though
1. The price is listed in this video, and the scale is demonstrated. 2. Compared to other toy lines around the same cost, they’re grossly inferior in every way. 3. These do NOT fit the original line. 4. I never paid $500 for a van, and the $150 neca set comes with a lot more stuff and is a higher quality than this joke of a line. I’m sorry that an objective review rustled your jimmies so much.
@@Lio_Convoy 1. Listed or not clearly not taken into consideration. 2. Not talking about another toyline. This is ninja turtles, not power rangers or he man. You want turtles these are the only budget choices with articulation. 3. They do fit in vehicle from the original line, like the original rereleased party wagon at $50 for example... 4. Don't care if you didn't buy it, again using price as an example. If you don't have a lot of disposable income but still want to collect something, this is your only option. Your video is as far from objective as it gets when price and availability are no longer issues.
1. It was taken into consideration. It’s why I compared it to something close to it. 2. The reissue of the Classics TMNT are $35 for a two pack. They have better articulation and are a higher quality than these. Your complaint is null and void, and therefor rejected. 3. You said “original line”. Not “original vehicles”. And even then, a lot of modern things do; that’s not a “win”. 4. If you don’t have a lot of disposable income, and want TMNT figures that aren’t hot garbage, for for the Classics two packs. It’s that simple. Broken down, they’re actually CHEAPER than the BST figures. The review is objective. Everything you’re crying about what taken into account. I just don’t consider it to be an excuse for how bad these are.
@@Lio_Convoy This is the most autistic argument I've seen outside twitter. 1. No you didn't. You claim they are the worst but there is nothing else in their scale and price range to compare them to. They are the wost of nothing. 2. The classics packs are discontinued and are of a completely different 7" scale, they dont work with the original figures or vehicles and will not be continued to include any new figures or vehicles. 3. Doesn't matter, the argument is the same. You want a collectors line at 7" you have to spend $50/figure and $500 per vehicle. This is a $20 figure compatible with the old line. 4. Repeating yourself because you don't have a point. Again classics are discontinued. It's fine if those are the only four figures you want, and you don't mind Shredder being smaller than everyone, it's fine but that's very exclusive. You just want the four turtles and don't care about scale or vehicles you have a point, but if you want a line to collect, foot soldiers to troop build, vehicles, other characters, it's this or the originals. Everything else is going to be marked up significantly in price.
So I have all 4 of these and I have to say it might be a manufacturing issue but the paint is great and for a budget collection they arnt horrible I also have the loyal subjects set from bst axn it is strange to me that those turtles are so fantastic in detail and articulation yet these turtles are not so what went wrong? Same manufacturing different turtles.... Like it feels like these are the Dragonball star to the figuarts dbz you get me? Cool toys yet not cool enough to be collectables
I bought a Donatello this morning. I changed the left hand so it can hold it's bo staff and it keeps falling out. I had to change the hand back to the original hand. Kind of wish I'd left it sealed in the box.
I had wondered about these. Though I'm not really a Turtles guy, but for some reason I just keep getting pulled into wanting a set of really good Turtles, so thanks for the advice @LioConvoy!
If you want good Turtles figures, I’d go with NECA. They’ve done ones for the 1987 cartoon, 1990 movie, and even the original 1984 comics. Though fair warning, if you want the 84 ones, your best option is to buy the bootleg ones, as they’re comparable in quality and are at a fraction of the price, due to the fact that NECA stopped producing them a decade ago.
i'm not saying these aren't TERRIBLE. But they're not even in the top 50 for worst TMNT figures. Just spend 2 minutes on Amazon before you name your videos.
I mean, they did do an original Bebop, Rocksteady, Shredder, Foot Soldier, Krang, and Casey Jones. They forgivably redecoed the Foot Soldier into all of the arcade variants. They unforgivably redecoed the Turtles THREE TIMES into Mirage variants without adjusting the heads or removing the sculpted letters from the belts. On the other hand, they did a halfway decent job retooling toon Shredder and Foot Soldier into 4 distinct Mirage Foot Clan figures. This is a line of cheap, pointless shortcuts but I actually think they're doing enough stuff right that I could see the line improving. They'll soon be doing multiple TMNT retools and redecos. Fred Wolf cartoon looks, with no irises for some reason. Pixelated 8 bit decos that use a surprising amount of paint and actually cover the joints. And then there's Street Style, which looks legitimately decent. These Turtles are decoed exactly like the Fred Wolf toon, wear jackets (distinctly painted for each turtle), tennis shoes, and have unique accessories like Mikey's 3D glasses. These look kind of like a cross between NECA and screwball Playmates variants. I think the new jacketed arms will get better range. In fact, all of the newer figures that aren't actual Ninja Turtles get MUCH better articulation than the TMNT themselves. At the expense of very ugly joint/articulation cuts. But McFarlane does ugly joint cuts all the time too. So I'd say: try the non-TMNT if you like, which are much more original and don't copy Figuarts figures. The endless TMNT repaints don't fix the issues with the Turtles. But the Street Style Turtles coming out soon may be the line's first good turtles.
I considered buying these since I wanted a set of affordable Fred Wolf TMNT figures. Thanks to this review, I'll rule them out unless I find any better recommendations.
They remind those youtube vids where some guy draws a pic for a kid to copy. It's generally recognisable but with a good amount of potato thrown into the mix.
I have Leonardo, it's got loose joints but I have no problem posing him. Repainted his Katanas and soon will repaint the whole body and head a darker green. I don't play around with figure, but have him on my shelf, he looks great, most likely will buy the others. For the price point they're better than paying the ridiculous amount people are asking online. I grew up in the 90's playing the TMNT games on NES and watching the animated series so I like them.
So yeah I'm surprised the word 'bootleg' isn't in the title, no doubt your next video is on "Loyal Subjects" being bootleggers and not the good ones. That last part of the video where Splinter talks to Donatello, I feel that conversation about 'bringing them into this world' should have been had with the Shredder...And possibly Krang. :D
These are absolute trash and shouldn't exist at all. It's even more infuriating that the company has the audacity to name their line with the "best" in articulation, features, etc and these figures break apart at the slightest touch, features the worst paint applications, and not a single figure in their BST AXN lines scale properly. What do I mean by that? Aang from Avatar is the same height as Zuko from the same figure line and it looks insanely goofy. I just want BST AXN to go belly up so they can never peddle this garbage to anyone.
These have decent articulation and are easily modifiable. They’re underrated. There’s plenty of playmates figures that are way worse like the cartoon classics those are way worse!
I bought a Foot Ninja because he looked alright on the shelf. I think it might be the first time I've opened a figure and instantly regretted buying it. The hands felt brittle. One of their feet was just...Refusing to stand. He's also smaller than anything I collect, which was annoying.
Hmm price of the super 7 , movie turtles and the cartoons alternative neca ones vs these budget wise i thing owning Raphael and Donatello AXN are worth it...Then use 100$ for Neca Leo and Mikeo....
