Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started as one of the most successful indy independant comic books of the 1980's and then launched into becoming one of pop cultures most enduring franchises with multiple movies, cartoons and action figure lines, most recently the fantastic animated feature movie Mutant Mayhem. But of the thousands of Ninja Turtle action figures and toys produced, who made the best? That is an answer that we are going to explore as we look at some of the best TMNT figures of all time!

The fact that Mutant Mayhem had a good quality line of figures at theatrical release seemed like a big feat alone.
Agree - Playmates doesn't get nearly enough credit for making good, affordable toys and then actually getting them on store shelves!

Not the biggest fan of MM but I was pleasantly surprised with the Raph figure I picked up at target. Painted his eyes all white and that made it look even better!

The Revoltech Turles from 2012 are my holy grail when it comes to TMNT collecting.

My favorite has been the NECA 80's cartoon line. They have been putting out such fantastic figures. I also very much love the nostalgia of the "Coming Out of Our Shells" concert turtles NECA put out as well.

My favorites are the S.H. Figuarts turtles. They nailed the sculpt of the 90s merchandise design and have great articulation.
They certainly have unequalled articulation!
Loved growing up with the 2012 turtles! I'm 20 now and it's still my fav toyline of all time, kept em all to this day :)

I love the super seven figures and don’t really get much of the hate for them but for me the 2012 ninja turtle figures from playmates based off the Nickelodeon show are the best, the articulation the weapons, the look,love it. Great video

I loved Mutant Mayhem, and the accessibility of the figures probably enchanced that. Ten dollars for a nicely sized figure with a fair amount of details is a steal. That, and you can find them almost anywhere! So much so, that I'm only missing Bebop and Rocksteady.

Just what I asked for. Neca made the best kind. Revoltech TMNT 2012 are my favorite. They are accurate to the show. TMNT Mutant Mayhem was an amazing movie. The figures are great

Your opinion on which turtle design we like best makes sense, but i don't have a top 1. I truly discovered 3 or 4 styles at nearly the same time! Cartoon, Mirage, Archie, and toys
I loved this video. Very well done, and provided wave after wave of nostalgia the whole way through. For me, the original 90's live action foursome are MY turtles. I love the comic versions, and I definitely love the original cartoon series, but those live action films from my childhood were and still are the end-all/be-all. As such, my favorite TMNT figures are, without question, NECA's live action line. So masterfully designed and produced, they look like they literally jumped right off the screen.

For me it’s between the neca mirage turtles and mezco. The neca mirage set that came out last year (I refuse to call them Lawson turtles, it’s cringey) are the style of turtles figures I’ve wanted my entire life. I’m obsessed with Peter Lairds turtles in that style, Peter drew them in that style long before Lawson drew RTNY. So it makes my skin crawl when people call them the Lawson set and give him credit for that style when he was mimicking peters. On the other hand the mezco range of articulation are just top level, never been done before. If mezco made them in the style of those neca mirage turtles with alternate red bandannas and all the same bright green skin tone they’d be unbeatable best figures ever made easily.
I got dogged last year for referring these Mirage Turtles as pre-Lawson - I’m glad there is somebody else seeing what I was seeing!
@@CarbonScoring it’s the truth! There’s a lot of die hard Lawson fans that wouldn’t listen and acting like I was trying to discredit Lawson. He’s a great artist but at the time he said himself he was mimicking their styles at first. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you have to credit Peter for drawing those beautiful box like Turtles in that style first because he did! lol. They’re my favorite design for the turtles and I do love how Lawson drew them as well.
It’s going to have to remain ____ for me right now . I don’t have Mezco turtles so when I do I’ll give you my opinion . You have one of the best channels for figures in RUclips! Great video sir!

Really solid list! LOVE those first NECA Mirage Comic turtles, but for me it'll always be the OG Playmates figures, close second being the NECA 1990s movie turtles.

I think Mezco pulled off what they were attempting to do extremely well. So I think they are in a class of their own as THE set to get overall.
That being said
No one, and I mean no one can outshine NECA for what they've done for the Turtle franchise as a whole. Lets do a head count:
-All 3 90s live action movies in extreme Detail
-Every Character on the O.G first light hearted (pre 90s movie) seasons of the cartoon including the turtles in different appearances.
-A STRONG line for the Mirage series with the Help and blessing of one of the creators
- The extremely Popular last Ronin line(with the help of one the artists on that comic)
-The often forgotten Arcade/videogame line
-And the slow but still ongoing Archie comics line.
Mezco made an Amazing Set, but Neca did Fantasic lines !
Also, the SHFiguarts figures are by far the best when it come to hand candy and fun factor. The heft, the poseabily gives them a "I cant put it down" quality that adds to their charm. A shame Bandai/ Tamashii axed that line after the turtles...

I grew up in the Early 2000s but somehow had the 90s movie(which is still my favorite) so my favorite turtles are the Neca 1990 movie turtles

I grew up with the 1990 movie and 1980 cartoon turtles. It’s neca’s release of those for me. It’s what got me back into collecting as an adult. They’re all fun, lots to choose for everyone.

I was so happy when I saw the thumbnail I’m a huge tmnt and tmnt figure guy and watch your vids all the time! I grew up with the tmnt 2012 playmates toys and it was basically all I spent my childhood money on. I sold a ton a few years back and I regret it 😭
I will cherish my '90s movie Turtles by NECA, but I would love to get the '87 figures, and hoping they put out figures based on the Chris Allan designs. I would also love to get the Super7, SH Figuarts, Revoltect, and the Mezco figures at some point.

The playmate figures for the 3D animated series which I have all four of the turtle but found different weapons they didn't come with them but they all have their ideal weapons they used

I love what Super7 did with the Ultimate line, I admit they got me for more figures than I planned to buy but I’ve liked them all. The classic four brothers look great all together. I’ve got the Playmates inspired heads on mine, but the alt heads are great and remind me of early IDW artwork. Really good figures!
I never got the Batman/TMNT set but I kick myself for that, I remember when they were on clearance and I just didn’t grab them. I think that style suits the turtles nicely, but it sucks that the quality declined so much as the series went on.
I was impressed with the BST AXN ones too. I never got their toon line, but for the price, their IDW line is really cool. I’m not SUPER into the designs, but the figures themselves are really good.
The Mezco set is VERY nice. Almost TOO many accessories haha, it’s overwhelming. I think worth the cost, I have my very minor nitpicks (including your red bandana alt head inclusion) but overall I love the set.
Really good video - I maintain that my favorites are still Revoltech and the early Mirage from NECA, but I might end up changing my tune with some of the newer sets.

This is definitely a toy line that I love almost every single version. Sadly, I can't afford them all.

I really love the super 7 figures. They manage to just be the turtles without being a specific version.
Those are some of my favorites as well - I have collected that complete line!
For me the original playmates 80's figures, the tie in rubber TMNT III rubber figures with the spots on them, the mirage figures, the playmates updated figures and the Mezco Mirage line that recently came out are easily the best TMNT figures.
Hard to go wrong with those choices!

Kind of disappointed that the 2003 series wasn't shown
It was an era I wasn’t into the Turtles - my kids brought me back in 2012 and I try not to talk about figures I don’t have. I recognize it is a gap in my collection
@@CarbonScoring the 2003 series does get overlooked a lot, it's the adaptation that's the closest to the original comics, I do recommend it, especially since it's getting recognition again
I hope Jada Toys will have their own TMNT figures (yes, they did metal figures before) that are somewhat similar with the Mezco ones in terms of colors (I love each turtle having unique coloration) with excellent articulation. And of course, way cheaper.
The beefy neca are my favorite but mickey in the bat cowl is great

I'm not really the biggest turtle fan, the last time I picked up a set was the original playmates when they first came out and me and my brother had to split the 4 (in terms of owning them) when we were kids... but I just had to get those Mutant Mayhem turtles because they're

C. Nicely sculpted for a kid's toy
D. Playable

They both serve different audience I think, but I also love them both!

I have some of 2003, 2012 core gang & in the process of collecting the Mutant Mayhem line!. I'm not getting into the adult collectible teritory for the moment, it's expensive in my country, and Playmates really satisfies my craving because of its affordable price. I really want to collect the Neca OG 87 turtle and the live action, but I miss it when it's hot. I do plan to collect the upcoming MOTU origins-like 87 turtle line, looks promising so far! 🤞
my favorite set has changed over the years. it used to be the playmates animated series classic collection with the goofy pupils, then it was the neca 19990 turtles, then the revoltech turtles. I really think mezco would top them all but I still have them sealed because the resale price has been doing insane things so i kinda wanna just hold em incase they hit 1k+ as I think I'd rather have OG neca turtles or the mondo turtles for that price. current honorable mentions that I own would be the samurai force turtles from Rage/Fury/Furay, and the neca turtles in disguise 4 pack. the turtles im looking for now are the 2024 punk turtles and the pizza club releases.

Might wanna open that set to inspect them and enjoy them because I'm almost positive mezco is making more due to qc replacements and the overall excitement of the figures. They won't make ya rich... so the fun of the figures is worth more than the profit imo

IMO revoltech is the best since 2012 is my favorite and I want to get raph. I would buy the “best” raph too but I’m used to the anime/cartoonic feel of 2012 since I grew up with it
My favorite turtles and the best turtles I have have to be the revoltech turtles, but I might be a bit biased because that’s my favorite cartoon!
Although I did have the Mezco turtles on pre-order and I was really hyped to get them but sadly it got canceled now if they ever go back into stock, I’ll probably end up getting them

Yeah, I’m happy you like them a bit more because in your last turtles video it didn’t sound like you love them but once you play with them a bit more you get used to them and then you start liking them if that makes sense lol
Great Video, very informative! But there is a glaring hole in your line up, where are the SHF Turtles??? IMO, no other line has been able to balance the aesthetics and articulation like SHF did. And for all of us who grew up in the 80s as Turtle fans, we all remembered being bombarded with all different type of marketing materials like the Posters, T-shirts, party decorations, lunch boxes, folders, stickers, erasers, the list goes on and on. Those Turtles in the marketing materials did not look like the cartoons nor the toys, they had their own aesthetics and that is what SHF nailed perfectly.
Sadly, I don’t have those - but reading the comments, clearly I need to find them!

The Mezco turtles are crazy expensive. They look more like $60 each instead of $125 each. I know ppl want these. Make them available for the average person instead of the filthy rich. $500 for a set is just dumb.

For me my first encounter with the turtles was playmates toys in '88, but as far as best figure ever produced I'll say for me it goes
NECA Mirage Turtles > Revoltech 2012 Turtles > NECA Movie Turtles > Super7 Playmates Turtles.
The mezco turtles have the playmates sculpts and colors and accessories.. mirage comics proportions... and texture of like the 90s films... nothing tops the mezco. And for the price. Nothing should lol if you dont own the set you just won't get it.. the easy pop and swap of head and hands.. the smoothness of the articulation.. so happy to own the set. I've been mainly collecting the mezco rumble society stuff so im over the moon that they obtained the tmnt brand .

So how much do you want for them DC Turtles....? LOL I scored a set on ebay cuz I was late to the game, so finding in the wild was out of the question. NECA makes my favorite, both movie line and cartoon line.
I like the ones that all came in at trench coat and hat disguthe articulation on those is excellent but their faces are not the best

Always a little disappointed when reviewers don't go over the fragility of the bst axn loyal subjects figures I have the Leo and he's basically fallen apart when I was posing him and I've had that happen a few times with the line now. Never happens with any other company for me idk I guess I could be rough on them but again never broke a Hasbro or MacFarlane
If that had been my experience, I would have mentioned it, but mine have been fine thus far
@CarbonScoring I'm glad urs are still well! Every product I've received from them has been really weak plastic so I'm not buying but I'm glad yall can enjoy! Just super hard for me to believe people out there aren't also feeling that these are cheaply made

I have. Almost every modern figures version of the turtles there are... I like them all I think all are great but the best for me. Are the sh figuarts ..m sculpture material articulation. All about them is amazing. And the Revoltech I never had those. But look absolutely amazing and about the Mezco siding like those huge. Bubble heads they have....that's why I didn't get it
