@@OhSoddit Our modern leaders are incompetent and trust in fables. Little understanding and ignorant. Love to party hard though and be cool.
Example is the belief that Ukraine was an innocent victim and Russia was going to conquer the world. Craziness and fear.
So, the Western world spread the fear and bankrupted ourselves spending into oblivion and printing money causing inflation. This is after the government-created in a lab COVID war causing massive disruptions and expense. All our own self doing.

It is a bit shocking when I surf auto trader, I see the rock bottom new bikes, then there are the pre regs, then the less than 1 year old ones and think, wow, had I bought that new, I’d have lost a few grand and some on it! I’d hate to think the poor blighters who buy on finance! I was looking at a new Rocket R3, £24k new, too much tbh… saw a year old one with 3k on the clock and was reduced to £15k.
I’m going to hold back now until late Jan, Feb and hit the dealers for a pre reg or nearly new s/h and see what deal I can get. I’m a fair weather rider so a bit of a wuss so my two wheels will go into hibernation soon. Good vid 👍

I've been looking to change my 2023 GoldStar for some time now but visiting various dealer's they want to sell you a brand new bike at inflated prices and give you bugger all in p/ex that is even if they are interested at all. Honda wanted to sell me a 9 grand bike and offered me 2600, my ex BSA dealer wasn't interested and the new one couldn't even bother to reply, the RE dealer wasn't interested in a BSA neither were the Superbike factory. Eventually I did find a dealer, Keith Dixon who was interested in doing a deal and I've now just bought a Kawasaki Eliminator SE 500. Some dealers just sit on their hands and others try much harder to get your business.

thanks for the video and as someone who Hates selling a bike i always set the selling price fair as i can but it will Always be the final price without negotiations .
it makes me sick when people make me some mental offer and they havent even seen the bike in the flesh so to speak but i guess if you are desperate to sell thats another story but for me i would sit on it until the deserving new owner comes along who wants the bike and is willing to pay a realistic price.
Yes as for Dealers they make more on a used bike than a New one

Secondhand Thunderbird prices haven't moved. There is nothing unusual about 5k for an early one. In fact that's a liitle higher than a year or two ago when they were down to just over £4k. Cruiser prices seem stronger than everything else in the market.

In my experience of searching for a good used bike this past month, prices haven't dropped across the board at all.
There's always bikes that are advertised at lower prices than the majority of the same, just like anything.
The particular bikes (two different models) I'm looking for haven't altered in price at all, bar the odd one.
As for encouraging buyers to go in offering less is something not wanted by the very same folk, who want to sell...think about it. Don't presume that a seller WILL sell for the prices you say because you really don't know that as fact.
In around 30 bikes I've owned over as many years, I've sold everyone (bar one) privately & have never taken a reduced offer.
Always stuck to the price I've been asking, it's called having confidence in what you're selling & the right buyer who wants the bike for the right reasons, not just because they want the satisfaction of bidding the seller down.
Sorry, but overall, I don't agree with what you're saying in this video.
    P.s
Please show the £1,000 / £1,200 bike that was previously advertised at £4,000

Same thing happening in Australia , wonder how much impact the cheaper Chinese new bikes are having on those trying to sell Japanese and Euro bikes on the used market ?
It’s amazing how people dismiss used bikes that have over 10000kms , despite showing service history , and barely a scratch .
Have done 15000kms on my 23 model Versys 650 , it still feels like brand new , but can’t sell it for $8500 , despite new ones still getting sold for $13600 ride-away .
Get offered $7000 to $8000 on a trade depending on how expensive the other bike is .
Rode the Versys 200km two days ago ..asked myself what bike is better…under $15000 here in Oz.
    Couldn’t answer that question .

If I walk into a dealer and the bike has over 20K miles, they suck in with a sharp breath preparing you for a low ball number. Maybe the case in the 1980's but today, the engines go forever as long as they are looked after. The market is changing everywhere I feel

Hilarious! Some people are advertising their bikes at great prices, well researched and priced to sell. Your first comment on price is to knock off 10%, maybe more, without even seeing it, call it a bargain and infer that the owner has a financial reason for selling. You won't be buying a bike from me any time soon!

Could the reason be ULEZ and other clean air zones rather than anything to do with Covid or the cost-of-living crisis (which was a result of the invasion of Ukraine, not Covid)? The places where people live who have the most money are precisely these zones, or at least cities with them at the centre, such as Birmingham and Bath, and a bike with pre Euro 3 emissions ratings that you won't be able to take into a major city, if you live near one, will obviously be worth less than one you can. There's also the likelihood that clean-air restrictions will get tighter, so a zone that requires Euro 3 today will require Euro 4 or 5 tomorrow. This is what happened with the London zone; initially it was Euro 4 if I remember correctly; now it's Euro 6 for diesel and Euro 4 for petrol cars and 3 for bikes. On the other hand, BSA prices have dropped like a stone because they're unreliable and poorly supported.

It's a tough time to sell motorcycles what with the economic climate and the fact the weather this year(and last!) hasn't been great and we are approaching winter. I do really feel for people who have to sell to pay bills. Covid created a false valuation of what bikes were worth, and as you say, this is now stabilising. I've never understood the classic bike market and I'm old enough to remember these machines when they were new, some were good in their day but things have moved on and I certainly wouldnt pay the price that is asked for them. This year has seen many bike dealerships close, and I suspect more will close in the coming months
