Kratos laughing and being upbeat and nice is such a great change for his character and great growth across the games. saying he likes Angrboda made me smile
They did amazing job with Brok. During the game, I would keep saying "I love Brok" then he died and I felt that. Sindri story was more for Atreus but they built up Brok and I didn't even notice what they were doing. The last riddle!! They kept hinting at the answer. They didn't need to do that to me
same. i feel like he should have attended for the cinematic, then after sindri disappears, you see atreus leaving or he's not there or something. just didn't feel complete without him being their
I like to imagine that Atreus was there but only in animal form because he wasn’t ready to face sindri or he just hid in the background and it won’t be revealed till the next game
My favorite scene is when he full out whimpers with tears falling when he sees laufeay's painting on the back of the final pictures of prophecy,of how he'll be worshipped the way he never was but always wanted, not out of fear or during war but out of love and respect, it was so simple yet so powerful the impact that scene had as we've grown to love and care for a character like Kratos on his journey from finding his missing brother to his journey for vengeance against the Greek gods, titans and giants all the way to a still bad ass but loving and protective father he became...but deep down he always was that God of war that wanted to be loved by all...and be worshipped
I love how they really make you despise Odin throughout the game, as you watch him hurt those you loved during the course of the story, but you also sympathize with the Asgardians as you see things from there perspective sometimes, but when you finally get to fight Odin, every punch is so satisfying
The funeral of brok, it did makes me cry, because i did understand the pain of sindri, i lost one of my two brothers this year, it is painfully to watch this scene without dropping tears, i love the game playing with my feelings all the time
Don't take offense to this but why do people like you go to the Internet to try to get sympathy from a bunch of strangers? Honestly, I would have loved to see a little post-credit scene of Kratos and Freya rising up as the new gods and rebuilding the world together with Mimir's head making commentary the entire time
Took me a while cause I forgot about it but it finally hit me that it was Mimir's answer to Brok's riddle... I thougt he was refering to Brok's death leaving a hole in Sindri's heart (which may actually be how Mimir figured it out in the first place? not sure if it makes sense)
I knew the answer. I just didn't expect the "hole" to be everything else BUT physical... As in a physical and literal hole. In this case, it meant more and a little bit painful.
47:22 Funny that this is the exact situation Freya was in when she was seething in blind hatred on Kratos for killing his son. Gna's hatred on Freya was a reflection of her own hatred, but chose to let it go before it was too late.
Hearing the light in Kratos voice when he tells Angrboda he likes her. Man that hit, after 5 games of Kratos grunting and talking as if he's tired of you, he finally lets the stress go and enjoys a laugh.
28:42 Just a theory of mine. I think the one who will replace the bird will be the biological children of angrbroda and loki assuming that they follow the norse mythology. We already saw fenrir and jormungander. Both were the child of loki in the norse but in the game they are portrayed to be a "creation" of loki. And in the original norse mythology, Loki's dautgher hel, was thrown in hel by odin and was later known as the ruler of hel. Sorry for my english
@@poemirtiza oh I doubt he’d ever want it, but given his circumstance and possible immortality make him the perfect candidate in my eyes. Plus I doubt anyone besides Kratos and Atreaus will respect him as a head on their hip
Kratos kneeling in front of Brok asking for hos blessing of the spear. Kratos calling him one of his true friends at the funeral…man what an amazing game this was. So much emotional damage. I feel Sindri will go down a dark path in the sequel(if there is one) I hope we get a quest to find the missing pieces of Brok soul, not to revive him, but to make him whole so he can rest in peace and Sindri find closure.
Yeah that caught me off guard, it surprised me how considerate and kind kratos can be for broks case. But it also made sense that he would rather have broks blessing as a legendary blacksmith than some random mermaid. Either way, kratos being kind to his friends is a joy to see. And very emotional
We can only pray he doesn’t follow Freya’s old path. . . Though from what we saw in his eyes…he may still mourn yet next we meet him. . . If we meet him. . .

This game's story is the best in the business. So much good writing, the riddle getting solved at the end by the smartest man when he experiences it himself, damn man. I've followed GoW from beginning and such a mega and heart touching end. This game for me is more than GoTY cuz I've experienced it from my childhood to my adulthood. Thank you to every person who was part of making of GoW ragnarok and previous games.
i just watched the playthrough of both games and have no interest in actually playing them, i enjoyed the original trilogy but have no interest in that type of game anymore. Elden Ring was GOTY and deservedly so, its a better game than GOWR. GOWR being more than game of the year is fitting though an ill give it that sentiment. But Elden Ring was a better fit for actual game of the year.
@@doggodoggo3000 Elden Ring will be forgotten in 2 years. GOWR has created an alternate version of classic myths of two peoples. When some kid gets marked wrong on his university lit exam for saying that the Frost Axe, Gungnir, Mjolnir but not the spear made from Draupnir, are the weapons that return to the wielder, he will petition that he/she/they are correct, and in fact, they will be.
@@chiggsytube People still play and discuss from soft games from over a decade ago. In 2 years Elden Ring is still going to have an active pvp scene and continue to be discussed as well. And as far as your imaginary college scenario, its just absurd, Ancient myth has been pulled from in countless IPs, thsts nothing new. And your proposed question sounds more like it belongs on a reddit thread, not a college exam. The idea is a caricature. You must be a literal child to think something like that would be on a college literature exam.
Sindri has gone through two stages of grief so far. Denial - Retrieving Brok's soul, or parts of it, after he died and reviving him. Anger - Hating Kratos and Atreus for inadvertently causing Brok's death. If there is going to be DLC for this game that continues the story, I could see Sindri being a sort of pseudo villain character. Where he bargains with someone or something that he has no idea what he's dealing with. After attempting, and failing, to kill Kratos to fulfill the bargain, he goes into depression, wanting nothing other than to bring his brother back. Kratos could finally say what he wanted to say to him at Brok's funeral, causing Sindri to remember Brok's final words. In the end, Sindri finally accepts that Brok is dead and decides to leave Midgard, thanking Kratos for helping him realize how wrong he was. Afterwards, it could be found out then he went to find Atreus to help him search for the giants.
VGS, I really enjoy your channel. There is a calmness about it that I really like. You allow the clips to play and then you speak afterwards adding good input. You also don’t use clickbait and take forever to get to the point. The time stamps are super clutch as well. Thanks for the great insight
You do a great job. I really liked your video regarding the potential of GOW exploring the Chinese mythology. It was 3 minutes, played the clip of the director, and provided video context. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. So many other RUclipsrs just ramble for like 10 mins or will provide little to no evidence for their claims. Keep up the great work and cya for the next GOW 🤙🏼
Apparently that painting At the end of the credit scene right after atreis leaves on to go on his own adventure as a depiction of kratos becoming the new alfather of of the 9 realms The reason why he almost cried apparently it's because he realized that Faye knew the entire time Because she painted that
Sad ending for Sindri and Brok.. Initially, I thought Sindri was just angry/disappointed with Atreus. After seeing the ending, he is also annoyed with Kratos
I really hoped in the next god of war game mimir is still with kratos because it would make sense mimir can help kratos what gods are in the place they’re going since mimir knows gods outside of norse
I had the chat with Birgir after the game ended. Freya still tells him that there's someone/somewhere that she thinks would be perfect for him and that they should talk later. I haven't gone back to see Chaurli since but I'm sure Birgir will be there.
16:40, it makes sense, when you were playing with artreus and you went with angrboda to her gradmother to save a wolf, artreus put a soul of some giant into a dead snake and later in muspheleim angrboda said she saw that snake geting much bigger and very very fast, I think that snake was the world serpant
There actually are two more pretty large things that can be done that I didn't see mentioned anywhere - you can go and fight/kill the Valkyrie King (who is arguably an even more difficult opponent than the Valkyrie Queen is) and then, if you've collected all the Ravens, you can return to the tree where they all gather and fight the Raven Keeper. As far as I know it doesn't change anything or have any other effects, just was saying that there still are a couple pretty big events left.
Well Kratos has come a long way. From a murderous thug speaking in All CAPS WITH TRIPLE (!!!) To a future father-in-law material with smilings and please-n-thank-you. It really warms your heart.
Thanks As a PC Gamer the only way I get to enjoy games like this is through Let's plays and videos like this. Your description gave context and meaning to each scene was great. It was as if you were telling a story and not just uploading random out-of-context clips.
They could try DLCs for this game which could involve more Norse lore and mythology but as far as a sequel goes, I can only see Kratos going to Egypt due to Atreus being in serious danger or for some other unexplained reason
There is a final beserker that can't be fought until after the destruction of Asgard, which also leaves the Beserker King as post game content. Really odd how the single best item in the game is something you get once the game is over and there is virtually no use for it anymore
I used it to cheese GNA. If you use it right by the cliff/ladder and climb back down before the swords reach her, you can get free hits as she just stands there. Just wait for it to recharge and keep shooter her with it until she dies. Cheap as fuck, and takes a while, but very effective.
Dude I’ve been watching your channel for awhile! I freaking love your takes on VG’s like especially lore and gameplay with GOW! 🤲🏽 brotha you are a treasure . Thank you good sir
I just tried the Loki mmomentos myself and noticed that in the Lore tab, "Loki & Friends" was added which wasnt there before! The lore ends right before he turns the Hel-wolf into Fenrir. Just note that this is probably all there is to it, not some hint towards his new journey (the lore that was added had already happened during the story).
Just finished this last week and realized Brok's funeral is the "true ending" and achieved it eithout even realizing it. Thanks! GREAT VIDEO!!! 👍👍👍 Santa Monica you've made an amazing MASTERPIECE, ONCE AGAIN!!
The way Sindri looks at Kratos makes me feel so sad. He wants to say something but he knows that Kratos is far to wise and strong for him to argue with or even fight lmao. I don’t think Sindri will become a villain because he’s smart enough to know that Kratos cannot be heated by him or anything he could pull out of his bag
The mementos thing in the beginning is just the codex entries Atreus wrote about the people he met when you get to play as him, after taking it when you open the codex menu there's a section that says "Atreus's friends and foes" or something like that, it's not new mementos from his newly started journey at the end of the game or anything like that
In a way sindri not even spitefully looking at kratos when he comes up to push the boat together with him, shows that even so he is bitter he knows his brother would have wanted kratos there with him.
The fact that mimir answered the quiz that he kept failing at the very end is an impressive detail. The question was something along "what's gets bigger the more you take from it"
A brilliant game, just finished it last night! As far as what the next entry might look like, let me just first say that developers can say whatever they want - if someone on their team comes up with a compelling story, they may very well stay in the Norse realm but I doubt it. Now, for other lands, Kratos would need a reason to leave Midgard while his son is alive and traveling the realms. But should something happen, say, Atreus dies then maybe Kratos would want to try and leave that realm behind. Hard to say really. The story would have to be solid and compelling for Kratos to be willing to leave. One thing that might be very interesting is that Kratos might be forced to leave - instead of him willingly leaving Midgard, maybe the Gods of other lands will come to him. For example, the Egyptian or Mayan pantheon might hear of this God who slew his pantheon, and then brought down another, they might fear that this "god killer' will stop at nothing to bring down every pantheon without knowing what truly happened. And maybe that's how Atreus / Freya / Mimir get involved or hurt so now Kratos has to take action, AGAIN.
Tyr is like the ultimate hippie. tai chi in the park, surviving on nothing but plant piss and the energy of the universe. just find him chilling in literally every hiking trail in the game.
I have only played a little bit of god of war 3. But i know the whole lore almost just by watching all these youtube videos about God of War. This would make amazing movie. This is like watching a long tv-series in clip form and on random order.
This video was very much needed and I thank you for making it. While I absolutely love this game I was so tired upon beating it and honestly a video like this that details the events of the post game was very much needed
I used the BErserker Kings rune power to cheese GNA. If you use it right by the cliff/ladder and climb back down before the swords reach her, you can get free hits as she just stands there. Something told me to leave Broks funeral as the very last thing I do and I’m pretty happy I did. I’m not usually satisfied with endings but DAMN that was one of the best endings to a game I’ve ever played. You felt every emotion out there and when Mimir figured out the riddle I fucking broke. It was like losing one of my brothers in real life. What an amazing game and I can’t wait for new game plus
11:08 Freya said that its an honor to be among a very select few to visit Jotunheim, but I thought she had already been there!!!! Mimir said in one of his stories that Oden convinced her (Freya) to marry that one giant in exchange for Thor's stolen hammer. She even snuck Thor in (who murdered all the giants at the wedding when he got his hammer back.).
@@joshmartin716 Sure, makes sense even in god of war lore. I remember cronos eating rock thinking it was baby zeus in god of war 2. But Mimir clearly said in game that freya WAS with thor and had to cast a spell to permanently close Jutunheim to the aesirs when she witnessed the later massacre the giants. In fact, according to the game, that is why oden took her valkirie wings and exiled her to midgard. Do you want a video of mimir's tale of that story?
Something I find a bit scary to think about is that if there was ever a dlc or spin off game about atreus, what if sindri's grief and blame on atreus for everything that has happened leads to him actually trying to hunt down atreus? Most likely it would never happen and sindri might have gone somewhere else to either build a new home or to just be alone, but think about it, it could happen
Im sure there will be a sequal. And it will be very interesting to see how what is left of the norse pantheon and mythology interacts with whatever pantheon is next for the series. Will be an interesting twist since the greek mythos didn't play a part in this duoplogy on the ground of it not existing anymore. Im hoping there will be interaction between them.
The norse saga is over. Both directors have stated it. I hope we are not done with Kratos but I get the feeling we are. Future games will potentially star Atreus unless they create a whole new ip.
14:46 Is that the first time in any God of War game Kratos actually laughs (or as close to a laugh as we're going to get)?! caught me off guard because I don't think I've every heard it.
I think we will return to this universe but it will be a continuation of Loki as the main protagonist--as Kratos will step aside into a more minor role -helping rebuild the realms and living the rest of his days in peace, deservedly so, with maybe an occasional visit to know what he's been up to. At least that's what makes the most sense to me..
34:43 that was a reference to poor ole Sisyphus. The guy who had to roll a border up a hill just for it to fall back down. Kratos casually reminding us no one's a bigger ass than the Olympians
Great video! I can't be bothered putting in the time to go explore and find all of this by myself (pokemon violet came out a week after this game came out). Love your effort and also you taking the time to narrate it for us. Thanks!!
Oh cool, the memento thing shows that they will see each other again, and it wont take many years - Atreus is still dropping by the old home, probably to kick his feet up and visit his dad, all that's really changed is that now he don't have to always have his dad there to defend him. It's kinda just like moving out of home... which is still hard for any parent to deal with.

Let me add on to that. The answer was fittingly crass.
_What_ was the answer? A hole. _A-hole._
i thought it was a shame that atreus wasn't at brok's funeral.
same. i feel like he should have attended for the cinematic, then after sindri disappears, you see atreus leaving or he's not there or something. just didn't feel complete without him being their
I like to imagine that Atreus was there but only in animal form because he wasn’t ready to face sindri or he just hid in the background and it won’t be revealed till the next game
Peace and good will to yall wish you guys happiness and good things yet to come
I think its more than just that he was worshipped in the painting, its that he was shown as a Figure of peace and unity instead of war.
I love how they really make you despise Odin throughout the game, as you watch him hurt those you loved during the course of the story, but you also sympathize with the Asgardians as you see things from there perspective sometimes, but when you finally get to fight Odin, every punch is so satisfying
Was expecting Odin to transform into some big badass boss monster after the first round. He never did.
Yup... I wish we unleashed a whole lot of the old Kratos on that old bastard....
Like Poseidon or Helios felt it....
Like what kind of response do you actually expect from a bunch of people that don't even know you? Do you just not have anyone to talk to? What gets bigger the more you take away from it? When sindri walked away, and Mimir said a hole chills went down my damn spine. Poor sindri dude.
Took me a while cause I forgot about it but it finally hit me that it was Mimir's answer to Brok's riddle... I thougt he was refering to Brok's death leaving a hole in Sindri's heart (which may actually be how Mimir figured it out in the first place? not sure if it makes sense)
@@alby_alby mimir meant both.
I knew the answer. I just didn't expect the "hole" to be everything else BUT physical... As in a physical and literal hole. In this case, it meant more and a little bit painful.

2) I was rolling with this comment
post-game depression hittin' hard with this one ngl
Going to svarthelfheim to complete it but without brok and how he showed us to open that gate made me so sad
47:22 Funny that this is the exact situation Freya was in when she was seething in blind hatred on Kratos for killing his son. Gna's hatred on Freya was a reflection of her own hatred, but chose to let it go before it was too late.
Little easter egg, without sindri.. the house is dirty with ygdrassil leaves
Hearing the light in Kratos voice when he tells Angrboda he likes her. Man that hit, after 5 games of Kratos grunting and talking as if he's tired of you, he finally lets the stress go and enjoys a laugh.
Can't wait for the better future of all the realms
To see Sindri and other lose ends...
Sindri becomes the all father in the next game
28:42 Just a theory of mine.
I think the one who will replace the bird will be the biological children of angrbroda and loki assuming that they follow the norse mythology. We already saw fenrir and jormungander. Both were the child of loki in the norse but in the game they are portrayed to be a "creation" of loki. And in the original norse mythology, Loki's dautgher hel, was thrown in hel by odin and was later known as the ruler of hel.
Sorry for my english
I’d personally let Mimir be the replacement, as he’s just a head he’s likely more physically fit for the posturing than most
or maybe Atreus will put some Giant's soul into some corpse idk
Giant soul into Odins crows maybe, Huginn or other one
@@thepriorstone4064 what makes you think Mimir would ever want that?
@@poemirtiza oh I doubt he’d ever want it, but given his circumstance and possible immortality make him the perfect candidate in my eyes. Plus I doubt anyone besides Kratos and Atreaus will respect him as a head on their hip
Kratos kneeling in front of Brok asking for hos blessing of the spear. Kratos calling him one of his true friends at the funeral…man what an amazing game this was. So much emotional damage. I feel Sindri will go down a dark path in the sequel(if there is one) I hope we get a quest to find the missing pieces of Brok soul, not to revive him, but to make him whole so he can rest in peace and Sindri find closure.
one of the best moments of the game brok blessing
Yeah that caught me off guard, it surprised me how considerate and kind kratos can be for broks case. But it also made sense that he would rather have broks blessing as a legendary blacksmith than some random mermaid.
Either way, kratos being kind to his friends is a joy to see. And very emotional
I loved Brok and what *he* did to Brok was uncalled for. I hope Sindri can find peace as well as make up with Atreus someday
Agreed. If they make him a villain, that would be so disappointing.
We can only pray he doesn’t follow Freya’s old path. . . Though from what we saw in his eyes…he may still mourn yet next we meet him. . . If we meet him. . .
@@DadrianGayton Personally I believe that he doesn't truly blame Kratos or Atreus, but he must blame someone at first to bear the burden of his grief and give himself time to process
@@ItchRevenge92 Yep, he's hurt and wants to blame someone but deep down he's actually blaming himself for not being able to protect Brok for the first and second time around no less.
I feel like Brok should take over for the Hel Bird that wanted to retire since he lived and died with no soul it would have fit. Imagine a giant sized Brok looking down talking shit to all the freshly dead.
14:48 this line right here about discipline got a good laugh out of me. Kratos's reaction was a cherry on top.
Brok will never be forgotten rip to the goat blacksmith🫡
58:38 Raeb the bard is a cameo by GoW's maestro music director Bear McReary. He's listed accordingly in the credits and IMDB.
Raeb… Bear…
My brain just short circuited
Om my God I just made the connection
Sounds great I would wanna play that. Wished they killed Sindri instead of Brok. Brok was definitely my favourite.
@@owynpham1478 If sindri had died. It wouldn't be a kick to the dick ya. And Brok has sense that sindri kinda lacks.
But why would Sindri help search for the giants? That’s not his business, nor is it on top of his priorities.

VGS, I really enjoy your channel. There is a calmness about it that I really like. You allow the clips to play and then you speak afterwards adding good input. You also don’t use clickbait and take forever to get to the point. The time stamps are super clutch as well.
Thanks for the great insight
Dude I appreciate that. I want to make something I would enjoy and that means WATCHING the scenes I'm talking about!
I was surprised when freya didn’t ask about the mural I’d have loved to explore more of jountenheim as kratos
He's really just mad at himself. He gave freely.
I wouldn't say annoyed. He's broken and lost. Lost to grief and anger. Having lost my own brother, that kind of pain consumes you.
I really hoped in the next god of war game mimir is still with kratos because it would make sense mimir can help kratos what gods are in the place they’re going since mimir knows gods outside of norse
I wish the description of mimir ability is called "the blindness man alive"
I had the chat with Birgir after the game ended. Freya still tells him that there's someone/somewhere that she thinks would be perfect for him and that they should talk later. I haven't gone back to see Chaurli since but I'm sure Birgir will be there.
Me too
16:40, it makes sense, when you were playing with artreus and you went with angrboda to her gradmother to save a wolf, artreus put a soul of some giant into a dead snake and later in muspheleim angrboda said she saw that snake geting much bigger and very very fast, I think that snake was the world serpant
Tyr: "I know u from somewhere. I hope it comes back to me"
Kratos: "You should hope that it doesn't happen." 😂
In 34:40 , Kratos talks about Sisyphus from the Myth Of Sisyphus. Felt that it was a good easter egg where Kratos mentions his homeland once again
The valkyrie king? Where?

There is a final beserker that can't be fought until after the destruction of Asgard, which also leaves the Beserker King as post game content. Really odd how the single best item in the game is something you get once the game is over and there is virtually no use for it anymore

Kratos didn't mean Thrud when he talked about the guy pushing the boulder, he was talking about Sisyphus.
Yeah obviously
34:52 Kratos mentions Sisyphus and you say "Now there he's talking about Thrud"
A hole will always be one of the most heartbreaking lines in a video game ever
The fact that mimir answered the quiz that he kept failing at the very end is an impressive detail.

This is created beautifully. Did justice to the story and the game. Loved it
God of war has become the absolute best transformation arc I’ve ever seen

Something told me to leave Broks funeral as the very last thing I do and I’m pretty happy I did. I’m not usually satisfied with endings but DAMN that was one of the best endings to a game I’ve ever played. You felt every emotion out there and when Mimir figured out the riddle I fucking broke. Nah it was a Sony fight game with bunch of characters lol
Angrboda talking about discipline - just a pure mead for Cratos' ears 😊
11:08 Freya said that its an honor to be among a very select few to visit Jotunheim, but I thought she had already been there!!!! Mimir said in one of his stories that Oden convinced her (Freya) to marry that one giant in exchange for Thor's stolen hammer. She even snuck Thor in (who murdered all the giants at the wedding when he got his hammer back.).
In the old poetic Edda poem Freya never went, the giants eyesight was terrible, so they sent thor in a dress as Freya.
The hurdy-gurdy playing at the funeral hits different, perfect choice in musical instrument.
Be careful brotha' yer cover in bifrost
Im sure there will be a sequal. And it will be very interesting to see how what is left of the norse pantheon and mythology interacts with whatever pantheon is next for the series. Will be an interesting twist since the greek mythos didn't play a part in this duoplogy on the ground of it not existing anymore. Im hoping there will be interaction between them.
The norse saga is over. Both directors have stated it. I hope we are not done with Kratos but I get the feeling we are. Future games will potentially star Atreus unless they create a whole new ip.
