The reason why Atreus went after that elf that cut off its arm was because they were using it to power the light bridge. I'm surprised you missed it, but they mention early on how the elves wear the light on them to power the bridges, back when you had to knock over the statues to power them. That's why the elf cut its arm to escape, so they couldn't progress further and why Atreus tried to grab them
You deserve literally so many more subscribers, listening to your videos is getting me through my job while keeping my sanity for the past week and the length and quality of your videos are great. You'll blow up with these videos, I know it
Atreus chased the Elf because the bridge would give out beneath them without the crystal that Elf carried, which is why Tyr was dragging it and why the bridge did eventually give out
a fun tidbit about 'Chauli', when Santa Monica first revealed character concepts for Atreus, people jokingly called him Charlie, so the turtle house scene from the last game was their way to have a bit of fun with it.
My favoutire game ever, just finished it for the second time, definitely top 5 games of all time, and best ending to a game, im suprised thus game was made by humans
I can see why people love this game. I played a good chunk of it. Got the spear and everything. But it felt like work to me getting through the game. Just didn’t click to me for some reason. Really wanted to love this game but just couldn’t get into it like I had hoped I would.
As someone who watches the game movies (videos that splice the cutscenes and relevant gameplay parts together) 90% of the time rather than playing the game myself, I really appreciate your content for its story and character analysis. I also watched your TLOU ones! The current number of views on these are atrocious and I can't wait for this video (and the rest) to blow up in the future when people discover your channel and binge everything in succession 🤓
I love your videos. As much as I love single player adventure type games my adhd brain skins over things so I always looking up a overview after. So glad these videos exist!
Wow, I just watched this one last night, didn't even realize this was you. Another great vid, and the long length of it got me through a long project I was working on.
@ 58:24 Atreus chases after the elf because they were using it to light the bridge. It was a light elf, and they use the light for power. That's why Tyr was dragging him, to use its light to power the bridge. Thats also why the bridge collapsed when the elf jumped off.
That actor playing the role of Odin seemed familiar to me as well while watching this, so I looked up the actor whose name I believe is Richard Schiff. That name might not ring a bell, but his appearance likely could as the man has been in many, many movies of which he often played a supporting role audiences might overlook that producers/directors tend to keep in mind. But in this game the performances across the board and also the fucking camera work is just unreal, with so much nuance to go along with it's magnificent overall scope so the end result is something gripping if not downright hypnotic. Great vid, love how you do this type of content
something you missed in the first dream....there were 3 logs in the way Faye moves the one on the right Kratos the one on the left then she asks him to move the middle one. So she clearly can move one. One point though....at this time (before the first game) Kratos shouldnt know Faye is a giant right? so why isnt he surprised she can easily lift a log?
@@ImGardenGnomebtw the issue with the compass is it doesnt point to the destination it points to the next turn or door basically. So picture it like a GPS in your car but it only gives you an arrow instead of saying "turn in 500 yards" Thats why sometimes it jumps around, you just passed the invisible checkmark and your compass starts aiming to the next one.
A lot of the smooth brain criticisms I’ve seen of GoW are people saying souls like games and JRPGs are just better. I have no clue where this is coming from like there’s da a sub community of people that seem to just not like it since it’s a narrative game that’s not from Japan
A video game should always be gameplay driven though lol I mean u can still have a narrative, a very good one at that, but it still has to be driven by gameplay otherwise what is the point of it being a video game? This game has too much narrative and unskippable cut scenes, n not nearly enough gameplay .. rhe only fun to be had is the boss fights and there is literally nothing else in the game that is fun to PLAY through, that is not ok, and it’s damn sure not a masterpiece

What a cracking review! Keep up this quality of work and your channel will surely catch on. (stupid Algorithm that forces me to actively find good quality, but small creators)
I think the slow pacing is why it hits its emotional beats so well. It is literally about trying to spend as much time with your loved ones before the end. The old games rushed a lot because they focused almost completely on the next set piece. Ragnarok chooses to focus on the ride and those riding with you.
I felt this game was kinda easy as I played on the hardest difficulty but with my fists only. Obviously not all the time but at times where I was forced to use a weapon I did (like heimdall. I did love the game though so 8/10-9/10
Absolutely masterpiece level. The only big issue is that its two games smushed into one. So as a single game it feels a little bloated, but some aspects of the story feel a bit less fleshed out than I'd like. I enjoyed seeing the Asgard side of things more than I thought I would and kind of wish they delved into Thor a little more. Maybe even make him a playable character. The other nitpick is that I hated playing as Atreus. I just felt too weak and Ironwood dragged sooooo much. None of this holds it back from being an easy 10/10. These are just my personal nitpicks. Combat is top tier and characters and their arcs and VAs are next level. It also looks stunning while running at 70-90 fps on PS5. I wish more games were made of this quality.

Is Ragnarök a "masterpiece"? The short answer is YES. ABSOLUTELY YES. This is how a sequel should be made. It takes everything good about the first game and just elevates it all to an 11.
I wouldn't even say what they did was making it an 11, more about understanding if you go from rock to rap you have to adjust your tuning. And usually you get crap like the dark knight rises that was just out of tune with the rest of the album.

Interesting, I platinumed sekiro and elden ring and the combat in GoW kind of feels right up that alley, in fact while I love the variety of builds in a game such as elden ring GoWs more focused arsenal adds more depth to the minute by minute combat. I would put GoW ragnarok on the same level as sekiro and elden ring, GoW having the best story, elden having the best world and sekiro having the best combat. Something to notice after Atreaus' rampage is that Kratos is thinking like a general.
I knew who fenrir was in norse mythology, so the wolf dying did little for me, kinda expecting he would comeback somehow
