Been researching this exhaust for about a month or so to install in my 23 brz. And according to AWE, this exhaust doesn't have a muffler as stated in the video. The muffler, looking like modules, is meant to cancel out the drones and not muffle the sound.
When someone finally has one in stock and available for immediate delivery, I'll then get one. I just can't wrap my arms on paying for something now then having to wait 45 days to get it.
@@corrigananderson I had someone offer me $36K for my BRZ in the middle of the grocery store parking lot....and he was really serious. Crazy world we live in.
Genuine question: can someone please explain to me how it's possible for an exhaust hardware change to "add" crackles without an engine tuning change? Wouldn't there need to be some change in the fuelling in order for there to be crackles?
Pretty sure the pops are already there stock, but the stock muffler & resonator does a good job of hiding it. I can hear them a bit with my stock GR86.
Crackles and pops are mainly tuning related however if you remove a lot of the restrictions in the exhaust via resonators, mufflers, and or catalytic converters, you’ll tend to get a bit more pops than stock because of more unspent fuel going through the system and reaching the back where it pops. I remember when I was changing the front pipe and Overpipe, I had a huge exhaust leak between these two pipes and without a particular pop tune, I was getting huge pops. Also worth noting the pipe I was putting on had a high flow cat which is a less restrictive catalytic converter.
You would be correct, its the result of bad tuning, but obnoxious people invaded the car scene and now you can make your neighbors think they're being shot at with a stock car
my 2022 BRZ is 100% stock but on downshifts still has little baby pops. straight from factory these cars come with baby pops and crackles when downshifting between 2k-3k rpm
@ftspeed I’m seeing that this exhaust fits the previous generation (2013-2020), but have yet to see any videos or images of this - everywhere only shows the 22+. Can you confirm that fit and function, this exhaust is good for a 2020 BRZ?
Thank you for providing the db measurements. Can you please describe how you setup the test, in particular how far the mic was from the end of the tailpipes?
Greatly appreciate the dB readings. Can we get the same review for the Remark Elite Spec Catback as well? I would like to be able to compare the two and having a FTspeed review of both would help a lot
Sweet! I've been searching for something that is like the old Tanabe Tuner Medalion or Apexi WS2 oem-plus style exhausts from the 90's/00's that add just a bit of volume while staying daily quiet and refined. Hoping one of these will do that
@@KevinVo A little constructive “criticism” to make the db reading part better: add a rev cam (a camera that shows your revs) right under the decibel reading meter so we know exactly what RPM’s the car is at what noise level.
I thought it’s the material/size of the mufflers along with the addition of resonators that allows for reduction of drone not necessarily the wall thickness of the exhaust tips or am I wrong?
You're correct the wall thickness of the tips has little to nothing to do with the drone. Kevin mentioned AWE's 180 degree technology which these use in their mufflers to cancel out any drone.
That technically is not a rear muffler, more of a straight thru resonator like the 1st one. Those are there to help trap some of the exhaust on idle to keep it low and smooth, but as you drive, its supposed to act like a straight pipe. This is why na motors will always have a raspy nasty exhaust
I would just love to see how it sounds on the old brz/86. Because ik it’s has the whole no drone thing, but I need to know how it sounds on the old gen before buying it.
