    I know it would be an extra little thing to do. But i would love to see a clip of the db meter done for stock just before the clip for the tested exhast. sometimes its hard to just tell the real difference when your watching the videos. hearing that baseline of stock first and then hearing the difference it makes would be such a useful thing when trying to decide.

    Been researching this exhaust for about a month or so to install in my 23 brz. And according to AWE, this exhaust doesn't have a muffler as stated in the video. The muffler, looking like modules, is meant to cancel out the drones and not muffle the sound.

    Genuine question: can someone please explain to me how it's possible for an exhaust hardware change to "add" crackles without an engine tuning change? Wouldn't there need to be some change in the fuelling in order for there to be crackles?

    • @christacy1
      @christacy1 2 года назад +6

      Pretty sure the pops are already there stock, but the stock muffler & resonator does a good job of hiding it. I can hear them a bit with my stock GR86.

    • @YSoAggressive
      @YSoAggressive 2 года назад +2

      Crackles and pops are mainly tuning related however if you remove a lot of the restrictions in the exhaust via resonators, mufflers, and or catalytic converters, you’ll tend to get a bit more pops than stock because of more unspent fuel going through the system and reaching the back where it pops. I remember when I was changing the front pipe and Overpipe, I had a huge exhaust leak between these two pipes and without a particular pop tune, I was getting huge pops. Also worth noting the pipe I was putting on had a high flow cat which is a less restrictive catalytic converter.

    • @jordankelly4684
      @jordankelly4684 2 года назад +2

      You would be correct, its the result of bad tuning, but obnoxious people invaded the car scene and now you can make your neighbors think they're being shot at with a stock car

      my 2022 BRZ is 100% stock but on downshifts still has little baby pops. straight from factory these cars come with baby pops and crackles when downshifting between 2k-3k rpm

    • @CarsOverPeople
      @CarsOverPeople 2 года назад

      @@KevinVo
      A little constructive “criticism” to make the db reading part better: add a rev cam (a camera that shows your revs) right under the decibel reading meter so we know exactly what RPM’s the car is at what noise level.

  • @YSoAggressive
    @YSoAggressive 2 года назад +3

    I thought it’s the material/size of the mufflers along with the addition of resonators that allows for reduction of drone not necessarily the wall thickness of the exhaust tips or am I wrong?

    • @FTspeed
      @FTspeed  2 года назад +1

      You're correct the wall thickness of the tips has little to nothing to do with the drone. Kevin mentioned AWE's 180 degree technology which these use in their mufflers to cancel out any drone.

    • @ACommenterOnYouTube
      @ACommenterOnYouTube 2 года назад

      That technically is not a rear muffler, more of a straight thru resonator like the 1st one.
      Those are there to help trap some of the exhaust on idle to keep it low and smooth, but as you drive, its supposed to act like a straight pipe.
      This is why na motors will always have a raspy nasty exhaust

    The audacity of this dogwater company is hilarious. For those that don't know, Kevin Vo was fired from FT Speed on 12/13/2022 in a disgusting way. Buy your parts from somewhere else than FTSpeed or Subispeed folks; support somewhere that supports its employees and treats them with respect.
    An 8-year, passionate, face-of-your company employee deserves the respect and courtesy of at least a conversation being had about any conflicts of interest or things that would necessitate termination of employment if continued.
    To outright fire him out of the blue without giving him a heads up or notice that something he is doing/saying will not fly and deny him the ability to make an informed decision on what his options are going forward reflects poorly upon FTSpeed/Subispeed.
    In a game where you just play the middleman, I will gladly take my business elsewhere to some other middleman that isn't FTSpeed/SubiSpeed; there are a plethora of other options out there that can access more or less the same catalogue of items.
    FTSpeed/Subiespeed did Kevin Vo dirty, when Kevin Vo was a SIGNIFICANT part of why the company is as successful as it is today - hopefully yall's marketshare takes a deserving hit and Kevin lands somewhere that will treat him better and be worthy of the good-business his passion and efforts bring forth.
    If you enjoy content like this, look up and support Kevin Vo's personal youtube channel, where I'm sure he'll be continuing to put out excellent, valueable content without getting screwed by SubiSpeed.

    Any Insight from those that have an axleback or are considering one? I was hoping the awe would be more tame than the remark axleback, but based off the sound tests they’re both loud. Thinking I might just save the $1000 and get the axleback. Wouldn’t mind a little drone at the expense of some sweet backfire and pops on downshifts.

      @KevinVo 2 года назад +1

      Axlebacks are a quick fix if you just want some more sound. However, if you plan on changing out any other portions of the exhaust in the future like a header or front pipe, that will compound into a very loud exhaust. The AWE Touring Edition is actually relatively tame when you're just cruising around town.

      @@KevinVo thanks Kev! I don’t plan on doing anything else, mostly going for sound and keeping the rest stock since I live in SoCal. Even that’s pushing it😂. But you know how it is, plans change. Think I’m going to get the remark for the time being. Thanks for your help

      If you're a fan of the high pitched note with no rasp then for sure go for the remark axleback, you cant beat what it offers for the price. The AWE Touring is more for the subie rumble and "prominence" of the pops and bangs on downshifts. I've had the remark axleback for a week and I love it for the high pitch clean sound, it screams at high rpms almost like a 4 cylinder motorcycle (which I love) and has not overly obnoxious pops and crackles on decel and cruising. The drone is bearable but for me personally, I experienced headaches for the first few days since it was my first time dealing with such thing but it's slowly worn off and I'm used to it now. I plan on upgrading other portions of the exhaust in the future so I don't know what path I'll take with the axleback but for now, as stock, it's potentially perfect for daily if you just want the high pitch sound and can bear the drone.
