  • How to: Replacing the Rear Sway Bar Link / Stabilizer Bar on a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser. This procedure applies to other years, and same body model as well (Dodge Neon, Chrysler Neon
    )
    We have not found any video on this project, so we decided to do one while replacing the links on our PT Cruiser.
    It is a very straight-forward project. But as we advised on the video, be careful with the sway bar tension. The driver side had more tension than the passenger side, so we advise some caution when removing the links. We do not want anyone to get hurt.
    More PT Cruiser repairs and projects to come...

    Probably should be using blue thread lock since the red will be impossible to remove.

      Hello. I really never heard anyone say they could not remove a bolt with red threadlocker. And I would prefer the bolt stay in place than randomly wiggle out. But thanks for the input, and thank you for watching! -Rjeff H2H

    It is very rare you will be able to get the bolts off that easily.

      I got lucky with the links. Watch our other video for the rear shocks, that one gave me issues and I even injured myself. Lol 😵. So you take what you can. Thank you for watching and subscribing! -Rjeff H2H

    Why is mine in the middle underneath? Mine is a 2003 and there is no stabilizer bar attached behind the tire.

      Hello. If you are talking about the stabilizer bars in the center, that is the bell crank system aka Watts Link. Would it be possible that the previous owner removed the rear stabilier bars? Hope that information helps. Thank you for watching - Rjeff H2H

    Huh, my 2009 PT does not have a rear sway bar...so, no sway bar links to replace. Must be the dreaded Watts Link is my issue!

      Oh Man, that's going to be a pain. It is doable though, just be careful. I personally don't like going under the car, and that is the reason I haven't changed mine. Good luck man, and be safe!! Thank you for watching! - Rjeff H2H

      I just did my watts link this evening. Not that hard if you have an impact wrench to get it started. Do drop the spare tire though before torquing down the pass side link.
