How is the i8 holding up now? Do you feel more confident with this compressor than the OEM one from BMW?
Hello. It still works. As mentioned on the other video, the AC compressor I bought has a 1 year warranty, so I do have peace of mind that I am covered for a whole year. I made a long explanation on your other comment on my analysis of the AC compressor self destructing. Hope my answer helps. And the main reason I went with the Aliexpress Compressor is the price. At a fraction of the cost, for me, it is worth the risk. Thank you for watching! - Rjeff H2H
How is the compressor going now? Do you have peace of mind that it is more reliable and working better?
Hello. It only has been about 9 months, and it is still working fine. When I got the car, the compressor was already dead, so I honestly cannot compare them. But what I can say is the AC compressors implode when the refrigerant load is below the optimal running load. Just as a reference, if you run a fuel pump without fuel, or gas, it runs too fast because there is no load, so it has.a tendency of self destructing. Similar to this AC compressor. Because it is electric, when there is little or no load, it tends to self destruct because it runs on an electric motor. Compared to a belt-driven compressor, without load, it can only go as fast as what the belt is driving it, it will not revolve to a point that it will self destruct. When the AC compressor is below the optimal load, it makes a weird metal sound, indicating that refrigerant is low. So if you hear that, add refrigerant to prevent it from self destructing. I will make a video of this in the future. Sorry my comment when very long. Hope my explanation is ok with you. Thank you for watching! - Rjeff H2H
@How2Helen I see that makes sense. So the load provides resistance so the electric motor doesn't over run and implode?
@@CarlosWillis Yes, that seems to be the case. Surprisingly, I found out that even Tesla has the same issue with the AC compressors. The big difference is that the Tesla Compressors do not cost an arm and a leg. Maybe because it is a BMW i8, they had to jack up the price on the AC compressor.
@@How2Helen sorry for the ton of messages, I'm an engineer/programmer. I'm trying to figure out if I can maybe modify a more reliable compressor. I'm thinking variable speed compressor of some type that can adapt based on load, so in the instance of lower resistance. I've looked online and see the i8 compressor is a scroll type fixed rate. I'm going to try and simulate conditions using a variable rate and see what I get.
@@CarlosWillis No need to apologize! It's a "help me, help you" situation, Lol! We have almost the same profession, but you may be more advanced than I am. I have no issues sharing what I know, because if you figure it out, we can save the i8 from its own disaster. Anyway, what I figured is the AC compressor is either on or off, no variable. If the refrigerant pressure is below a certain level, it will not turn on. And once it reaches that level, it turns on at max speed. So when we were loading refrigerant, as soon as we hit min level, it started running, and was making an awful metal sound. I actually thought that the new AC compressor was bad. But when it was about 65-70% of required amount, the compressor quieted down. So the load produces resistance, which the compressor needs to work on the correct/optimum speed. If you do figure out how to program the compressor to variable speed, please share. That is the key for the compressor from self destructing. Also, if ever you find how to turn off the engine on-off without going to sport mode (but with hold battery charge enabled), please let me know. Thanks and keep me posted! - Rjeff H2H
What was the reason to change the coils ? Some symptoms?
Had a check engine code for a misfire. It could have just been bad gas, but back then I was worried, and naive. And since it was almost 100k miles, I decided to just change them for maintenance intervals. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching! - Rjeff H2H

Mine started a few weeks ago. Do you think i will be fine till i can repair it in a month?
Hello. Yes you will be fine. That is the advantage of an oem fan module. When they fail, they fail in the “max fan” position to prevent the car from overheating. Aftermarket ones, they just shut off. I would advise to get oem module again for peace of mind. Hope that helps! -Rjeff H2H

It appears that like my 2008, the bottom bolt has a tab so you don't have to put a wrench on it. I did my 2008 with just a 15mm socket.
Thank you for making.
Couldn't you just put a new pigtail on it?
Hello. Yes you can. This was just the easiest and most simple solution. I just didn’t want to drag the short repair and make it more complicated for others, that would they might just give up on trying. But yes, if you have the pigtail, and don’t mind doing a few more steps, that is another solution for that issue. Thank you for sharing! -Rjeff H2H
Thank you. Very well done.

Smart. We need front blades that fit " J Hook" arms, and a "B-Type" rear blade (no such detail on other videos I found). Pad the windshield against the arm snapping back (smart precaution not mentioned on other videos). Very helpful video.

My Allen screws to remove the motor are completely corroded/rusted Tried Allen wrench and it doesn’t get loose. I hit the top with a hammer to loosen, tried wd40 Not budging whatsoever And I’m doing lefty loosey just to make sure I’m not tightening Any suggestions?
Hello. I would try a metal wire brush that you can connect to a drill and try to clean as much rust as you can. Then maybe soak it up with wd40 or liquid penetrator for a longer period of time. Maybe it just needs time to penetrate. Also, any chance you have a friend who has an impact tool? That might be able to help. Last, but please take caution, heating up the bolt. Either with a torch, or with those heating elements to expand the bolt to create some space between the threads. Hope one of those suggestions helps. Please keep us posted. Thanks!-Rjeff H2H

Going to try this on my 2004 octavia. Not worth the cost of getting done properly. Im hoping to take my time and get the spacing nice and consistent, hey it might even look like its a feature if i do a good job? 🤞 Update: worked really well!
Hello! Curious, where are you located? I am in the Northeast of USA and we didn't have an Octavia here. I had to Google it. Lol. We did the same thing with our Cayman, and it turned out ok. It has been 3 years already and we barely notice it now. Check out our video on that if you want to see a completed headliner. And you are right, if you get them straighter, and more spacing consistent, they do look factory, like an old school sofa. Lol. Thank again for watching! _ Rjeff H2H
@How2Helen I'm just south of London, UK. Loads of Skoda's over here. Basically a cross between a VW and an Audi and for a good price. Mine is a VW engine and loads of the other parts have Audi logos on them. Although with emission zones the old diesels are becoming difficult to keep :( Indeed looks like an old sofa haha

Great video, only thing i would advise is to put the tools you may need at the start/end of the video
Hello. Unfortunately, I could not put it at the beginning since I really do not know which tools I will be using as most of the videos, I am doing them the first time. Which is why I announce them or show an image on the screen on the time I use them. But I will try to maybe list them out at the end when the repairs or project is completed. Thanks for the advice! -Rjeff H2H

@How2Helen can you please do more Nissan armada videos! Such as why when backing up car doesn't beep anymore? 😒
@@eyesarethewindowtoyoursoul168 Hello. Check the fuses first for the sensor. We do have a parking sensor replace for an Infiniti EX35, which is very similar to the Armada. You can use that video to test first if your sensors are working properly. And if not, they have the same process on replacing the sensor as Infiniti and Nissan are the same company. We are trying to get an Infiniti QX56 next year, which is the same as the Armada, and we will make more repair videos as a lot of our viewers seems to be Nissan Armada aficionados. So stay tuned for more Armada/QX56 videos in the future. Thank you for watching! - Rjeff H2H
Do you have a video about replacing the connector, or if its even possible at home? Took it to a mechanic who claimed to have fixed it. Asked for a replacement of the connector, he tightened the bolt and did not replace.
Hello. My apologies, I do not have a video replacing the connector. Mine was ok so we did not replace it at that time. But you should be able to order them from online dealers. They can even check with your vin to make sure you get the correct part. Hope that information helps. Thank you for asking- Rjeff H2H

Thanks for the video. Tried to put in passenger side bulb three different times and never figured it out on my own. Moving that reservoir was the key.

I took my radiator cap off and started the vehicle. The fluid was full to the top but there was no flow and the water was still. Does this mean I have a bad water pump?
Hello. If the engine is cold, there will be no movement as the thermostat would be closed. You need to wait for the engine to be in running temperature (190-205), then you will see some swirling movement. If you do not see any swirling movement in the radiator, and you start to overheat, check your fans are kicking in first. If they are kicking in, and you are still having overheating issues, check thermostat, then waterpump. Also, what I found is the radiator can have some blockage that can cause overheating. If you start replacing parts, I would recommend thermostat, then radiator first as they are the cheapest and easiest to replace. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching - Rjeff H2H
I’m pretty sure now that I spilled some hydraulic fluid on the alternator when topping up the tank…
Oh no! But what hydraulic fluid were you topping off at the back? Spray a lot of WD40 and wipe off as much as you can. I hope you don’t have to replace the alternator because of that. Good luck! Hoping for the best!-Rjeff H2H
Thank you for this. Hopefully it will work for me. I have an old H3 2006 and the cable snapped awhile ago, but I was able to pull the cable from the inside down by the break peddle. Now that stopped working so hopefully this does

Twice I was honked at rudely when I took a right turn and the signal wasn't working, so I figured it was time to watch a video! Needed a refresher as the bulbs don't burn out often enough that I remember how-to (fortunately). I already had a Sylvania bulb from last time's 2-pack purchse so that is what I used, too. I love my 2008 H3 and thanks to these helpful instructions no one gets mad at us anymore 🙂
Hello. As a fellow motorist, I would like to thank you for being considerate. Changing the bulbs to make sure other motorist know when you are changing lanes helps avoid accidents. As a fellow H3 owner, thank you for addressing the situation immediately, so that we do not fall in the stereotype that H3 owners don't care about other motorist, don't use signal lights, and just change lanes when they want. It's a stigma that we share with Jeep and BMW owners. Anyway, I am glad our video was able to help (refresh your mind) with the bulb replacement. We hope our other videos help you out as well. Keep on truckin'! Lol! Thank you for watching! - Rjeff H2H
