Awesome beetle. Lots of detail and the tires look great. The CVD's are cool. Overall the cassis looks real strong and for an older rc it rocks. Great video.
Great video. Recently dug my one of these out of the loft, original 87 version. Had to fix the steering. (Have snapped 2 of those front wheel parts that attach to the servo arm.) Still runs great with original speed controller also. Had a n issue with the differential wearing away the rear wheel attachments when I first bought it. Went back to the shop as a kid and the guy there gave me a new set for free and instructed me to take the whole dif apart and pack it with grease. Did this and never had an issue. Still runs well today 33 years later. I have not reopened it at all. Like I said I just fixed the steering and me and my kids are having a blast. With all this lock in stuff I've dug my old school collection out the loft. Also have a hornet, clod buster, Porsche 911 and mini cooper. Great hobby.
I always wanted to have one of these 80s tamiya beetles in the late 90s. Never found one. And now I found these on amazon!!! Would you recommend this one vs. the trail version 4WD ?
I got the grasshopper kit for Christmas,...... 540 motor and 18t gear, .....bearings,.....grasshopper 2 rear tires,.....4000 ma battery,.....quad head light kit. 😍😍😍😍
I use Shoe Goo. Department stores, hardware stores. Get some drywall tape, the stuff with the little squares and put that down first. Then a thin layer of shoe goo. Basicially it's the same as doing fiberglass
nice video, just a quick question, what colour Red did you use and how did you get that nice shine? would be great to see what you have done with your diff 😊
Jason Labross Thank you! The color is Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red. I used the rattle can. The only thing I did was sanded out some of the parting lines from the molds, then primer painted it. I promise I will have the diff video soon!

Robert Ward Nice!! My mate had a Porsche 959 Rally RC car. So sweet. Was tiny. Maybe a 1:12?
We also had a Bigwig. I think we broke the chassis every single time we took it out. 😂😐
a friend of mine is going to let me have a play with his 1987 one .. looking forward to playing with a piece of history
I’m about to build my first monster beetle, have a few upgrades for better stability and rigidity
