I did not know it should start faster. This rig is my first mechanical engine. I've been reading the comments and believe i have ideas where she may be getting air. This will be addressed in a future video.
Thank you for watching. FSC
check fuel supply pump
Does the truck have that hard rubber suspension? Or did Peterbilt replace it with an air ride? Did they finally upgrade those suspensions in the 80s? It's reportedly why COEs became unpopular in North America.
@@wanderingfido "Air Leaf" was an option in the 80s. This truck has that.
@@fsctrucking Nice. Are you considering a syncromesh gearbox? No more double clutching?
@@wanderingfido i haven't "double clutched" in 22 years. I "float" them.
No chrome. No shine. Just raw power. I’m very happy.
Love the memories. Thank you
Boy does that cab over and the 13 speed and the 3406 bring back memories I’m now 73 years young and I spent 40 years in a truck and a large park was in your rigs good video’s
The first trucking job I had was 1987 I drove a freight liner cab over with a 3406b and a 13 speed . 4:11 rears 400hp. In 1987 the only that would touch it was 425 cat . To this day that was a pulling like hell truck . With 4:11 rear at 2100 rpm was about 80mph. But it would go up hill 80,000 lbs. all most as fast ....
I'm on the hunt for an older semi now that I got my CDL-A. Looking at an 82 359 with a 3406 and 13 speed. I absolutely love the way Orville sounds and that's just one of the reasons I may go this route. It would cost me more money to upgrade my hotshot truck and trailer and then still be limited to hauling maybe 20K on a 40' trailer. An older semi and flatbed is cheaper than the hotshot equipment! It may not ride like my 23 year old F350 but this is about making $$$.
Great video and of course great Truck, I have one 1984 362 Peterbilt, now is in restoration. Keep making trucking videos. Greetings from Costa Rica.
Not defending the Bison truck for not moving over but it happened to me a lot times after moving over to the left, the merging driver sped up and started passing me on the right. As we can see in your video the Bison driver took one of the next exits, and if you had started passing him on the right, he would have had hard times to move back into the right lane and to take the exit.
However, I'm not saying you would have done that, but I had that happening to me a lot of times.
Anyhow, nice rig. Keep on trucking!
AWSOME JOB ON THE ENGINE REBUILD THATS A PROPPER TRUCK NO ELECTRONIC BULLSHIT WHEN THINGS WERE BUILT TO LAST.
I had an 87' 362 with a 3406B @350hp- and an 83' 362 with a 855 BC 2 @ 400 hp- Thinkin' about another soon.....Couple things about the 362- Clutch cable Breakage- Pay attentiuon when raising/lowering cab-Make sure it comes down easy and straight. Other than that,Typical maintenance-And she'll Live with you for an etenity you treat her right.
Is 350hp easy for get an order? I thought average truck on this decade is around 435-535, So is the 350hp still recommended for buy?
Driver etiquette died years ago....
They are simply " Steering Wheel Holders " now no respect for the real pro's on the road. I always give them the room they need, I even watch at intersections and if I see a truck going to turn my way I stop short so he/she has room to swing her.
I love the truck videos. Please stop with the music. We want to hear that bad ass cat engine. The music is good but we want to hear the truck. That’s my 2 cents anyway.
That's "your opinion" as to the music choice and not liking it.. But for some of us, we appreciate the added extra effort for him editing in some different varieties of music to really make his channel come alive.. Keep up the great work! I definitely don't want to ONLY hear a engine running the whole damn time...
@@subconsciousnobility2993 You are definitely not in the sort of crowd that watches these videos (c. 95%?). Your opinion is bizarre. The majority of people come for the sound.
@@askhowiknow5527 The only thing bizarre is your out your ass statistics lol.. Again speak for yourself and enjoy this guy's channel "as is" or simply make your own channel and grow subscribers and magnify your own talents and abilities if you have any.. And you can revv engines all day or turn wrenches with no music and show us how it's done if you can. But some peoples talents is only being a critic...
My 1995 International 9400 Eagle wheeler dump at work has a Cat 3406B under the hood hooked to an Eaton Fuller 8LL transmission, she pulls like a champ. Being a dump truck is her 3rd life, she hauled live floor trailer for a long time then hauled lowboy and logs in the Maine woods...only thing wrong with the truck is it needs a new hood.
Gotta keep her going!
Love the cab over videos, great channel and info entertainment!
Every time I see one passing by I'll give them a thumbs up. Glad to see the classics still moving. Keep her going. 👍
We have a similar problem! I drive a rv and if I am in a city during rush hour I don't use the right lane so that the locals can't on and off without me being ng in the way. A lot of them still want to pass me on the left and try to make their exit any way!
I'm 20 miles from Milwaukee watch your videos all the time keep it up.. I love old steel like that cab over
I don't know what it is about a cab over truck but I love them dam trucks to death.
It's great to see the old cab over on the road back in 1975 the first truck that I learned to drive was Freightliner cabover
Love that Pete !!!
I know this is a 3 year old video, but I do have to say, this is a beautiful truck. I know people that trash talk cabover trucks, but my grandfather drove a really nice K100, and a surprisingly nice International, both trucks rode nice and were comfortable, and neither was any louder than their conventional counterparts. The maneuverability of cabover trucks is bonkers for the amount of cab you can get, despite the doghouse being in the way.
Still...Cabovers rule! So the new engine is working out pretty well? How many miles were on it before you had to replace it? A Cat engine is my favorite! 🥰 I have a series 60 in my Walmart IH 9670...it seems to be a good engine, so far. Is the Pete a 10 or 13 speed? It’s getting really rough out there on the road...stay safe and healthy. Are you able to get decent loads still?
She is an '84 with a 13 speed. We are doing fairly well with loads. We stay away from broakers when we can. She has just over 1 million on the truck. The original engine went till 800k. Was rebuilt 20 years ago with non Caterpillar parts. That failed with low mileage but 20 years sitting. This engine has about 12k on her since I built it. I used all genuine Caterpillar parts.
FSC Speed Shop 😎 I really like a Cat sound...there’s nothing much like it. I’ve never had a bad Cat engine and they seem to do quite well for us. Hope that you continue to do well on loads.🤩 Bet you get quite a few looks and comments on the rig. I love seeing them out on the road.Make the trip and enjoy the ride! 😎
@@fsctrucking i would like to work with you under your authority etc. i can get a dually with a cummins diesel and hook it to a 40 ft trailer and haul loads 24,000 pounds and less. i have a few drivers so that wouldnt be a issue.
@@sffee8151 I don't have my own authority. I run under another carrier's flag. Unfortunately they don't do "hot shot".
@@fsctrucking you guys should get into hotshot. Duallys are able to pull 34,000 easily these days. Love your channel though. Dies ypur company sign people with older rigs still? I can put my 2002 petetbilt and century class on in January
I used to leave one field nozzle hanging out of the tank and go around and do the other side until one day at 3:00 in the morning it fell out. Now I put a strap on the step.
Would like to pull tanker with Jet A so you can feel the power of the CAT.
I love this channel. Just wish he would put a little shine on the truck and at least paint the rear wheels
🙄🤦♀️😭 here in Italy the diesel fuel is 1,38 euros for 1 liter ( 0,264 us gallon)
Sweet Content brother, keep it coming with the Kitty🔥🦾
The new engine sounds great
Good video bud. Keep them coming
Love that ole gurl, real steel, bless
Fuel leaking off on it ! It schould start a lot quicker than that. Pump accelerator once. 3406b dosen't have to wind on it like that
I agree something isn't right. Either fuel or compression. 3406 should give a grunt and be running.

Hey man I loved this video ...I’m runnin a 3406c mechanical in my 96 Pete and it makes me happy to see em out there, some people on RUclips are destroying cabovers for attention meanwhile u are runnin em makin money letting em do what they’re meant to do...props to u man great job

Good job 808 truck and driver, like to be up there with y’all truckers. I down here in south East Tennessee.
I love the diesel clatter at 14:00 !! Sounds amazing, probably the best video on RUclips!
Cat is suppose to start faster than that it's suppose to explode into life
I agree, I test drove a 97 freightliner coe today, started up cold in one turn, no smoke, pulled really strong at just 1/2 throttle.
Your right most truck drivers today are as bad as the 4 wheeler's they are all about themselves.
Someone's cat needs to be tuned
Enjoy the video. Makes me want to go out and buy one.
With you on the stupid driver's there driver. Love your cabover man sick af brother.
I SPENT 50 YEARS ON THE ROAD, STARTED IN 1965, BACK WHEN THERE WERE REAL TRUCKERS OUT THERE, NON OF THIS TRUCKER SCHOOL GRADS, THEY DONT KNOW SHIT, GLAD IM RETIRED, BEST OF LUCK OUT THERE, STAY SAFE, YOU HAVE ONE CHARLIE HORSE, ON THE SIDE.
New engine,s need time for running good and smootlhy ... after a few 1000 miles this engine runs better...
I wasn’t trying to be rude with my previous message. I just love the truck especially cabovers. I’m actually fixing up the exact same model to pull my race car around. It’s been a project to say the least.
cool intro
Yeah pretty hard on the starter dude I don't know your name is haven't heard it in the videos that is one cool dang tractor truck on man truck on
A mechanical cat will start easier if you crack the throttle open a little bit !
Are you saying step on the pedal a bit before cranking?
I am trying to buy my first mechanical Cat3406 425 HP. It has an air starter and I would love to start it with no problems when I pick it up. It’s a 1993 Volvo GMC Western Star with less than 200,000. This will be my first cab over. I’m a milk tanker yanker.
Thanks for the Ride Along
More to come. Half of the next video is already filmed.
You have a beautiful truck my dad is a truck driver i know how hard you guys work he usually does 12 plus hour days keep up the good work man
I was in Kewaskum Wi today, 2-27-24 there is a 1987Freightliner Cabover for sale. New trans, clutch, and some other stuff. Place called TOP FUEL GARAGE. $25,000. A little high but with the repairs maybe not. Also a 3406B. Frame is in great shape. If I wasn’t 6’4 tall…I’d be VERY interested. I’d buy it anyway, but can’t as a full time rig.
FSC Trucking, why don`t you opt for LED headlights for Orwell (Peterbilt 362)? They are a little bit brighter than halogen headlights
Pete's got the best looking cabover's. Anyone remember when tombstone pizza ran them in the mid eighties? They had some of the best looking trucks on the road.
Nah Kenworth cabovers
No FL fla
When I saw those green fuel nozzles I nearly shouted noooooooo! Here in the UK green nozzles are for unleaded petrol! Great vid. Duly subscribed to your channel, thanks.
What color is diesel just out of curiosity
Why don't you bring Orwell down to Springfield antique truck show in June Springfield Illinois Springfield fairgrounds I'll be the guy let me in the gate
Greetings from Australia
I run road trains over here good to see old school
Steve This is a youtub site Has KW cabover with 3408 Cat and at the end has 35000 ton train "Dinsdale transport"
Oh shit is that the Terminator Song...before you added all the New lights and Bumper. Tham it still looked Nice Sir.
I had dual one hundreds and I put 191 gallons in one time.
I bet you were staring at that fuel gauge and praying for many miles.
@@fsctrucking I was sweating for sure. When I got done fueling it didn't want to start right away. Foolish to get that low.
I saw you in another of your videos where the right lane was closed ahead and you stayed in the right lane to get ahead of the trucks in the left lane that were following the signs . They gave you some flack and you insulted the guy back .What was the differents?
Cool videos, the first one that showed up was the spilt paint. Clicked on your page, scrolled down, Cars????,,, What took him into trucking?.?.?..... SUBSCRIBED :)
Sweet ol' 362! You run OTR or Regional with her?
Mostly Wisconsin to East Coast
I knew this was a old video by the fuel price but hes from Canada he doesn't know any different that's a basin
Thats just a bloody great start music is very powerful as your big boy black smoke , and engine startup with a good close look at your dash , cool
Sorry about your friend!!! If those around him were wearing their masks...they wouldn’t have passed it to him! Nice truck, I had an 84’ dollar truck...way back when!
Back then the Government Experts who killed the economy said not to... Now that its calm again, now they want masks?
It’s easy to drive courteously and still be on time come on now
Nice one ! What’s the song in the start ?
Bison , Canadas Swift lol
Peterbilt 362?.
Billstoltz. Nice kittey nice kitty good looking Pete sounds great!!!! Keep her rolling !
Did I miss some videos, have you had a new engine fitted ?
I just bought a 1984 359 drove it home from Tennessee to Ohio and had my mechanic checit out the big Cam Cummins had a bad block and the rod bearings Bad and had some metal flakes in the oil filter. So now I’m putting a 3406B in it can’t wait till it’s done
my RUclips account I see many many and mini tractors upside down over turn on fire can also cars deliberately running in front of them to cause an accident
Truckers are the heart of the country
FSC
I think I past you today. It was a truck just like yours.
Probably was me.
No disrespect to you or the other drivers but my dad always told me that is a semi driver does not move over for other semi drivers they think that they're the only ones that are supposed to be out there
Early 80's I loved my COE Peterbuilt. Was a work horse for me hauling hay and cattle.
One of the best videos on utube
Great videos. Orwell could use some good back-up lights maybe?🇨🇦
I thought 3406 didn’t have a engine brake ??
Some 3406A (3406) did and others did not. 3406B ,C, And E did.
It looks like you ate a quart of berries.
Who was doing the camera work ?
Unrelated question but whats your oil pressure on start and when warmed up at idle? Thanks
The video that etched this channels’ mark. Gorgeous truck, love watching the content brother.
It looks like an old Werner truck
Nope..KEENE
Nice 👌!!!!!
I really like your truck. Never drove a Pete, I used to drive a Freightshaker COE, back in the earl 90’s, then moved on into conventionals.
Before this i only had conventionals. But I did drive a condo COE Freightliner back when I was at trucking school 23 years ago.
Straight up working truck, hell yeh
What’s the name of the music at the beginning? It sounds familiar but I can’t think of what it is
I use epidemic sound. The song is not regular music you hear on radio as they have pricey copyrights.
@@fsctrucking sounds like music from an 80s movie.
He forgot to put DEF in.
Hahaha
The hell you say!!!🤔
Lucky driver !!
New to the channel. Just subbed love the content
Serious question, which content do you prefer? I have mostly automotive. The truck content came from carshows being stopped in the pandemic. What do you like the best.
Like it all but seeing the cabover still getting it done is awesome. I've been driving since I was 18 and I'm 44 now. I had a 84 like yours it was a glider had a 73 a model di cat in it. Just love old iron and I live in Central pa so we'll be on the look out for ya.
Cool vid dude living my dream 💯❤️
3406 Cat 550 horse 13? What a sweet lady.
I think I heard in another video the HP is in the 400-425 range. 550 out of a B model Cat, you would want someone who knows how to watch and listen to that engine closely because they were not originally designed for that kind of power.
@@tuba7084 Your probably right I don't know that's why asked I did not state fact but I have been told by a owner operator that a fellow In Florida had his cat built make that power. I don't know if it's fact? I can and do watch videos and am able to understand even with my limited education you see I am only a general practice MD.
@@eddiemartinez6 the 3406E is capable of safely making that kind of power. The E model is an electronic controlled engine. It has all of the features built in to protect itself from a catastrophic meltdown if something goes wrong. The A, B,C models are fully mechanical so when they are making huge power, the operator needs to monitor the engine closely so they don’t melt the pistons with high exhaust gas temps or cook the engine by high coolant temps. The mechanical engines use a mechanical rod from the accelerator pedal to the fuel injection pump on the side of the engine.
I first found your channel because of the "other job". Might have to check out your outfit when I finally get around to buying my own Peterbilt
With flatbed experience you should do that.
@@fsctrucking it'll still be a while but I'll be in touch.
Worst thing about that cab over was the seat belt straps where bolted right to the floor of the cab. So you didn't where the seat belt because a big bump it would seem as if it would cut you in half. keep on truck-n
Odd way to build something. This one the belt works with the seat thankfully
@@fsctrucking Hi ya. Awesome videos - great idea to diversify in such unprecedented times.... I, myself, think your truck videos are really well put together mate.
Question: now forgive me if this question seems "stupid" to most out there but i don't know the answer & I'm way down under in N.Z. .... But is it compulsory to wear a seat belt in big rigs in the U.S.A?? & if so do most drivers wear them?? It didn't use to be compulsory here ( sometime ago now tho ) but it is now for sure.
Cheers & keep up the awesome vid's!!!
Nice rig

A little tip when you're using that ultra-low sulfur fuel put a little 30 weight non detergent motor oil in with it for that old motor needs to lubrication
Buck Yingling synthetic two stroke oil is better yet
I know a couple of heavy diesel mechanics that swear by adding 4oz of 2 stroke oil (Stihl, I think) for every 50 gallons of fuel. They use it in their own service trucks and personal vehicles...
Sounds like it could use a touch of timing advanced to it
