I’m wanting to make the trip from Santa Rosa to Iquitos in February or March 2022. I just left Leticia last month (November). I never checked while I was there if the slow boats are still allowing people on them. I was told land borders are closed. I want to fly from bogota to leticia. Take boat from Santa Rosa to Iquitos then fly from Iquitos back to bogota. Not sure if I can or who to contact. And great video. Thank you for sharing.

In wich time of the year did you made the trip, wich one is better, not too hot, rainy, bugy and humid?

We made the trip at the end of October and I felt that it was the best time to go! We had lots of sunshine (rain as well of course but not in big amounts) and the Rainforest was perfect to do trails, we saw a lot of wildlife too! ☺️
The flooded season goes from December to April, it’s a little colder during that time. The trails can get very wet and partly flooded, so it’s not as good to explore but on the other side it’s better to see some wildlife from the water side (access to some waters and lakes that wouldn’t be possible in dry season)
The dry season from June to December is warmer, still gets rain but trails to explore hiking is way more accessible and therefore also wildlife in the rainforest.
So it really kinda depends on what experience you want 😄 but we were really happy with October/November, had lots of sun and saw a looot of wildlife (monkeys, birds, snakes, caymans, sloths etc.)

    Iquitos... It's pronounced: "Eketos"... When there's an U after a Q the U's mute

Great video and very informative. We hope to do this journey sometime in the future. Good value for money but tough travelling. You guys did well. Seems that everyone just leaves their stuff under the hammocks. Is security an issue? Thanks for posting this. 👍

Heyy! Thank you so much, it makes me so happy to hear that you liked the video and that I could give some useful information ☺️ I remember it was so hard to find information on how to organize this trip so I thought it might help if I summarize everything in a video and blog post. 🥳
The experience was amazing and for sure one of the most unique trips I’ve ever made! I can really recommend it, it’s so beautiful. And very special to see the Amazon Rainforest! But you have to be prepared for living only with the necessary basics for 8 days (cheap food, no clean bathrooms, no shower, sleeping in hammocks) 😄
I honestly didn’t feel insecure or really afraid about my belongings during the travels, but other people have told us before that robberies have happened. That’s why you definitely shouldn’t leave your valuables like wallet, passport and phone out of sight. I was carrying a small bum bag with me when I left my hammock to have my valuables close to me. ☺️
