really bothers me that people want live performances to sound like the cd, / mp3. its not realistic, how you feel when you perform is real. this is an amazing projection of how Adam felt at the time, which is to me an amazing performance
I wouldn't say exactly but close to would be nice. Which this performance is. It's probably the best live performance of this song I've seen. I saw them multiple times during this album cycle and there was a lot of bad vocal shows. To me it's more a sing of lazyness when a singer doesn't take the steps to make sure his instrument is firing on all cylinders.
It doesn't sound bad at all. In fact this is the best live performance of "Make Damn Sure" I have found on RUclips yet. Out of all TBS songs I know this one probably pushes Adam's vocal range the hardest. It's not easy to sing that high on the chorus, so cut him some slack!
Matt Fazzi replaced Fred a couple years ago... now TBS is back to their original lineup which means John Nolan took over Fred's/Fazzi's role... even though it was originally John's in the first place :)
@atticusglenn he's gotten so better recently. i saw him in november 2011 and during the summer of 2011 and he was SO much better at screaming, it was surprising.
@scava21 Yes, I do know the dvd live performance. It sounds good, but it's also post-edited to make everything (not just the vocals) sound better. They basically do this with ANY live performance that goes on sale.
sure, first step, take the word autumn out of your bands name! WAY over used. There was a study done and every single town in america bigger than 20,000+ people has a minimum of 5 bands with the words Autumn or Shatter in their name.
It's like Jack Sparrow is singing Make Damn Sure....gosh....Adam should really get to the audition of the next captain Jack Sparrow if Depp ever retired.. ahaha
Wow I was really digging it till the song was just cut off...Anyone else notice there's a ton of TBS MakeDamnSure live videos that never have the entire song on youtube?....
@MaxRunham They might be considered "professional musicians" as in that music is their profession, their job. But I've never thought of TBS as musicians that PLAY professionally. And I couldn't care less. It's those frequent crackups and little flaws in Adam's singing that touch me the most. It's bands like TBS, blink-182, Green Day etc. that have shown people that they can start their own bands and eventually be successful, without requiring the skills to win at a Dream Theater audition.
Honestly it sounds good to me, I can't really tell how off it is? I sing this and it sounds similar to this, I'm a guy, it's really high to sing this. But fuck, it sounds good to me.
@scava21 Well, I guess it really comes down to for what purpose is your live performance being recorded? I can kind of understand how DVDs of big bands get edited to make them sound better (best example: "The Urethra Chronicles II" by blink-182, which is heavily edited on the live clips; and blink is not a great live band to begin with). But with shows like Letterman, O'Brien etc. it's pretty much up to the production company and/or host to decide whether they want the pure sound or auto-tune.
Joshua S. This isn’t autotuned. If it is, it’s not done properly. If it was autotuned they would have easily dragged the notes to the correct pitch even with a lower setting like 20.
That was not pitch correction lol... and the singers go off-key multiple times in the song but never terribly.. pretty good performance. Yes the goal is to be perfectly on pitch, but they're rock singers. Lol... part of the territory
Евгений Горобей no, they do not use autotune. The label sometimes uses it on official releases but it’s out of their control. Just like how they changed the intro to Great Romances of the 21st Century without their knowledge. If they had used autotune on their albums and shit you wouldn’t be able to hear a single out of pitch note which you can even on recent releases. They just do what people did before autotune was invented. They do a lot of takes, pick out the best version of every line and they mix them.
2:00 "must. throw. the mic.... nah i can't, shit..."
this will break him down so badly
I love this band SOOOOO DAMNED SURE MUCH!!!!
I guess he wasn't allowed to grab the mic and throw it around like a PRO. But you can see how bad he's holding back xD
:D
1:59 hahahaha
Lmaoo
Adam sounds pretty good in my opinion. I’m a vocalist but I think it’s more opinion over facts
WOW that is one incredible backup voice by the lead guitarist gj! respect!
That’s Fred. Welcome to TBS.
Something about the lack of perfect pitch in his voice made the song so real and even better to me. I loved it then and love it now!
You son of a... I was really getting into it then it got cut off...
peaaanuuutz I know right.
They are incredible live.
I love this performance, I love their voices in this
This is the best version of this song on RUclips. Hard notes to hit as well.
really bothers me that people want live performances to sound like the cd, / mp3. its not realistic, how you feel when you perform is real. this is an amazing projection of how Adam felt at the time, which is to me an amazing performance

He must be so tired after singing this. This is amazing.

The way Adam moves reminds me of Woody from Toy Story
TBS was awesome with that members
It sounds perfectly

Matt Fazzi replaced Fred a couple years ago... now TBS is back to their original lineup which means John Nolan took over Fred's/Fazzi's role... even though it was originally John's in the first place :)
He's so damn good at it too
He does this little dinosaur pose when he sings
Aol, DAMN YOU for dying
all the feels!!!
@atticusglenn he's gotten so better recently. i saw him in november 2011 and during the summer of 2011 and he was SO much better at screaming, it was surprising.
post full version pls
wonderful~!! good~!!
I wish I look good like Adam I'm jealous:(
Is there only 3,784 viewers watches great live performances? Gonna make damn sure.
Adam is hot af
Adam's all about swagger and it doesn't matter who sings behind him. The best frontman in the business, without a doubt.
Awesome!!
So good
Better then the album version.
@goodbyecadillac look at the dvd live make damn sure that one is by far the best
They sound different but that doesn't mean they don't sound good anymore. the new guy's is pretty fuckin awesome
I love Fred
@scava21 Yes, I do know the dvd live performance. It sounds good, but it's also post-edited to make everything (not just the vocals) sound better. They basically do this with ANY live performance that goes on sale.
i don't know if he's new to the band.. but he replaces fred as backup vocalist. check out their orensanz concert!
Is there a longer version?
anyone else notice that the song ends early??
he has the back up vocals and he is playing lead also why don't you give bro the lead parts at the guitarist on the side who are not doing any vocals.
sounds like the album which is good!
Eddie, the Columbian, not Mexican, is in this video, you can see him at about 1:48 on the right hand side by Matt Rubano.
@goodbyecadillac the DVD live show is on here somewhere
come on i want to see some mic tricks
He tried to grab the mic so many times lmao!!
its not fat, its added awesomeness
right exactly at 1:59
2:00 he Looked like he was about to Throw spin The shit out of that Mic then realized Oh damn This is just Practice session lol
Still fuckin awesome.
Saints row 2
Taking Back Sunday has been a HUGE inspiration to us growing up!
Come support a small acoustic band?
sure, first step, take the word autumn out of your bands name! WAY over used. There was a study done and every single town in america bigger than 20,000+ people has a minimum of 5 bands with the words Autumn or Shatter in their name.
It's like Jack Sparrow is singing Make Damn Sure....gosh....Adam should really get to the audition of the next captain Jack Sparrow if Depp ever retired.. ahaha
@goodbyecadillac Yeah that is true, but cant they do that to any live performance if they wanted?
@NycRiiTz That or it could be early in the morning. Its hard to sing in the morning!
that's my boy :)
Damn... Adam lost his voice badly.
dude i thought the exactly same thing! what a coincidence :P
saw him at warped, he's back on the wagon
thats really the old guy.. lol
where's the rest of the song?
@PixieBeth93 haha. oh yeah. looking forward to this years Reading/Leeds. ;)
Does anyone know where I can download the AOL sessions?
Limewire Pro
Adam and Tom Delonge are very similar.
la la la
Wow I was really digging it till the song was just cut off...Anyone else notice there's a ton of TBS MakeDamnSure live videos that never have the entire song on youtube?....
I'm not a "TRUE FAN." I just like some of their songs.
Fred was the best :D
@MaxRunham They might be considered "professional musicians" as in that music is their profession, their job. But I've never thought of TBS as musicians that PLAY professionally.

it is probably one of the hardest songs to sing ever created imo
that's definitely fred. like, for sure that's fred.
@goodbyecadillac Agreed. This, Error operator and One-Eighty by summer all really challenge Adams vocals
🤙
@scava21 Well, I guess it really comes down to for what purpose is your live performance being recorded? @Jasonthegaiface how?
@goodbyecadillac but if your going to play a live show, you should be pretty tight.
That is def fred. . . . .
@atticusglenn John Nolan is the man!! I like him way better .. good to see the original line up again!! John's vocals are wicked bro!! ? @
The.. new guy?
@rastakim16333 Fact: Bears eat Beats. Bears, Beats, Battle Star Glatica!
pretty sure that IS fred
Damn no love for the rhythm guitarist?
Eddie is a complete beast, his rifts and licks are legendary.
i dunno man... he sings fred's part and I'm pretty sure he isn't fred haha
Trembly as hell..
That was not pitch correction lol... and the singers go off-key multiple times in the song but never terribly.. pretty good performance. Yes the goal is to be perfectly on pitch, but they're rock singers. Lol... part of the territory
shit son
I'm dying hahahaha
autotune has broken down ))

They dont use autotune, you'd be able to tell If they did. Listen to a majority of pop or all the modern day rap and you'll be able to hear it
