    • @djxiii
      @djxiii 3 года назад +14

      @@12bakd75 Here's a great explanaiton from Fred in an interview
      Ultimate-Guitar: Some of the tracks that appear on Bend To Break were originally brought to Taking Back Sunday for inclusion on Louder Now?
      Fred Mascherino: Yes a few of the songs were ones I had brought to Taking Back Sunday and they for one reason or another, thought wouldn't fit the album. And one of those songs was If I Surrender. They were saying that it was too much of a pop song but I thought it would have been great. Everything I wrote, I'd always let the band hear and if they weren't into it I'd say, 'well that will go to my next project'.
      Ultimate-Guitar:Do you think having your own material consistently being knocked back by the band fuelled the impetus for you to finally leave?
      Fred: It was one of the factors. I will try and clarify it. I didn't leave the band simply to do this. I left the band because I felt it had hit the end of the road. We were trying to write our fourth record and the excitement that I had writing the last two, just wasn't there for me. And it really showed because when we were writing Louder Now, we had got together and in the first week we came out with four of the songs. But when we were writing for the new record, we couldn't finish one song and we had been at it for months.

    This is one of my favorite bands, but I need to point out that this performance was pitch corrected. Fast forward to 3:45 when Fred is screaming "i've got it bad". The weird pitch glitch you hear is because the pitch correction wasn't getting a pitch since he was screaming so it did not know where to place his voice. The more you know..

    You people do know that when you go see a band live it won't be perfect... you all going on about auto tune and how their vocals sound and shit, if you wanna hear perfection stay at home and listen to their CD and don't see them live. when you see a band live it's about the rawness of the music, to see them actually playing the songs and to see their emotion and to just have fun. Adams vocals aren't the best but everyone knows his voice and knows its taking back sunday when you hear his vocals, he puts a lot of emotion into it when he plays live and to be honest I like it when he sings out of tune here and there because it shows that he is not perfect but can still connect with millions of people. No one gives a fuck and is just letting loose anyway, its all about vibes man.

      It seems to me that his vocals are being run through a compressor. When you scream all sorts of funky cracks and whistles happen. They might be quiet, but compress the vocals and you can hear the cracks. I could be totally wrong tho. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't get much better than Fred on vocals.

    Actually the part at 3:44 doesn't sound autotuned. I can see why you might think that because of the way the note jumps around, but think of the technique he's using to sing that. If you try that, I'm confident you will have trouble keeping a consistent note and it will sound the same when the note jumps around because your vocals chords are getting the shit kicked out of them and slipping. Also the whole performance has out of tune notes and the guitars go slightly sharp during some parts, which leads me to believe that AOL did not autotune this performance, which is odd because AOL is known for autotuning most live sessions, but honestly, this one doesn't sound like it is.

      It's autotuned. You can mess around with the ratio and wet/dry mix in post-production as much as you like, the part at 3:44 is definitely a fluctuation due to pitch correction.

      Did you even read the first half of what I wrote though m8? It's entirely possible to make that noise naturally by simply screaming and pushing your vocal chords too hard. I've done it. I stand by my opinion and you can have yours, but just consider that.

    When screaming the voice is very unpredictable. That's not auto tune. If you auto tune a scream it sounds way more jumpy. That sound is just him trying to find a pitch while screaming which is very hard to do

    The reason Adam and Fred sound a little better than usual is because I can imagine it's easier to hear your self sing in a setting like this as opposed to a venue with loud people and shitty monitors

    Well auto tune makes voices sound a little more echo-ish. maybe they have some extra gain in there like aol always does, but idk about autotune.
