Fred Mascherino: Yes a few of the songs were ones I had brought to Taking Back Sunday and they for one reason or another, thought wouldn't fit the album. And one of those songs was If I Surrender. Ultimate-Guitar:Do you think having your own material consistently being knocked back by the band fuelled the impetus for you to finally leave? Fred: It was one of the factors. I will try and clarify it. I didn't leave the band simply to do this. I left the band because I felt it had hit the end of the road. We were trying to write our fourth record and the excitement that I had writing the last two, just wasn't there for me. And it really showed because when we were writing Louder Now, we had got together and in the first week we came out with four of the songs. But when we were writing for the new record, we couldn't finish one song and we had been at it for months.
This is one of my favorite bands, but I need to point out that this performance was pitch corrected. Fast forward to 3:45 when Fred is screaming "i've got it bad". The weird pitch glitch you hear is because the pitch correction wasn't getting a pitch since he was screaming so it did not know where to place his voice. The more you know..
I'm pretty sure it's just his voice cracking or whatever it does when you scream. Remember that Fred never learned how to scream with the correct technique that doesn't shred up your voice. He said in one if his recent videos his voice still shreds up when he tries to scream nowadays.
@@raymon8044 He may be screaming with less than perfect technique, but that's definitely the result of poor pitch correction from whoever mixed it. The intervals are mechanically perfect and don't sound human at all.
Lookin at Adams vocals from the 2000s up to me seeing him 3 weeks ago at PNC..he is definitely a studio vocalist who requires multiple sessions to get the sound right..live, his vocals are never anything close to the album sound.. Love these guys, had a blast, but do not ever expect adam to have vocals thatll carry the show.
Definitely not a 10/10 hit with these crazy demanding songs. I remember hearing the pitch correct on their live acoustic album from years ago and realized they use a lot of processing for these recorded gigs.
You people do know that when you go see a band live it won't be perfect... you all going on about auto tune and how their vocals sound and shit, if you wanna hear perfection stay at home and listen to their CD and don't see them live. when you see a band live it's about the rawness of the music, to see them actually playing the songs and to see their emotion and to just have fun. Adams vocals aren't the best but everyone knows his voice and knows its taking back sunday when you hear his vocals, he puts a lot of emotion into it when he plays live and to be honest I like it when he sings out of tune here and there because it shows that he is not perfect but can still connect with millions of people. No one gives a fuck and is just letting loose anyway, its all about vibes man.
Am I the only one that noticed the straight up tuning on all of the box, you can hear it on the last line when Fred says bad and his nice cracks and it sounds like t pain lol
Fred brought out the best in all of them but that's also why they separated from Fred I think he got under their skin because he wanted to practice and focus on the music and they wanted to mess around I think the quote was they care more about cooking then practicing and making music or something like that
Fred isn't auto tuned at 3:44. He's pitch correcting himself on the scream cause he couldn't hear himself for a sec. It happens a lot in live performances.
I think it made it endearing, if not better, to kinda check yourself, not sound truly perfect, but to completely nail an incredible song otherwise - life renditions ftw
It seems to me that his vocals are being run through a compressor. When you scream all sorts of funky cracks and whistles happen. They might be quiet, but compress the vocals and you can hear the cracks. I could be totally wrong tho. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't get much better than Fred on vocals.
there is auto tune, but obviously not alot, just enough to help them stay on pitch. but at the end as u can see it does work with screams cuz screams arent an exact pitch and ur able to hear the auto tune trying to correct the pitch of the scream more. btw tbs didnt decide to auto tune them selfs, its the guys at aol sessions who edited the song.
That's what he was saying. The guy before him asked if he was the only one who thought TBS was best with Fred and the guy said he agreed wholeheartedly. I'm on the fence though, I do like some John Nolan.
