      The RCNetwork I think TLR have raised the benchmark with the rounding off of carbon fibre components. The battery tray is a nice improvement, not sure how long the strap will last though.
      The drivetrain is particularly smooth. The alloy components are beautifully finished. There’s a lot of good stuff, refinement! 👍🤓🇦🇺

    Couldn’t agree more, hands down the best kit I have ever built. The only minor flaw I ran across was actually one of the turnbuckles had the directional indicator on the incorrect side. I had to sit there scratching my head when I was trying to put on a ball cup and finally got the magnifying glass out and sure enough the threads were backwards vs the rest of the turnbuckles. Other than that, completely flawless.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  4 года назад

      Maybe a "Carbon Fiber Copy" - all kidding aside, most 4wd buggies look similar these days. I'm glad TLR is in the same ball game now with a shaft drive car - but they did kill it with all of the details that many manufacturers overlook. I made some remarks during the video on one particular manufacturer...

    1000% agree on motor mounts. the 8ightX-e should have taken a page out of that book.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  4 года назад

      Yep, 1/8th scales are terrible with motor mounts these days - like the HB and the 8ight X and the clamping style. The Team Durangos were bad where the motor was fixed and the center diff moved to the motor mount. The SWorkz where the motor bolted to the mount and then to the car....the Pro-Line Pro-MT as well. Even worse was the B44.2 and previous cam-style motor mounts. It was always a guessing game to get that mesh right. All RC's should have the 22x-4's motor mount. (period)

    Man, I really like this... I'm not really a TLR guy, but thinking if I had an extra 500$, I'd be building ome of these... the EB410.2 looks good too, and I was considering building one of those for my kid to dip his toes into 4wd, but may have to re-evaluate things... for some reason I haven't fell in love with the Xray, or even the AE B74(our 2wd racers are AE)....
    The exra hardware and bits, the small details , like wire routing, extra machining steps, all make this just a well done kit, no wonder it took them a while. Those battery blocks are great, no more loosing so much foam! Wondering if you could use smaller blocks just to add a small cushion stuck to those blocks? Did they include a spare battery strap, in case the rubber were to snap? That would be my worry with a rubber strap. Wheels included even...
    Cant wait to see what you power it with and what u think after runnimg it some...

      Yeah, I was shocked to see that too. I tried a 1.3mm wrench, but it was pretty tight. It's only on 4 screws - the ones that hold the piston on the shock shaft.

    • @paulgarwood192
      @paulgarwood192 4 года назад

      The RCNetwork that’s the worst part, you build 99.9% of the kit metric and then 4 screws that are not labelled as .050th pop up and you try and make a 1.5mm fit. By the time common sense kicks in, which is about 3 hours for me, you’ve gone crazier 🤪🤪🤪🤪
      But it was an impressive kit, fit and finish was superb. I have a 22-4 that has not been used at all, so this one I’ll live vicariously through your build! 👍🤓🇦🇺

  • @DimiS1978

    Did you by any chance have mislabeled bags? I think about 25% of mine had the wrong numbers lol. For example, my J bag, only J1 was labeled correctly, the rest were all wrong. I used a bit of black grease for the turnbuckles and was amazed how easily they went together, no sore fingers. Barely took me 10 minutes to build those.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  3 года назад

      yeah, TLR got a ton of flack on the belt drive and many of the quirks of the 22-4's. They also didn't do too well outside the hands of the pros....a buddy of mine has one and it does well, just got to keep up with the diffs and the tuning

    What pinion gears should I get for the TLR 22x-4 as a starting point? As a. starting point. I would start with the 78t spur gear and I purchased a 13.5T motor and I am not much experience driver. I am based in the UK where temps are not very high and plan to start practicing on shorter tracks.
    If anyone could give some advice that would be great.

    • @TheRCNetwork

      According to the manual, TLR recommends a 78/24 for a 13.5t motor....now keep in mind that most 13.5t classes are filled with people that really tweak their settings including timing and boost.....so you might appear slower at first until you get into the settings of your electronics

    Rich, I have a (fairly strong, tho not 100% certain) feeling that the flat body mounts are not for Velcro. If they were for Velcro, then the included Velcro would have been cut circular. Since the Velcro was cut rectangular, I'm thinking the Velcro is for 'traditional' body mounting...ie. side rails & lower sides on the body. So, what would those flat body mounts be for? How about magnets? There are several vehicles that have come out over the past year utilising magnetic body mounts, and, as magnetic body mounting becomes more popular, it would be understandable why TLR might incorporate it into newer vehicles.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  4 года назад

      The flat style body mount (without the dimple for a body clip) started (for me) on the B64d - it came with traditional body mounts, but everyone was shaving the dimple down to flat to act as a body stop for using velcro. That's what the mount is for - to stop the body from coming in contact with electronics and moving parts like the center diff. Then, velcro is used on the side guards and the body to keep it attached. Velcro is not placed on the round part - sorry if that's what I made it sound like in the video

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  4 года назад

      As for magnetic? I doubt we will see that in race buggies. As cool as it might be....it's too much of a "what if" for racers. I think drifters and some scalers, it's fine for....but even scalers have went away from magnets for body mounting

      Most wheelers look similar these days. Where the TLR shines are the details and extras they give you in the kit

    This is my favorite feature ITS AN EXACT COPY OF THE X-RAY XB4 way to go TLR how long did it take doing your homework? 3 days for shipping your Xb4 from a main so so can start copying it. Even in the manual tells you to weigh the diffs for proper fluid WOW X-ray had that in there manual since 2013. The slipper is an exact copy. WTF TLR your embarrassing. The carbon fiber is exact copy!

      Many 4wd buggies look similar now.....AE, TLR, Xray. the only real "think outside the box" is the Tekno...and the distant last place is Kyosho with their 2006 design
