@@dannyishere5644 wltoys are great value for money and easy and cheap to maintain. No they’re not the best handling machines, but for the price point you can’t go wrong
just bought mine, its much cheaper to get this in malaysia vs other non asian countries. My first RC car and a start of the hobby. Will try what you said and give it a go.
Your doing a great job, yes, your right, going over even expensive cars is a must. Just got a outcast 8 s and found multiple problems that needed adjustment and loose screws.
Most offroad RC's factory setup is a small amount of toe out on the front. It makes the steering more responsive and aggressive in initial turning at the expense of straight line stability. It can add a little understeer at corner exit which can help rookie drivers.
Yes I added grease to the diffs. Took a tiny bit of oil out the front shocks, you can tell with out opening them as they won't fully compress. As for the steering the toe out enables a tighter turn. I feel the hubs bind up before the servo is at full travel, and there is no dual rate to stop this happening so it stresses the servo. May be a slightly shorter servo horn or some cutting of the hubs in the future for me to give the clearance required. Thanks for the video. And very pleased with my car its faster than anything I had in the 90's for a quarter of the price.
Using proper diff fluid makes a massive difference, something around 20 to 30.000wt, the only reason they come with a little grease inside the diff instead of diff fluid is because it's quicker when assembling.
Great 3 touch points 2:00 yep! The shocks can seem to be overfilled making them feel like they've had a second spring added. Close up stuff really good!
Just found your channel, great content! Will be getting a 144001 because of your vids. FWIW, front toe out will increase steering response so the car will turn in more aggressively, and I suspect that's why it was set up that way out of the box. You're correct that increased tire wear will happen as a result, but on a car that doesn't spend a lot of time going dead straight it will be a marginal increase. Reducing front toe out will dull the steering much more than it will extend tire life.
You actually want a bit of toe out on the front at rest in a four-wheel drive rc. Under acceleration the front tires get pulled together due to slop in everything which will equal out to about 0 toe if you start out with a bit of toe out. A little bit of toe out also helps initial turn in for steering.
4wd on independent suspension normally would have a slight toe out. I would like to see one fully loaded with all the upgrade accessories and blind there is for one of these!
finally able to use this video. Awesome tips thanks so much. My only issue is the included 2200mah runs out too quickly. Any higher capacity that can fit in the tiny battery tray you can suggest? Even another 2200mah will do once it fits 😅
Thank you SO much! Liked and subscribed. I want this to be my first RC, it seems awesome to learn on and upgrade. Along with buying these, what tools should i get? I heard a dynamite starter kit, will that have wverything i need for the 144001? Also should I get grease and shock oil? Which shock oil? Extra tires? Where do you buy most of your parts and upgrades off of? Anything else needed as essentials for starting in RC? Thanks so much
You can get all metal turnbuckle upgrades, got mine on order. Should take a lot of the play out of the steering. Ive also seen where putting orings on the balljoints helps remove more steering play. Another thing im gonna try because you cant steer or straight line the thing properly on anything but the most perfect surface there is so much play!
I think my son is getting one for Christmas this year. He's 7 and has broken several hobby grade cars. I hope this one lasts him a little longer. At least we can work on it if it breaks.
After having a heli with a brushed motor once, with which I had to exchange the motor every three flights, I'm sceptic about the longevity of the brushed motor in that car. How long will it last? Its exchange is said to be difficult, because you can hardly get the motor and pinion of the plate.
Yeah i would do it immediately or order a set of diffs. I am consitering it a necessity in the set i am waiting for in the mail. If you grab the out drive on one side you will feel the jiggle to shim immediately. The stock gears are pretty soft regardless. Apparently the secret hardend ones are available on their website... but not on bangood as i am to understand. Hopefully someone will correct me on that.
I thought toe-out & toe-in was "built in" purposefully by the manufacturer to allow for movement of the toe angle within the steering when the car is moving forward. Toe-out for front wheel drive and 4 wheel drive and toe-in for rear wheel drive. Surely by adjusting it, by eye, when the car is stationary does nothing but bugger it all up.
correct there is a certain level of toe-in built in which does aid for cornering stability but after adjusting mine it just felt a whole lot better all round including corners not just straight line stuff. May not be for everyone which is fine its simple to adjust back to normal
Yep, agreed it is not just a question of setting toe by just looking and then adjusting the front wheels to get them parallel. Toe-in and toe-out have specific effects on the car's handling and normally as you said, a 4 wheel drive buggy is purposefully set with a ocuple degrees of front toe-out to increase stability. Increased toe-out will typically result in reduced understeer, helping free up the car, especially during initial turn-in while entering a corner.
@@radiocontrolled9181 i recently purchased 4 of these for Christmas gifts. There is certainly zero adjustment or calculation done by the factory. All the tie rods are put on the car fully tightened all the way. So basically the way, the tie rods came from the factory is how they are put on the car. The grease you are using is to viscous. It's not a big problem, it's just that you are loosing a bit of power and the engine needs to work more and hotter.
Been running my RCs like this for over 20 years without issue. The extra viscosity comes in handy when using a more powerful brushless system helps to preserve the diff 😎👍
You mite have to shim the rear diff. If you can’t tighten down the screws without affecting the Diff action. Those little diff screws need to be tight. Cheers
That would work fine. An easy way to tell if the shock is overfilled without even taking it apart is to manually compress the shock if it compresses fully you are good to go if it doesn't there is a high chance it is over filled. Thanks
I ordered one of these a few days ago and now I'm looking exactly for videos like this one! What would you say about breaking in the motor that's in this 144001?
Glad you liked the vid! Its something that should probably be done as with all brushed motors people have different methods submersion in water, low speed runs etc but in all the years I have never bothered and have been generally fine with carful maintenance I mean if you run pack after pack and the motor gets extremely hot then there will be issues as thats usually where brushed motors fail through heat generation. Brushless is more efficient, maintenance free most of the time and generally cooler but with the added expense.
I just ran a pack through mine with the throttle trim turned all the way down and a bit of tape holding the throttle. I havent heard of one person having a single issue with this motor. Not a huge task for such a large motor to run such a tiny car i imagine.

is just automotive lithium grease which has a high melting point have been using this stuff on my RC's for many years and works just fine. There is RC branded stuff but a lot of the time i think its the name you are paying for!
Also I use a expensive break slide grease or using what he was using is fine for this rc. If you want to go crazy use a Lucas car racing heavy lube. It binds to the metal and stops race engines from blowing when oil runs low.!
you dont have to but there won't last long with the minimal grease they come supplied with! it's not a massive job to do and will preserve the diffs! They are virtually dry out of the box!
Take for few spins first it won't hurt , take pictures when you take apart and make sure you don't over tight into plastic use cross pattern to tighyen no drill just advice i never oven diffs for some 30 years was amazed how crappy but also how they work its like they know bare minimal that would wotk goid luck with your rc hope you got it

It would help to know what grease you used, you just showed what it looked like like that's going to help
high temp lithium grease, any brand will do doesn't have to be RC related
How come they use Grease instead of diff oil?
no seals so will leak out. Grease is very thick and stays in
@@beyondRC Ohhhh..i appreciate it.
But standard grease don't wear earlier plastic parts?
i am using high temperature lithium grease in this video and have had no issues since.
Nope! That's what the marketing liars want you to believe in order to buy their super expensive 'special' grease - it's all bullshit.
@@radiocontrolled9181 I didn.t know, thanks!
Does anybody know if you can pair a different (Longer range) controller with this rc
not with stock ESC :)
@@beyondRC thanks, might do it
I took my 144001 out of the box and played with it right away so right now its kinda wrecked.......should've watched this video before smashing the car
Hey, appreciate the video. Appreciate the content. Do the brushless and go for the 100mph. 👍🏼
Thanks 😎! Brushless is happening the parts are on order!
100mph?! Yikes! I just think it would be fun stock.!but it would be fun to see Someone do this. I am speedsyko, so maybe I should build one! I’m building a 100mph XMAXX right now.
Thanks for showing the guys this video, it is important to do this.
so what grease is it?
is just automotive lithium grease which has a high melting point have been using this stuff on my RC's for many years and works just fine.
Do I have to greese the diffs if I get one
you dont have to but there won't last long with the minimal grease they come supplied with! it's not a massive job to do and will preserve the diffs! They are virtually dry out of the box!
This will be my first rc car that I didn't buy at Walmart how do I take out the diffs
@@anthonybrown9434 ruclips.net/video/tIF4IwTKSOE/видео.html not my video but demonstrates what to do!
Thanks
Take for few spins first it won't hurt , take pictures when you take apart and make sure you don't over tight into plastic use cross pattern to tighyen no drill just advice i never oven diffs for some 30 years was amazed how crappy but also how they work its like they know bare minimal that would wotk goid luck with your rc hope you got it
What about batteries?
i managed to fit a 3s 2200mah comfortably in the buggy.
Does it not destroy it‽
What battery?
Im looking for a battery
Yes a 3s 2200mah on stock esc more than likely but I ran brushless in this and fit a 2200mah in the battery tray
I have one off these and mine is fucked :( have bought a metal upgrade kit and it seems slow and the stearing is messed up :( I think I need anew engine as it’s stock still but does anyone want to buy mine haha I’m done with it
How much
And get metal hexs if you haven't already
Thanks for that info i will be sure to check those out!
Hi how are u
I use wd40 it works perfectly
Also the cars spoiler tends to to brake from crashing
it's probably not ideal in a diff ideally you want to be using high temp lithium based grease.
Thanks! :~)))
