I saw the thumbnail and WOW!! Totally blown away by that knife Jim, very classy and great choice of materials, I may never own a knife like it, but I sure as hell can appreciate the thing. WOW!!
You are my favorite knife geek ever, the exuberance and passion in your reviews is always appreciated and in this video I can almost hear you drooling over that master crafted knife, cheers to you & Fisher & Wilson!
Stunning. That's like if you had the chance for a Loveless / Walker ( That would have been interesting ) Thanks for sharing that awesome score . Where will you build the alter?😂👍
Even with the natural advantage of the eye popping materials in the materials these guys are still on a totally different level, the way they the way patterns are oriented with that mirror polish and no hardware showing the whole thing looks like rippling water and it is dead sexy!
I had no idea damasteal was not pattern welded, that is rather impressive, you mentioned a pm process...... How do they get a pattern that way, that is straight up wizardry!
You mentioned all the parts being in timascus including the "liners". Are there really liners? Or are the bolsters and liners one big piece with a milled out slot for the damasteel?
Damn I want one that’s less dressy but the dealer pricing was just a bit much. Glad you managed to scored one because you definitely deserved to be one of the lucky owners.
Hey Jim, you and I are in a couple similar groups on FB. I love your custom knife content as well as the knife work you do. There’s a group called CMF metalworks. Ian is a superb custom make that I feel could swing your attention. He’s great. Rock on
Daylan Andrews Thank you. Yes, I’ve known Ian for a couple years now. I post sometimes in his group too. We’ve discussed a build for me, but we’ve both been very busy this year.
Jim, real traditional Damascus, actual Wootz with not only a pattern but also measurable performance enhancement is crucible steel. What you are talking about is modern pattern welded steel, Wootz doesn't need to be cut & forge welded to have it's pattern.
@@JimSkeltonKnives I had meant the 2 messages to one message and I thought you might like to see the work Alfred Pendray is doing to recreate Wootz it's really cool. I had not meant to detract in anyway from the amazing knife in this video or the world class skill of Mr. Fischer & Mr. Wilson or, even your own taste in knives as you easily have to most impressive collection I have ever seen...... Especially that Daracsteel Deegman- it's sooooo blue! I love your channel, your enthusiasm for knives is just as apparent in guest blade episodes as any episode about the knives in your collection which I really appreciate and, the Advanced Tibia is my favorite of the knives you make. Cheers man, 🐉
i like to think that grant and gavin hawk are the mad scientists of the general knife world but stan is one of the masters of the master of the masters. But hey, to each their own.
also, that knife has the design to be held "backwards" you could say... where the blade is sticking out from your pinky finger/butt of hand with the blade facing away from you((same direction your knuckles are punching (away from you))....
That worry about delamination is because it's not really Damascus steel, it's pattern welded steel. Real Wootz Damascus steel doesn't do that cause it's crucible steel and the steel comes out the crucible with the Wootz pattern in it but it is not as controllable. Here is a link to a video on some of Alfred Pendray work towards recreating actual Wootz steel, it's rather interesting: ruclips.net/video/OP8PCkcBZU4/видео.html
You have done it again Mr Skelton,Unfucking believable.i don’t know what else to say.. everytime I say “oh my god that’s the most beautiful knife I have ever seen “ Bam ,you show me another knife that’s even sweeter... Wow !
It real simple- If you have a chance to get in on a 30 off invitational serious collectors only collaboration by 2 world class G.O.A.T.s you go the full nines cause that's the point of serious collecting ain't it?
WOW extra flashy but beautiful nonetheless ..... love you trying to make out you're skint Jim lad haha , you have like one of the best knife collections on youtube if not the best , sell a couple of blades and you have the money for that one my man :) Good one !
The craftsmanship on this piece is very very good, but I'm not particularly a fan of the dama on timascus throughout, I feel like all that busy pattern drowns out elements of the knife that could otherwise showcase how great it is... very cool knife nonetheless
Tony Tyler There’s so much staggering ignorance in your comment that I can’t even try to break it all down. Go enjoy what you enjoy, and let the rest of us enjoy quality.
Jim Skelton Well because i think $6000 for a knife is way too dam much and naked me ignorant...that's fine rather be that than stupid to buy a knife with no real value one value somebody think it's WORTH!! You know stupid parole actually invested in Tulips well we all know how that ended up...
Yes, a bit late in the game here, but I don't care how pretty a knife is, if the maker sticks a shark fin into the soft of my hand, with no possible good reason (other than a dieseling ego), it is a loser. You bent way too far over backwards in some Trumpish attempt to validate the maker's stupid maneuver. It was a move so stupid and harmful to the ultimate consumer as to render all the glitz and smoking mirrors null and void. In my opinion. Many are willing to withstand the needlessly inflicted pain to validate (as you have) the 'fin' and all the money that you spend on this garish monstrosity. Thanks for the vids! Peace
lol, feel better now? You’ve insulted one of the greatest knifemakers to ever live and insulted me. All in the same post. All without ever having held one in your hand. As the knife sits in your hand, you’re not affected by the fin. I haven’t watched this since I uploaded it, but I’m pretty sure I mentioned this AND demonstrated it. Before I held one, I thought it would dig in the hand too, but then I held one and realized that it doesn’t. Stan wouldn’t design a knife you couldn’t fucking hold 🤦♂️. When you own one, you have the right to criticize it, but since you don’t, you haven’t got a clue.
That blade is amazing and I couldn't imagine the time or the presicion it takes to make that.Thank you for sharing this with us.
I would watch it all day long!! 😍🔥
Simply incredible craftsmanship.
Stan resembles a Wizard for a reason folks. Insane talent to even create this all by hand.
Came back to watch this video for the 5th time
I saw the thumbnail and WOW!! Totally blown away by that knife Jim, very classy and great choice of materials, I may never own a knife like it, but I sure as hell can appreciate the thing. WOW!!

WOW! The contrast on the damasteel is incredible. Absolutely gorgeous knife.
Richard S I agree. Perfect etch.
That thing is an acid trip. Really neat looking thanks Jim!
Wow! It's so beautiful. My friend has been on the list for a Stan Wilson non-flipper flipper for almost 4 years.
Thomas Fedrich ida gave up after 3 months...4yrs and counting for a BLADE??? SMH
Even with the natural advantage of the eye popping materials in the materials these guys are still on a totally different level, the way they the way patterns are oriented with that mirror polish and no hardware showing the whole thing looks like rippling water and it is dead sexy!
Good day. Super knife. Indescribable beauty. And please tell me what is the thickness and length of the blade of this miracle ???
Thanks for the video. So cool to see knives like this.
I had no idea damasteal was not pattern welded, that is rather impressive, you mentioned a pm process...... How do they get a pattern that way, that is straight up wizardry!
Good video keep up the work and where can you make your own Knife
in the pictures it looks like it was just drawn in the computer, how the fuck can a person make something this fucking awesome?
How do they get the contrast from all stainless? I like that it isn't pattern welded but does that mean they lose the ability to control the pattern?
its all said in the previous posts, beautiful, amazing knife! One comment i didnt see anyone ask, is it for sale? ill buy it.
Can't wait to get my Fischer!
American craftsmanship is still alive. Stunning knife Jim. Curious on your knife how did they divide the work?
HE'S BACK!!!
another reason to want to win the lottery
"I dont know if he wants his name out there but its Jeff and his Instagram is boats and blades" couldn't help but chuckle at that
That's may be the busiest knife I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful.
Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is so friggin beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
Another knife I can't afford :(
if you can save $50-$100 a month after 4 year you have the money for one of these
naihanchin Kempo I gotta get a Job first. (Trying but no one hires 15 y/o in California really
You mentioned all the parts being in timascus including the "liners". Are there really liners? Or are the bolsters and liners one big piece with a milled out slot for the damasteel?
Jonathan Cheung Yes, you’re right. A bolsterlock is basically a framelock cut out to accept scales.
Been waiting for this forever! Incredible. Sexiest knife I've ever seen.
great knife and a good review video on it!
Damn I want one that’s less dressy but the dealer pricing was just a bit much. Glad you managed to scored one because you definitely deserved to be one of the lucky owners.

Reminds me of a Ron Best. He also loves working in similar materials.

Robert Deskins I’m not sure what spurred this comment? But yes, I’m aware of the difference between Wootz and today’s Damascus.

That knife is casserole.

Stunning
Beautiful knife.
Welcome back.
Check out the work of Alfred Pendray trying create modern wootz
Gorgeous
Holy grail
Unbelievable.
if it just turned to a shark fin on the other side, I think it would be aesthetically more beautiful and more comfortable
Trippy mayn

jftman53 ?
jftman53 tannic?
I’m cool with my Microtech
I still think that fin is dumb. But I guess the knife will never see any use anyways.
The craftsmanship on this piece is very very good, but I'm not particularly a fan of the dama on timascus throughout, I feel like all that busy pattern drowns out elements of the knife that could otherwise showcase how great it is... very cool knife nonetheless
Busy as hell... made me think my ZT is much prettier honestly
INVITATION ONLY?? ( MY SUCKER LIST) BWAHAHAHAHA..$6000???!!! YEAH THINK I'D RATHER BUY 5 BARS OF GOLD...BUT HEY THAT'S ME

Too cluttered with so much dam steel used.

That knife hurts to look at for to long
Blue fire31 lol yes, as I mentioned, it is a busy look with these materials, but many were done with less psychedelic materials.
Ugly knife
