Michael Madsen used to get on the Opie and Anthony show, the man was a riot, all you get with him is brutal honesty, none of that hollywood BS. Seems like a good man.
Ha, that’s exactly what I was about to comment…one of the very few REAL men in Hollywood
M M was a riot, whether he meant to be or not. he had a near 24/7 squint that was all his own, I think. I'm getting up there in age, and a quote by him in the re-make of 'the Getaway' always sticks w/ me. one of the Tilly girls was coming on to him, saying "we can be friends". MM: "it's been my experience that having friends is overated." and she comes off as a true bombshell in this scene. 'cause she is, and she can act. that line, I don't think is in the original. only saw it 100 times, I'd say.
@@tonym994hard day at the office for Mr Madsen doing them motel scenes with Miss Tilly . Lol 😂
Michael Madsen can play a terrifying bad guy when the role calls for it
Good for Michael for rejecting Hollywood bullshit.
His Performance in Kill Bill is unbelievably good. I love him in that.
Always been a Fan of Michael Madison and Stephen Baldwin.
It was probably Pacino's way to assess their chemistry without having to force Madsen to a reading that he didn't want to do. BRILLIANT.
The fighting thong?
Exactly.
Mr blonde was one of the best villains ever on camera
"Well, I don't know why I came here tonight, I got a feelin' that somethin' ain't right..."
I would hate to be stuck in the middle with him!.😂
I think some of his last was a lived too right?
Michael Madsen is one of those guys who's just naturally cool.
He cut a guy’s ear off to music!
@yaakw And did a super cool shuffle in the process 🤣
Is he?
I cant get enough of these back stories.
Johnny Depp is fantastic in Donnie Brasco! Al too!👍👍
Yeah, agreed. I mean, he's more impressive in Donnie Brasco than Michael Madsen was!
What are you talking about? lol he's awful there. Almost ruined the movie. Madsen is brilliant as always. Pacino was the best.
@@ohadavni Madsen wasn't "brilliant", he was the same as he always is. He's a solid actor who always plays a type. Love him, but you don't hire Madsen to craft a character, you hire him to be Madsen. Contrast that with 90s Depp did Ed Wood, Donnie Brasco, Fear And Loathing, those are all very different characters. I'm an Italian-American New Yorker, I was around during the 70s, Depp aced that part. Certainly better than Michael Madsen ever would have!
@@TTM9691 100% agree!
@@TTM9691Well, I beg to differ. It isn’t much of a stretch when one is covered in 10 lbs of makeup like Depp usually is.
Love how down to earth he is, everyone else is taking themselves seriously wrapped in a Hollywood bubble
Johnny Depp is phenomenal in Donnie Brasco.
mmmm no, he's not. He is a terrific actor but he was very bad in this movie.
@@ohadavni yeah he was so bad that people still watch this movie and appreciate his role almost 30 years later
@@SCSA3.16 People love the movie. I do. But it's about Madsen and Pacino. Depp is forgettable - they coulda put anyone in his role.
@@noleftturn5964100% correct 👍
@@noleftturn5964 but still director mike newell gave the role to johnny and most importantly the title role, what a co incidence
"Bruno Kirby pouring Johnny's cheerios." 😆 WTH
They were in character?..."naw,,they were just hanging out". 😅
I can’t get over him saying I don’t wanna hurt Willie or kids😂
Who r those
I literally laughed out loud when he said yeah. And I like Depp.
depp was good when he was young and hungry. he's been phoning it in for 25 years.
One of my best friends who's no longer with us said he was at a bar downtown and sat next to Michael Madsen. He says that it was fine but he just kept calling him Sonny black and Michael was getting annoyed.
😂😂
Really shows the intelligence or lack thereof of certain people who can't separate actors from characters and even actors characters from other characters.
@tonypine3434 I agree but giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he was drunk or maybe he was doing it to be annoying. Certainly not condoning it either way but if you hang out at bars, you're not meeting the highest quality of human beings.
He had made sense next to him for potential greatest night ever and anecdote for life and that what he got? YA BLEW IT
Stephen Baldwin and Michael Madsen saying Johnny Depp’s performance in Donnie Brasco was “terrible” and “lifeless” is just crazy.
Depp has unfortunately become terrible
I agree. He's great in it.
I wouldnt say terrible and lifeless, but his character was nothing like real Joe Pistone, but so was Sonny Black to be honest, Al Pacino was perfect cast for Lefty tho
Not really. Depps character was pretty bland. Any actor worth their salt could’ve played that role.
I agree with them,if you watch it nowadays you would defo agree total cardboard
In terms of acting chops, Depp acts circles around both these guys
Such a wild industry, I don’t know how actors keep it together with all that weirdness.
Mike Madsen does not take crap from anyone. Punching a dude out in The Viper Room and busting a toilet was hilarious the way he told the story.
Thank you Michael and Stephen for this interview and for sharing this story. I needed this today. I love you guys and your honesty !!!
I freaking LOVE Madsen. Bros such a great actor. His voice is so gangster. Really wanna hear him on Rick and Morty or Invincible or something. That voice is so cool.
As Michael Madsen ages, I think he's starting to channel Robert Loggia's voice
8 f*ckin hours later
Elvira! You want Elvira! Tony Mira!
Good thing for me then that your book don't mean oogats to me!!!
One of these guys is a great actor...the other is Stephen Baldwin.
I’m surprised you know his first name. I always refer to him as “a Baldwin (not the killer one)”
That's extremely accurate 😅
Usual Suspects tho…
They guy from biodome saying Depp was horrible is
MInd blowing
Who's the guy?
@@rayflynn162 Baldwin
@@jftube3333 Ah, thanks, I didn't get the biodome reference.
Stephen Baldwin is one of the nicest, most generous celebrities I've ever met. Madsen rules, too.
The Depp talk sounds like they don’t like him personally and are more than a little jealous of his career. He was very believable as Joe Pistone in a brilliant movie. Good gossip though, keep it coming!
Baldwin laughs like Liotta in Goodfellas, like if he really don't want to, but his life maybe depends on it.
Have you heard the real Henry Hill laugh? Ray Liotta nailed it.
I completely disagree with Mads and Bald regarding Johnny's performance in Donnie Brasco. Firstly, it is a great, great picture and secondly Johnny is fantastic in it, just like Al.....and just like Mads.
He seemed to be subtly suggesting Depp is too weak or effeminate to play a made guy and that they’d bump him off.
I agree. It was one of my favorite performances from him. I like whenever he plays more grounded characters
Cry
@@rickricky6421 yea exactly. it was unrealistic. But they needed a star to sell the movie.
the fact that you used the word FanTastic, says it all!
iWould not know how long he has this channel for, but, let's support these wonderful actors.
Madsen seems like an old school movie star, appreciative for the opportunities and a good guy.
I love Donnie Brasco!
Some people take their roles/jobs seriously and i believe johnny was in character throughout the film off and on camera 🤷🏽♂️
Wym off scene? He said he didn’t talk w Johnny at all
I understand what Michael is saying, I noticed that with a few actors that are like that. Where they play over the top characters but when they end up playing "normal" characters, there's nothing there. They're lifeless.
Nothing there in Donnie brasco though?
@@FilmThePoliceFTP I'm not sure. I love the movie. But I'm not sure if I like his acting in it or not.
I mean, comparred to your 'average' Depp role, it's very low key, but I think that's what it was supposed to be.
@@FilmThePoliceFTP What I'm saying is most of the time, he cannot do lowkey.
Depp was too effeminate for the part, a tougher looking bloke would have been better.
Actors are such trash. WTF does Al Pacino think he so important? Why do people put these "actors" on a pedestal?
Al Pacino stood in for Madsen. Did you not listen to the story?
Al Pacino is one of the greatest actors of all time learn some respect 🤡
Yeah exactly like Brando said - anyone can act. Like we do every day out in the real world
Because he was the cocaine king of Miami back in the day, and also the head of one of the mafia families.
@@dailymeandererBrando was trash in his personal life though.
I can’t say I blame Depp for not talking to Madsen. Him and a bunch of mobsters pushed and locked him in a room with a mechanical rat to send him a message. That’s insane. This is before they started filming. I feel like Madsen may have also been drinking a lot during those times and was not a particularly nice guy
Ok beta
You feel like Madsen was drinking a lot and Johnny wasn’t? Johnny was drinking, snorting, injecting, inhaling and God knows what else.
Yes but depp doesnt act the same. That Was the point @morgandavis6788
Johnny Depp is terrible in Donnie Brasco? You guys are crazy.
Joe Pistone has been praising Johnny Depp ever since it was released, so there you go
he sounded nothing like joe pistone. he was just selling his movie
@@sergiol.3755There's a lot more to playing someone then their voice.
They aren't wrong. Depp just does not convince as one of "those guys". He's the weak link in the cast.
Orangewarm
Fuhgettabouttit!
The way Al made Michael read anyway was brilliant 🫡
That’s one wild story! lol so good
Seems alot of men are jealous of Johnny Depp. He can't help it if he is extremely attractive. He's a good character actor. I'm not a fan of all his characters, but he still is very talented.
Johnny is a great actor. I prefer him when he plays more realistic characters like in Donnie Brasco, Public Enemies, What's Eating Gilbert Grape. But even his more over the top characters are still great too.
Why do you think they're jealous? lol
He's just talking reality that the Brooklyn accent was way off
Johnny Depp always looks like he needs a bath.
He always looks unkempt and like he hasn’t bathed in about a week.
I would be more "jealous" of pacino!
Lesson in this for everyone i.e. Michael at about 7:20 (tail end of experience w/Pacino for
Donnie Brasco). What an attitude, i.e. I'm not the one putting-up the money for this. Thanks to Michael and to Stephen for great interview of great actor.
I met Michael. A wonderful man.
That’s a cool story!

Love Madsen, but Depp is a better actor x
Depp a better actor than Madsen? Forget about it
@@bullock4211 Love Madsen, but technically Depp does have more range x
Madsen is harsh on Johnny, his performance was fine. Its Al Pacino's best performance imo. If you watch Michael Franzese podcast he rates Pacino's performance as one of the best depictions of a made guy in a movie.
Virginia Madsen is Michael Madsen's sister.
Look it up
She was very hot in the 80s
We landed on the moon!
I saw Pacino on the street in Manhattan once . He stood in the middle of the actual road and crouched down for what reason I have no idea . Maybe he was scouting locations
I hope Madsen has a big part in the final Tarantino movie
what a great voice he has. So good in The Walking Dead game.
I didn't even realise that was him. Perfect voice for that game and the character.
He wasn't in character, as Johnny Depp says he's just a strange dude. If he was in character he would defer decisions to Sonny Black.
Love Michael Madsen !
Heck yeah I love this channel
Damn! This is brilliant! Been a fan of Michael Madsen for an age. Love your work. All the best to you and yours from New Zealand.
Great actor
Love this!
Mr.Blonde is good as Michael Madsen
He probably wanted to see if he had the attitude for the character.
One of My favorite fuckin actors. He makes being a cool yet cold hearted asshole villain look damn good on screen 😅😅
Who is Bruno pouring the Cheerios?
Not nice to push Johnny in a room like that, it's a lack of respect.
I know Michael loves Robert Mitchum. My Dad got mistaken for Robert Mitchum a lot.
The funny thing is that he was 20 years younger than Mitchum.
I wish I could show Micheal a picture of my Dad.
New subscriber love it!~
Michael is hilarious ✌️
Good stuff
Lefty, johnny Depp probably left the country after Trump won?🤡

People who love Johnny Depp will disagree. People that love film for the art involved, will agree with Madsen. Depp aint rough or tough enough. Mickey Rourke woulda been better. Depps too sweet of a man. Bless him.
Donnie Brasco best Al Pacino and mob movie ever.
it seems like something was left out. I think Al was probably about to say, "you like to read? but you don't read for a film role"? Al would end up saying, "I hate reading for a role".
This guys voice got so gravely. This guy used to have a smooth, soft spoken voice. Must of been a smoker.
Pacino was making sure he was willing to play ball
Johnny Depp was good and decent as Donnie Brasco/Joe Pistone. Other than playing Edward scissorhands, dean corso in the ninth gate and Ichabod crane in sleepy hollow, Donnie brasco is one of the best Johnny Depp characters.
ah ha ha Michael Madsen as Edward Scissorhand.
At least somebody still has dvd's... had to look close to figure which one was madsen...
But who were the man fighting w him in the bathroom and why? He insinuating Johnny sent them?
Well done Sherlock.
This is refreshing I agree with Madsen and Baldwin I always felt Depp is too attractive and soft for tough guy type roles. These guys get it and I can sense by watching only a few videos of these real down to earth guys that they understand the business and the world of characters when the rest of the world doesn't seem to.
Yea the actual guy looked like a genuine gangster
I feel the same about Brad Pitt. Too pretty . Too self conscious. Just bland. Same voice , expressions in everything he does. I just don't get it.
@@DC-ih8bv At least Depp does some character stuff. Pitt really has had a career just because he's hot as fuck. There is literally nothing specia with himl acting-wise.
Depp normally doesnt play characters like that other then Black mass.
11:35 is best part of the whole shit
Michael Madson is what a 400 year old bottle of whiskey would sound like if it could talk. Also yeeeesss he would of made a great Batman.
Michael Madden RULES! Always has…a dudes dude
I thought he passed but it was Tom Sizemore. I always confuse these guys
Both these guys need a winter in Chicago or Boston or Minneapolis or Montreal, they need a shake up
And there skin needs a drying so they appreciate a good humidifier or moisturizer!😊
“But I love it” sounds zesty
wtf?? am i living in an alternate universe? i coulda sworn michael madsen died

Jonny Depp said one time that Al was completely INSAINE! So there's that
Nobody got the birds. I'm expecting it was a budget decision.

What a weird world you guys live in! Crazy stuff!
Stephen criticizing Johnny's acting--that's real rich.
Really cool. So funny
He didn’t even have a conversation w Johnny or were in thr same room yet ge talking about him
8:11 he said “ id see” as in “i would see” to talk about a past action? Im not native sorry
Michael Madsen should have played Jonny Cash in walk the line..........
Actors take note, you have to be Michael Madsen to pull this off. You're not Michael Madsen
Well that was a cool story
What he means by the cheerios story lol
