Well Jimmy didn't get the chance to answer the question the first time. He started explaining the answer, about it being called Received Pronunciation but then the other guy, the idiot, started talking over Jimmy so she never got to hear the answer. So she was correct to ask it a second time.

Carr brings up such an interesting point about the Royal Family not being politicians so they are able to concern themselves with the future of the country more than those elected every 4 years. I had not thought in those terms before.

That is a BIG upside to a monarchy and dictatorship as long as the right people are in those roles. History has shown us it can go very wrong.
But is not true. They have the same interests that some of the politicians do, and Royal families usually own really Big business in their countries, therefore they are just huge businessmen but with public money. In Spain there has been many cases of corruption in the royal family. Even the old king had to leave the country a few years ago.

If she'd actually listened to Jimmy, she would have heard the answer: "Received Pronunciation". Jimmy Carr arguably speaks a modern version of RP, similar to Princes William and Harry. The older members of the Royal Family speak an older form, sometimes called High RP.

To a native speaker, they are very easily distinguished. And the aristocracy, including the Royals, do not speak RP (Received Pronunciation, or 'BBC English'), they pronounce 'house' as 'hyce' (same as 'mice') and 'off' as 'awf' (as in 'awful').

I’ve subscribed after listening to their interview with Carr. I am a huge fan of Carr from the USA. I am a fan of Segura as well. Their style of comedy couldn’t be more different. But I like that they have quality people on this podcast. Great interview. Keep it up. I subscribe to quality with educational value in addition to being silly and funny. 🖖👏

Additionally, John Adamson from Scotland moved to America in the 1700s and became a wig maker. That is his grandson Adamson Tannehill who began fighting the British in 1775 with a squad from Maryland

Good interview. Mr. Carr is such a talent. However he is incorrect about the song Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond is partly incorrect. The song is about Caroline Kennedy. He saw a picture of her on her horse and he wrote the song. He said he lied about it for years because he thought it might embarrass her, so he made up a story. He ended up talking to her and she said she was honored so he now tells people about it being about her.

My mum said that when radio came out her grandma made sure her daughter listened to it a lot to pick up a better accent and way of speaking rather than a low class accent. Which is sad now I think because so many dialects are gone.
