That's my favorite scene in the entire Kill Bill. By far. So happy to get the behind the scenes story on that one because I never hear people mention it. That guy who played the boss was freaking perfection in that scene.
Baldwin's cut aways look like they were done a different day. He looks like Jim Carrey doing over-the-top reaction shots.
Ahahah on point
Michael Madsen became so type cast he became used to playing villains. He did a very good job in Free Willy.
I got to hang with him and I can say when he is looking and listening to you speak to him, his eyes and gaze and energy he gives off on you is best described as extremely sensitive. More like Free Willy than Vic Vega.
@@GuidoGrasso My dad met him as well at a hotel. Apparently really nice.
Madsen is a Legend and beautiful man. Thank you, Stephen, this is a great show. And I’m a huge fan of yours and ran into you in the Denver airport in the 2010’s and you were the coolest dude!
I used to watch Free Willy alot as a kid. I was born on Vancouver Island, so Orcas were an interest of mine being near their natural habitat. The movie was great. I never realized he was the dad. I needed this. Blast to the past.
Michael Madsen is a legend. Reservoir Dogs is a classic as is Free Willy. I hope he’ll get to be in Tarantino’s last film along with Tim Roth, Harvey Keitel and Steve Buscemi.
Tarantino's last film ?..
Some sort of testimonial ?
You phrased this comment in a way that suggest all the other actors are confirmed already.
I hope Tarantino directs Billy Madison 3
Salute Capt 🫡 O
@@dadoftheyeari hope there isnt a mindless Billy Madison 3
The Free Willy tangent is hilarious. ""Why the fuck am I this kid's father?" Free Willy needed "edge."
We watched the interview, we saw and heard. Thanks for the replay tho
As far as I know his role in Free Willy was one of the very few where he plays a good guy.
He's also memorable in that film because he's not a pushover father; one of the few strong father figures in a family movie that had puhtza.
Thelma & Louise.. he's a good guy in that. And he delivers a great performance.
@@Billy-bc8pk Absolutely. He did a really good job.
So cool. I worked with Michael on a film in Texas. He was very heartfelt behind the scenes. Wish we had more time to chat.
5:05 doyle went full tom cruise
That’s about to become a meme
as a guy born in 91, Free Willy and Free Willy 2 were a BIIIIG part of what got me into storytelling.
....
Dudes trolling each other... inadvertently make a great scene
Directed by David Lynch
He was in the beginning of WARGAMES . From what ive read about him , id never want to piss him off .
He has that aura and charisma that is reminiscent of silver screen tough guys.I had that Mr.Blonde poster all throughout high school and college, just one of those iconic movie images.
I always liked Mr. Madsen's smile. Sometimes he does this thing where he starts his smile from on side of his mouth like a half smile, and then he raises the other side. I remember he does it in one particular scene in The Doors movie.
yeah i missed Reservoir Dogs. i remember seeing it in the paper playing at the theater but i had no idea. then after i'd seen pulp fiction i was at blockbuster looking for a movie and it was on the backwall with the new releases under the "Staff Picks" and i checked out the box, saw Quentin did it and grabbed it. instantly became one of the my favorite movies.
Now this is what I call a great interview of an actor!
Madsen and Billy Zane and Guy Pierce are all guys that were dramatically underused and underappreciated powerhouses 💪
100% underrated michael is so talented
Not really underrated, he have done a Tons of self-sabotage to not get what he could've, even tho he still have been in multiple legendary movies, which is a lot. He's those oddball guys, like dude dropped out like was it two weeks before shooting of Pulp Fiction to do a from bad to mediocre western because it paid more. Then those kinda decisions have led him into a place of needing to at one point even lend money from QT (I would guess he just threw him a mill or something you know... 500k or whatever)(Propably with no need to pay back, QT seems to have like some forever softspot for Madsen).
So I would not say he is underrated, he does very well what he does and have had his moments which people have apprechiated (and does). It just is more so that why would he be to mainstream more than oh that Tarantino guy, since he did make some seriously bad choices and got multiple new chances, showed again he is unreliable etc. So he is where he should kinda be.
I always see these comments of this and that actor being underrated, even if they had their time in the limelight or there is reasons why mainstream do not quash over them. Like say Joseph Gordon Levitt is an amazing actor, but when he just got into the top. He wrote and directed his own movie, after that decided to take a hiatus to raise his kids which studios do not like (he was popping). Then came back and todays landscape is anyway horrible, so there really have not been golden opportunities for even his caliber of talent and aged guy.. That's kinda also those well.. whatcha gonna do about it things. Doesn't mean he would be underrated either.

Wow I always thought he ACTUALLY looked hurt when he told him so harshly to take the hat off 😂 Turns out it was genuine.
I Love Michael in everything he does. I have Hell Ride on DVD and no one I know has ever heard of it 😊
Hell Ride is directed by Larry who makes Bud take his hat off in KB2 haha
Free Willy was amazing movie for my generation. He did great as his father.
Looks like I found a new podcast. So happy that you're doing this, Stephen! Subbed.
I think I just discovered a new, awesome podcast! This is great! =D
Madsen is one of the last truly great actors.
Always had a good energy/vibe that radiated off the screen. Even when he played edgy roles.
I ❤ Michael Madsen forever
This dude is still alive?!?!?!?!?!! Damn! Respect. I made it through my addictions too
8:27 "Harvey Weinstein"???? Pretty sure.
Yep, Quentin himself has told this story as well.
@@Jared_Wignall Yup! And why are Madsen and Baldwin protecting the phat POS Weinstein who’s rotting away in prison and has zero power in the industry?!
Yes QT has already shared this story publicly about Weinstein
@@tom_reaganwho gives a 💩. Relax. There’s much bigger problems in this world
Madsen was in Charlotte many years ago while filming something. I had a buddy working at the gift shop at the Westin where he was staying. Madsen was looking around and asked my buddy if he had a “Hustler” magazine available. He left disappointed.
Wow, great stuff..
I’m baffled by the 3000 subscribers on this channel!? Maybe it’s really new but wow, this is amazing!
First time viewer, but I’m absolutely looking forward to seeing more, I subscribed and turned the bell on…
I’m just gonna say it here.. because all the listeners are thinking it. Put these two guys together in a movie or series immediately!! They’ll deliver every high and every low with impact. Their authenticity is off the charts.. and their ability to morph into complex characters creates an excitement that is palpable to the audience from the very first frame!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Not a single person on the planet agrees with you
@@dominicmurphy6856 Actually had this been the 1990s, they would have made for an excellent duo in a dark comdey crime-thriller; Madsen as the grizzled hitman sent to take out Baldwin, who is a thief who lifts money from a mob deal gone wrong, but Madsen finds out that Baldwin is the guy dating his sister, who goes on the run with Baldwin, which puts Madsen in a predicament where he ends up saving sister and inadvertently saving Baldwin from another hit squad sent after them. This leads to them teaming with Madsen to go take out the mob boss they stole the money from and try to make a break for it across the Mexican border; Madsen dies in the final shootout but warns Baldwin to be good to his sister. I would have paid to see that.
@@Billy-bc8pk
Directed by the Coen Bros
@@EdwardVonKhil Yep, Coen Bros would make it epic. Too bad YT removed the convo, though. lol
Wish he was in every QT movie
Madsen and Nick nolte a battle of the gruff voice lol
This is pure comedy gold
When did Stephen Baldwin turn into Jim Carrey’s Riddler?
Wtfff I thought the actor who played Buster Scrugs was the host and then I realized it was the cooler biodomey one of the shooty bros.
What a great story and interview I can't believe I haven't seen this podcast before
R DOGs Mr blonde in that suit no know wears a suit on the shoulder like Mr blonde 👊🏼
Have to add the getaway man he was soooo good 🙏🏼
this is really great stuff two legends great convo
This is good to see. I've never seen an interview with Michael Madsen and occasionally I would catch a movie with him in it and wonder why I haven't seen much of him since his role in Kill Bill. Looking at his IMDb page he's been rather busy over the last 10 years, including coming back to do Tarantino's latest film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which I still haven't seen. As a pessimist who thinks the worst at all times, I assumed maybe at his advanced age his mental faculties weren't what they once were. I'm glad to see I was wrong. He still looks pretty good 67, as well. My mom was 68 when she died and she looked like she was turning into Gollum.
One of my favorite scenes of Volume 2. "Are you telling me you're as useless as an asshole right here?" Lol
He I like free willy. It was a hit for Michael stay humble lol
He was of course first choice to play Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction!
Dammit. Why can't we have the full interview as a video. So tired of all these podcasts only doing clips. And if its on Spotify. Put the video on Spotify.
It's so lame, Jamie Kennedy does the same thing. Really really lame
Boomers and Gen X’ers prefer to utilize these platforms in the most obnoxious ways possible. I honestly think they get off on it
It’s already ten minutes long and the topics are complete. It’s just a snippet, you know this going in.
No one cares what you’re tired of
They want us to listen to full audio on I ❤ heart radio
Amazing actor!
Well....at least one Baldwin out of all the Brothers turned out to make sense!
Quentin has to have madsen as lead in the final movie otherwise it just doesn't feel worth ithe deserves it
He’s the best 🧢🪖👒🎩⛑️🤠🤠
Are we not going to acknowledge Michael's spot-on impression of QT?
No because it was below average
Unfortunatly true @@Andreasguist
Not that good
This dudes hilarious!
I thought it was a actually pretty cool Michael Madsen played the father figure in Free Willy. It was completely different from a lot of the other roles he has played..
This guy is so hilarious.
To me, Madsen was always the standout in Free Willy, he was kind but you could tell he would fk someone up if needed 😆
I didnt know that Brian Baldwin had a youtube channel
Lol
I wonder who the producer is that had to be bleeded out??? I would love to know who it is. Its either Richard N. Gladstein or Monte Hellman or Ronna B. Wallace. I met Michael Madsen once at a film screening in London. Lovely brooding man.
"We can bleep it out" Michael looks dead at the camera so everyone can read his lips lol
Legend.
I don't think Madsen knows how good he is at telling funny stories
I rewatched Free Willy for the first time as an adult about 3 years ago and it's still really good. It was my first time ever watching the sequels, the 2nd movie is also good and the 3rd movie is pretty good but Michael isn't in that one. They did a Free Willy reboot around 2005 with a young girl, that movie was forgettable and not worth watching but the original trilogy with Jesse was well done.
I didn’t know Michael was so funny lol
One of life's better characters. 😎
Michael Madsen and Robert Patrick must have gone to the same parties...
It's these "big-wigs" who are currently destroying the art form of movies by making everything with idealogical messaging. I've stopped watching new stuff, it's 98% awful, designed to lecture and divide rather than entertain. In fact, I'm going to re-watch Dogs tonight. Thanks, and I hope Michael one day will act in more films that are slightly risky.
Baldwin may overacting too much. And he needs to talk into the mic. Madsen is great
Stephen baldwin is dressed like my grandmother seamstress 😂 what the hell is he wearing lol
Does Michael voice Krusty?
You bleep Harvey Weinstein? 🙄
Also, Stephen believes that Michael was in Pulp Fiction 😂
this guy at one time was the most handsome actor in Hollywood.......as handsome as a young Elvis Presley..........now, you can't even recognize him......
I had never seen this channel before, and I was so confused by the thumbnail lol. Well played sir. Catching all of us pedants coming here to say “that’s Daniel Baldwin idiots”.
No free Willy if madsen didn’t do dogs hah
Stephen. Less is more with the faux laughs. It’s nauseating. And is really necessary to cover so many reaction shots? Because it’s getting to the point where the military should employ these in lieu of water boarding.
He kind of reminds me of Trump. Just doing 💩 to piss people off lol, like how he did with Quentin, love it. Brilliant.
Can't stand the Baldwins. I liked Beetlejuice, but those Hollywood families are to be careful of.
The "bleeped out" producer is Harvey Weinstein, FYI!
Stephen, u should have Quinton on.
He sits with Bill Maher regularly so he can sit with anyone.
OH SHIT NOW BILL GONNA THINK IM SAYING HE IS NERV…..
BECAUSE HE IS 😑
❤❤❤❤❤ love from Australia.Clay ❤❤❤love you guys ❤❤Michael hows your mum ❤❤the Snake 🐍
Too bad half the conversation is inaudible…
I love him but I don't know why, he gives me the vibe to be that actor who has a great carrere but is completely broke...
Why is Baldwin always out of frame somehow in these things. I wonder if he has one of those social bladders that can be cured with the nose or something?
LMAO!!!!!!!!
Weinstein had no power over Tarantino.
What's wrong with Baldwin!? He extremely odd
Unwatchable due to the fake laughing by Billy Bobby whatever the name of this over reacting idiot is unbearable and ruining Madsen story telling. Zip it!
Quentin gave him free willy? Didn't know he swung that way!
tom sizemore
Don't smoke kids !!!
Michael Madsen in Free Willy is one of the dumbest casting decisions ever.
Hair dye isn't the answer. Michael is a hell of an actor, however. I wish he'd allow himself to age gracefully.
A "dye job" becomes obvious at a certain age. But some guys really don't like gray hair i guess. Eminem dyes his beard and it's so obvious.
Madsen & Fishburne would have been vicious in Pulp Fiction. Travolta & Jackson were great, but they weren't vicious killers. Such a shame, Fish's agents dissuaded him and Madsen was doing Wyatt Earp ☹️
