Ostapenko just plays every match on her own terms, that is admirable. She goes for her shots, but I feel like she's a little smarter and cleaner with her placement. I hope she wins this tournament and stays in this groove for the AO.
They gave a stat during the match that in the last year, 66% of the points were decided on her shot, her terms. Either a winner, forced or unforced error. That's higher than anyone else on the WTA tour right now.
How good it is to watch Ostapenko play! Brilliant.

Everyone know what they wanna do when they play Ostapenko. Make her run. And she a killer on that tennis court. Really like her game. I think top player always hope Ostapenko on other side of draw. She look unbeatabl sometime.
Many have tried and failed with that strategy because she is actually good on defence and can run and get to a lot of balls and send them back as winners. It doesn't work. They need a different tactic.

I've been watching her since her first matches this season, and aside from possibly Sabalenka, she's playing better than anyone else I've seen this year. She was brilliant during this and the Litz tournaments. There was the matter of saving match point with jet lag vs. Tauson, but even that she took in stride. Only broken once in like the last 6-7 sets, and saved 5 break points in the opening game of the semi-final.
Ostapenko and Bartoli are unique. I like them
She got high IQ in tennis. Ostapenko will be a threat to all during Ausie open.
Penko is so much fun to watch. Hopefully, she will win the final.

Adelaide, the Final should be days ago. Rybakina and Pegula lost or gave forfait because the want to start in Melbourne with proper preparation.
Rybakina definitely would have won this tournament if her team let her go all out.

Last year she lost in the 2nd round of Adelaide 1 and the 1st round of Adelaide 2, she definitely didn’t think she would win Brisbane so easily after such a horrible time at the WTL.

Ostapenko looks heavy, like she's carrying around 15 to 20 extra pounds but her power is overwhelming for most of her opponents. If she can set up for her groundstrokes she hits winners.

Rybakina wasn't interested
Rybakina wasn’t trying to win.
She was going to do the same thing Pegula did if she beat Alexandrova and so she decided that it didn’t matter if she won or not.
Rybakina easily could have come back in that match in both sets but decided not to when she was about to get the 2nd break.
