Delighted to see Ostapenko register a win against Garcia although hard-fought. Excited to see how she does at the AO.
Glad to finally see highlights of Ostapenko.
I will never understand how double faults make the "highlight" reel. MAYBE if it's for a set point, and fine if it's on a match point, but we only get ~5 minutes of "high"lights and two bad serves are certainly not highlights.

It's part of the narrative; now we understand that Ostapenko struggled with nerves but overcame them. It's not all about the winners.

If Penko had a decent serve she'd be a contender for anything as her groundstrokes are going to win her so many points. But when she's against players who can trade with her, it so often comes down to the serve. On this occasion she scraped through but so often she doesn't.
Do you guys think Ostapenko would be a better or worse player if she got into better shape?
Her legs are hard as stone, believe me.

les montées hasardeuses sans consistance au filet de garcia et sans parler des volées ou elle n a pas la
volonté de plier les jambes pour jouer sa volée correctement et laisse donc fléchir ou tomber le buste comme un sac de patate pour mettre la balle dans le filet c est quand même quelque chose à ce niveau …3eme serie maximum 😬😬
Le match aurait pu basculer dans un sens comme dans l'autre, et les stats démontrent plutôt que c'est Jelena qui a le plus souvent été débordée par Caroline qui a un tiers de coups gagnants en plus et un tiers de fautes directes en moins. Pour les montées trop courtes, vous avez raison, mais pas vraiment pour les volées de balles rapides et plongeantes qu'elle doit intercepter devant elle sous la bande du filet où elle fait souvent montre d'un beau toucher. Et dès qu'on plie les jambes en se tenant sur la pointe des pieds, on casse le buste.
