Rybakina didn’t care if she lost this match because her and her team wanted to be in Melbourne. Kvitova proved in Miami how to beat Elena. You need to be able to hit as big as, or in Kvitova’s case, even bigger than Elena off-the ground and get her on the run. And you need a strong serve yourself to put her under pressure. Playing Elena tactically is similar to Sharapova but she has a much better serve and she’s not quite as gritty.

I don’t really trust in her to get a slam but I think she needs to work very hard on it.
Her other matches completely contradict this. She has changed plenty but she didn’t utilize those changes in this match because she doesn’t really want to win this and have to play Ostapenko 2 days before the AO starts.

Не ожидала рыба и утухла в растерянности ,ничего не смогла по ходу матча изменить ,а Катя выдала один из лучших своих матчей ,жаль только редко ,редко такое бывает ,ведь может и топов выносить ,настроилась видимо по полной на 3 ракетку мира ,но может также и проиграть более слабой сопернице ,не хватает её на многие матчи ,а разово у кого угодно может выиграть 😊

That was just a lousy performance by Rybakina. Too many unforced errors, too predictable and flat-footed. This is how she was playing after Italian Open last year. Some of her tactics were just plain awful. I wonder if there’s something wrong with her physically.
