It is so bizarre that videos as great as these receive so little views. Despite the inexplicable (and frustrating) persistence in this channel's obscurity, the quality of its output has consistently and phenomenally improved with each installment. I genuinely look forward to prospective videos and I hope that Salazar Knight doesn't lose the passion to continue exploring this history. This channel might not have a very large community, but we appreciate every moment of this journey with Salazar. Please keep going.
@@SalazarKnight Have you considered breaking videos like this up into multiple smaller ones (~10 minutes)? Seems like that’s what usually plays well on RUclips
I've only recently discovered your channel but I'm absolutely blown away by your content and the amazing quality! The early 90s were the time when Batman first came into my consciousness, where it's stayed all these years. This video in particular was a wonderful blast from the past and unlocked a lot of forgotten memories, thank you.
Another great video, Salazar! I always thought of 1992 as a great year for BATMAN. I watched RETURNS at the cinema multiple times. The Animated Series was a HUGE event too. Thanks again, mate - makes me want to dig up some of those great 90s back issues of the comics with the awesome Kelley Jones covers!
I hadn't heard of Seduction of the Gun before... it's simultaneously amazing, that Batman was able to have an impact on such a major real life topic, disappointing that the bill was so unambitious (as I assume it had to be to stand a ghost of a chance of approval), and ultimately tragic that even that miniscule measure was repealed twenty years later. Now and then the real world likes to remind you that it's darker and crueller than fiction.
I'm 10000 times more excited to hear Salazar talk about these 30 year old stories I already read than I am about anything currently coming out of DC Comics (or Marvel even). The big two are dead now but man, comics were so fun back in the day before they went to crap. Keep this series up!
I just started looking into comics again after about 20 years of not paying attention to it. I'm thoroughly disappointed. Especially disappointed with Spider-man.
Batman Returns just Sucks, it was Never Good. And That's Tim Burton's Fault, he was the Wrong Person for the Job. Anyone Who Hates Batman Character, and wishes to Change it Should be Nowhere near The Director's chair. While Spider-Man 3 was Butchered in the Edit, the Studio Cut out Half of the Movie's Runtime. It Went From Over 4 Hours all the way Down to 2 Hours And 9 Minutes.
Your channel is dope, I find myself listening to it at work while doing paperwork (ironically at a comic shop) and enjoying the hell out of it. Keep it coming dude!
I hope you keep going with thia series for a long time. Specifically, I want to see how you handle Cassandra Cain's rise and fall. The behind the scenes stories with that are infamous for a good reason!
A welcome surprise for this weekend. This series keeps my appetite wet (and adds more stuff to my find list if I missed them before), but I look forward to when you go over the comics that Chuck Dixon did after this point because thereis so much great stuff to talk about
Great video! I’ve read a lot of this era through the collected edition’s coming out recently and it’s made me a big fan and very appreciative of this era.
Exploring the poloitcal side of Gotham I belive started in the 80's when Arthur Reaves and Hamilton Hill were running for Mayor, and both candidates were currupt as hell and made Batmans job a living hell. It also happened in Year One when he had most of the police force currupt in that story.
Here's something cool about Deathstroke, okay you see as we all know, in the Teen Titans animated show, Deathstroke was voiced by Ron Peralman, he also voiced Clayface on Batman The Animated Series, and that's not all, he also voiced Killer Croc on The Batman 2004. So yeah, that's three Batman antagonists that Ron Peralman has voiced. Edit: oh and Perlman also voiced Batman himself in the video game justice league heroes
Amazing Video! Keep this thing going cause its really the best Batman Content right now! I only have one Question: Will you continue the History of Batman all the Way up No man's Land? or Even the New 52! 😳
I was still six years away from being born, but were I alive in 1992 my favorite #Batman moment that year likely would have been either the release of Batman Returns or the airing of my favorite B:TAS episode "Heart of Ice".
Great series. I've been reading all of the post-crisis Batman comics and I watch these videos after I finish each year. I just finished last week and I agree Robin 3000 was really really bad....
Another great video. One constructive advice I've had for a while watching your videos is I don't get the need for the chapter divisions. I'd much rather you showed us all Batman media as it released through the year chronologically, regardless of the book or the medium. Hearing about one half of a crossover in one section and then another in another section is just confusing... I can't create a solid image of the year in my head. Showing everything in order would also help explaining the continuity, as we'd see Batman facing his villains, meeting his allies and despatching his lovers in the order in which it happened in his fictional biography. Anyhow, keep it up!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm definitely changing this for upcoming crossovers, but it's almost impossible to speak about everything in chronological order without jumping from one topic to another like juggling several publications each month of the year and also going back and forth from one medium to another. Having chapters helps me organize the content in a coherent manner and prioritize what's important and what isn't. I get the appeal of a month-by-month explanation, I do. That's why all the previous entries in the Modern Bat (1986-1989) were done chronologically. But that required leaving out a lot of things and streamlining the content into 10 minutes of video. Anyways, I just wanted to do something different.
People who call this Gothic architecture don't know what gothic means. Gothic is very specific late *medieval* early *renaissance* era architecture from Northern Europe.
You know I have to say, after Crisis On Infinite Earths, DC really treated Black Canary like garbage. I mean, she was tourtured in the Green Arrow Longbow hunters mini series, she was dying in the Batman/Green Arrow Poison tommarow graphic novel, and she's turned into a vampire in that elcipso story talked about here, like, what the hell was DC's problem with Black Canary back then like seriously?! This dredful treatment makes me sick!
Hot House dosen't fit into the DC Universe continuity as Poison Ivy is very different to how she is in the regular comics. I have to be honest, I much prefer Poison Ivy the way we see her normally, as opposed to in Hot House.

That's very nice of you to say. I kinda needed to read it as it's hard not to be disappointed by the low performance the videos get.
Totally agree with you, this channel is so well done that I was shocked when I looked at how many views there were!

Maybe call Superheroes by their right name: Superman Man of Steel, and not Superman THE Man of THE Steel
😂
Rest in Peace Kevin Conroy. He will forever be our Batman.
It's never going to be the without him.
Yeeeeh! I’ve been waiting for this video!
Enjoy!

You’ve quickly become one of my go to comic related channels, can’t wait to see what else you’ve got coming!

The Living legend, SalazarKnight Returns!
Much like Spider-man 3, Batman Returns is a film that I would say, people didn't apreciate back then, but over time fans have grown to love.

I absolutely love the series so far, you are one of the best comic/batman channels out there.
I hope you keep going with thia series for a long time. Specifically, I want to see how you handle Cassandra Cain's rise and fall. The behind the scenes stories with that are infamous for a good reason!
Great video! I'm from Quito, Ecuador and I love what you're doing! Keep the good work!
Gracias! 🇪🇨

The whole Last Arkham story gave me nightmares.
We had issue #2 and it haunted the fuck out of me for years
Great video! I’ve read a lot of this era through the collected edition’s coming out recently and it’s made me a big fan and very appreciative of this era.
So grateful for this channel!!!

Oh hell yes, been waiting for this video, thank you
Best Channel on RUclips!!
16:53
slight correction: sean catherine derek was first hired as the exec producer on B:TAS; burnett didn’t come until shortly after
Another excellent retrospective !
Awesome series man! 🔥
Thank you so much for these video's. I enjoy them so much. I'm trying to watch them all. It's a great deep dive.
Great video! Oh, btw: I really love your BTAS wiki!
Thank you so much!
Man this channel is amazing. How HOW do you not have 100k views and subs?!
Soon, bro…
So many great Batman comics in 1992! I love Spoiler’s debut, Robin III, Sword of Azrael, and those early Shadow of the Bat stories.
Here's something cool about Deathstroke, okay you see as we all know, in the Teen Titans animated show, Deathstroke was voiced by Ron Peralman, he also voiced Clayface on Batman The Animated Series, and that's not all, he also voiced Killer Croc on The Batman 2004. 28:40 Ha! I notice Chewbaca is among Two faces group of freaks!
interesting insights into the story behind the scenes of Knightfall
the scene where Bruce takes off his mask in front of Vicky Vale seems adapted from when Spider-man revealed himself to the Black Cat
Shadow of the bat is my favorite run of the character, Zsasz is super underrated and was an incredible start
Amazing Video! Keep this thing going cause its really the best Batman Content right now!
I only have one Question: Will you continue the History of Batman all the Way up No man's Land? or Even the New 52! 😳
That's the plan! Though I will make exclusive videos for the best stories, movies and tv shows in between.
Can't wait for your review of Batman Forever.
i hope you will also cover the stuff that came after the nineties your a king love your stuff so much. i learn a lot about my favourite comic
Batman TAS is still the gold standard 😊
I was still six years away from being born, but were I alive in 1992 my favorite #Batman moment that year likely would have been either the release of Batman Returns or the airing of my favorite B:TAS episode "Heart of Ice".
10 outta 10 video
The very year I was born.
It's been established that The Cavilier in Blades is not the same Caviliar we see in Batman comics before and after.
From the first look at the Breyfogle cover, my intuition told me that the background was inspired by the '89 movie... I was right, thanks!
Great series. I've been reading all of the post-crisis Batman comics and I watch these videos after I finish each year. I just finished last week and I agree Robin 3000 was really really bad....

I prefer batman returns to Batman. It expanded the world of Gotham.
He had to accept that Ragman was the protector of the Jewish community of Gotham?
Is there a bathroom in the Batcave

You talk WAYY TOO FAST. Breathe, Salazar!
It might just be me , but i dont hate bat mite. I mean if any characrer should have a 5th deminsoinal beinging, it be batman.
