Good tires and wipers are a must in the winter when driving on snow and ice. Also, ensure that your washer fluid is topped up with winter washer fluid. Good traction are key to staying safe when driving on snow and ice. Maintain a 3 to 4 second following distance. Slow down back from where you actually want to get stopped and then creep up to where you actually want to stop. To recover from a skid, release the brake, release the accelerator and steer in the direction you want the vehicle to go.
Good luck on your road test.

I start watch your videos in Dec last year I first watched your video and I was so impressed that you made me watch it again and again, I pass my driving test because of your positive videos I am very proud of you 👍 thank you coach 🙏🏾 🙏🏾
Wow, thank you for your kind words. So happy to hear we can help out. All the best, Cheers Rick
Rick is a legend. I watched his videos years ago when I was getting my license for the first time and now I have a commercial license and can drive an 18-speed. Keep up the good work sir!
That is awesome! Thank you for your kind words my friend. All the very best, Cheer Rick
If you have a fender bender on a slippery road, stay in the car! Full away to a safe spot. Dont get out and stand in the icy road in traffic.
Yes, for sure. Keep yourself safe so you don't get clobbered by other traffic. All the best, Cheers Rick
thanks Rick you are the best
Thank you for your kind words my friend. Drop us a note if you have questions. All the very best, Cheers Rick
Always good learning from You about Driving..
Glad to hear that. Drop us a note if we can help further. All the best, Cheers Rick
Thanks Rick! Great video as always. Some of these tips are not default behavior for people who haven't driven much in the snow. Slamming the brakes vs gently pumping the brakes with plenty of distance, not bunching up on the road etc.,
What would be interesting (and provides you with ideas for video content) is to take youtube videos where people are sliding on black ice on highways and bridges and then point out mistakes and what people can do in similar situations.
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, that is really good. Thank you. All the best, Cheers Rick
See I love your videos 💯🙏🌹 thank you 😊💕
You are so welcome! Happy to hear we could help out. Cheers Rick
Tip 2, I disagree. Any winter tire, even the cheapest one will outperform the most expensive all-season tire. They are critical for your safety. You will stop sooner and have better control. Also, people should be driving with their low beams on to stay visible.
Hey Rick I don’t know if you have a video on this I don’t even know what their called but you know those 2 poles u pull into when you want to get into another lane like you pull ur car in and you have to wait for traffic to be clear in the front of you before you can proceed and you can’t back up because you all ready pulled in between the 2 poles to wait for track in front of you to clear before you can go do u have a video on it
Do you have an address where I might look this up on Google maps? Cheers Rick
@@smartdrivetest yes 9722 Fry Rd, Cypress, TX 77433
@@smartdrivetest it’s right before you get to the heb it’s Tuckerson rode it’s that big gap idk how to pull into those properly to make my turn to the other side of the road with out interfering with other traffic behind me
Which city are you in? Are you in Cypress, TX? Cheers Rick
@@smartdrivetest yes cypress
I had snow and I remote start my car for it to warm up and it is all season tires and they are in good condition and my car is AWD but I know to drive cautious
Hi Rick. Good name, by the way. I am a Smart Driver, 58 years of age, with zero collisions in well over 2 million kilometres.
I enjoy watching your videos very much. You and I think the same way when it comes to driving. It's nice to see someone that can explain clearly the science, and the art of driving.
My 16 year old son recently got his '365' and I told him to learn from you, and he has. Unfortunately he lives an hour away with his mom in Pickering, so I am not his primary teacher. But I am glad he has you to learn from. Heck, even I have learned a few things from you.
Thank you, Rick.
Brilliant. Cheers Rick
Thank you for your kind words my friend. You and I are the same vintage. ;0) As you said, driving is definitely a science and an art. And therein lies the challenge of driving. Happy to hear we can help out both you and your son. All the very best, Cheers Rick
Oooooh
Happy to help. Cheers Rick
