This video is so timely for my church, especially the first and last point. We've got a formal dining room next to the lobby that I'm pushing to turn into a gathering place and we have zero signs around the building - and that's changing ASAP.
Our church did a major addition about 10 years ago and did some interesting things in that space. I walk into our sanctuary and....thud...my heart drops. It's such a patchwork over design elements from the original building done more than 30 years ago; complete with holes and dust shadows. What has been your experience to improve these kind of spaces?
@@henryvanweeren7233 A key thought I push when working with churches is to begin with the end in mind. Even if you can't update all the spaces at once having an overall design plan that is specific to who you are as a body of believers can help shape decisions and move you in the right direction. Decide a color palette, a lighting guide, a furniture guide. And if it doesn't fit with your style guide it doesn't go in the building.
The churches I’ve been in have mostly moved away from the book stand shop areas where you can get materials. I’m sure there are clever ways to do it though!
Some of these lobbies look better than 5 star hotels!!! 😳😳😳🤯🤯🤯

this really only works with modern church layouts. I love all the ideas but if you have an older traditional church this is almost impossible to do.

Thank you for that inspiration! Is a book stand still an area to consider or simply outdated? How would a modern and up to date one look like?
